The two people on the bicycle were only focused on laughing and chatting, completely oblivious to the vehicles passing by.

In front of the store, Joseph Lancaster stopped the bicycle, one foot on the ground and the other on the pedal, "Sister-in-law, come down, let’s go in and take a look."

"Joseph, why are you coming to the store?"

Violet Zimmerman looked at the store door in confusion, still sitting on the bicycle, the hand covering Joseph Lancaster’s ear slipped down.

A difficult-to-describe emotion grew in her heart; she had been married to Daxton Lancaster for so long, and it seemed he had never taken her shopping, although he brought gifts every time he returned from a business trip, those clothes were not her own choice.

"Let’s go in and see what’s good."

The young man’s lips curled into a smile, turning back to gaze at Violet, "Sister-in-law, hurry up and get down, aren’t you cold?"

The sweater he wore had already been penetrated by the wind.

"Oh," Violet finally jumped off the bicycle, Joseph also swung his leg over, set up the bike stand, locked it, and then grabbed Violet’s wrist and led her into the store.

It was Violet’s first time shopping in T City. Walking through the store’s entrance, she saw the counter by the door selling cosmetics, with simple household items on the right and food items on the left.

Joseph led her by the wrist to the daily goods counter, where the young man pointed to a scarf.

"Comrade, could you please help me bring that scarf over?"

"Alright," the store clerk used a pole to take down the scarf and handed it over, the rose-pink color was very bright.

Joseph took it and directly draped it over Violet’s neck, wrapping it around once more, his hands on her shoulders as he stepped back slightly, eyebrows furrowed as he looked carefully.

"Not bad, let’s go with this one, how much?"

After speaking, Joseph reached into the pocket of his school uniform for money.

"Eight yuan and two."

Upon hearing the scarf’s price was so high, Violet hurriedly took it off from her neck and returned it to the store clerk.

"Joseph, there’s no need, I barely go out."

"Dear sister, come now! Your husband is willing to buy it for you, why refuse? Put it on and take a look in the mirror, see how good it looks!"

The clerk reached across the counter and draped the scarf over Violet’s shoulder again. The scarf had been in the store for a long time as it was expensive and hadn’t sold, but today finally met a buyer, they wouldn’t miss this chance.

After the clerk spoke, Violet’s face suddenly turned red, burning hot; this feeling of being misunderstood made her shy, she took off the scarf and placed it on the glass counter, turning to walk outside.

"It’s getting late, let’s head back early."

"Wait a minute! What’s the rush?" Joseph grabbed Violet’s wrist and handed ten yuan to the clerk with his other hand.

The clerk took the crisp new banknote while busying herself with the change, asking, "Are you newlyweds? Look how shy this young lady is, her face all red."

Joseph looked up at Violet, his face brimming with a bright smile, Violet felt even more uneasy, knowing full well the clerk misunderstood, yet he didn’t explain.

The clerk handed the change to Joseph and winked at Violet’s direction, "Dear sister, what’s there to be embarrassed about? Look how much your husband cares for you, even gave his military coat for you to wear while he’s dressed lightly."

After the clerk’s remarks, Violet realized she had been wearing Joseph’s coat all along, no wonder he asked earlier, "Aren’t you cold?"

In a flurry, she took off the military coat, "Quickly put it on, don’t catch a cold."
