Before getting on the bicycle, Joseph Lancaster took off his military coat and draped it over Violet Zimmerman’s shoulders.

"Joseph, quickly put the coat on, the weather is cold!"

Violet Zimmerman frowned and scolded. Joseph Lancaster smiled and said, "It’s okay, I have more layers underneath!"

Before coming, he had intentionally put on an extra sweater, just to prevent Violet Zimmerman from getting cold.

"But..."

Violet Zimmerman hesitantly held up the military coat, but Joseph Lancaster quickly took it back and draped it over her shoulders, "No buts, I’m a man, I can endure the cold better than you!"

While speaking, Joseph Lancaster had already grabbed Violet Zimmerman’s wrist to help her put on one sleeve, then the other. After helping Violet put on the military coat, the young man supported the handlebars and swung his leg over the bicycle.

"Hop on, sister-in-law."

Seeing the cushioned back seat, Violet Zimmerman hesitated for a moment, then placed her hands on Joseph Lancaster’s waist and tiptoed onto it. The large-wheeled bicycle moved at a brisk pace as Joseph pedaled quickly.

Though there was added weight at the back, Joseph Lancaster felt like cycling today was much easier than usual. He hardly used any strength, yet the two wheels rolled swiftly ahead.

"Sister-in-law, what kind of movies do you like? I can buy you tickets in the future."

Joseph Lancaster asked while cycling, looking ahead with a smile on his young face.

Violet Zimmerman clutched tightly at the sides of Joseph Lancaster’s school uniform, her brow furrowed with mild distress, "I don’t like detective films; they’re too scary."

"Okay, next time I’ll get you a romance one!"

After New Year’s Day, T City officially entered winter. Snowflakes began to fall sporadically from the sky, the crystalline snow lightly sprinkling down, looking quite beautiful.

Violet Zimmerman held onto Joseph Lancaster’s clothing with one hand and stretched out the other to catch a snowflake. A pure white snowflake landed on her glove, sparkling with a crystal-like shine.

Under the sunlight, Violet Zimmerman’s lips curled slightly upwards, "Joseph, these snowflakes are really beautiful."

The arc of Joseph Lancaster’s lips grew even wider, and he pedaled the bicycle with greater vigor, "Sister-in-law, just wait until the snow is thick enough. I’ll help you build a snowman!"

"Do you know how? It’s really hard. Back at home, I tried building one several times but never succeeded."

Violet Zimmerman caught more snowflakes as she spoke.

"Sister-in-law, don’t worry. When the snow is heavy, I promise to build you a beautiful snowman!"

"You better not be lying to me."

Violet Zimmerman didn’t even realize it, but as she said this, she pouted playfully.

A sigh came from ahead; it was Joseph Lancaster’s helplessness, "When have I ever lied to you?"

"Alright, I’ll be waiting then!"

The snowfall gradually thickened. Like petals falling from the sky, they landed on both of them. Up ahead, the young man reminded her while pedaling, "Sister-in-law, lift the coat collar up so your ears don’t get cold."

"I know." Violet Zimmerman obediently lifted the collar of the coat, the faux fur touching her cheeks and ears, warming them up.

After gearing herself up, Violet Zimmerman asked with concern, "Are you cold, Joseph?"

"I’m fine."

Although Joseph Lancaster said so, Violet Zimmerman still reached out and covered his ears with her hands.

A domestic Red Flag car had been slowly following them. When Violet covered Joseph Lancaster’s ears, the car suddenly accelerated, quickly driving past them.

Inside the driver’s cabin, the man’s face was darker than the sky outside.
