Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1545 - 1537: Wherever the Gaze Falls, Eternal Love Remains: Blocking with the Hand
At 8 PM, in this season that is about to enter winter, most people have already retreated under their covers, but Violet Zimmerman, wearing a coat and holding an enamel bowl, walked through the courtyard of the Lancaster Family.
The plaster on her left arm had been removed, but to prevent the bones from dislocating again, her arm was wrapped in red cloth and hung from her neck for support.
The late autumn nights were chilly, even though there was not a hint of wind, the air carried a biting coldness.
Yet, the autumn chill could not compare to the coldness in her heart.
After returning from dinner, Daxton Lancaster said, giving her three days, if within three days she couldn’t settle things with her younger brother-in-law, Joseph Lancaster, then either she would be sent back to her parents’ home or find a man outside.
When her mother came to visit the sick, her stance was clear: if Daxton Lancaster proposed divorce, there was no need to consider whether she would find someone else in the future, for even her parents would probably not let her step back into their home.
Without a steady job, if she had nowhere to stay, what awaited her was imaginable.
Holding the enamel bowl, she unknowingly arrived at the entrance of Joseph Lancaster’s small courtyard. Violet Zimmerman looked up and saw that the light in Joseph Lancaster’s room upstairs was on; at this time he was still awake.
Without any hesitation, Violet Zimmerman stepped into the small courtyard and walked along the jade slab path to the door.
Though the entire courtyard belonged to the Lancaster Family, closing the door was a habit for everyone; since no one came to open it, Violet Zimmerman knocked on the door panel.
A servant’s voice came from inside, "Coming, coming,"
Seeing Violet Zimmerman standing at the door, the servant respectfully addressed her as "Madam." Violet Zimmerman smiled slightly and asked, "Where is Joseph?"
"Madam, Young Master is in his room upstairs. I will take you up."
"No need, I’ll go up myself." Violet Zimmerman, holding the enamel bowl, walked directly to the stairs.
Her heart was restless along the way, but upon reaching Joseph Lancaster’s residence, Violet Zimmerman’s heart felt settled.
If her husband Daxton Lancaster was a piece of warm jade, the warmth was only on the surface; once owned, it would be discovered that this piece of warm jade was actually chilling to the core.
While the younger brother-in-law was like a bone of warm spring water, unconsciously nourishing her heart with its gentle flow.
Having visited Joseph Lancaster’s room before, after reaching the second floor, Violet Zimmerman went directly to his door, knocked lightly, and without waiting for a response, pushed the door open and entered.
Joseph Lancaster had already nestled into his covers, the young man in blue pajamas was leaning against the bed with his eyes closed, a pure white quilt draped over his waist, holding a tape recorder in his hands.
Hearing someone push open the door, Joseph Lancaster abruptly turned around, and upon seeing it was Violet Zimmerman, a look of panic visibly flashed across the young man’s eyes.
Seeing her brother-in-law’s reaction, Violet Zimmerman smiled and walked in.
"Joseph, I made you alcohol fermented meatballs."
Seeing Violet Zimmerman place the enamel bowl on the cabinet by the bed, the young man panicked instantly, hastily removing his earphones, and looking at the bowl of night snack, he stammered in panic, "Sister-in-law... I’m not hungry... take it back for Big Brother..."
Joseph Lancaster could not finish his words as Violet Zimmerman stopped him by placing her hand directly on his lips.
The warm and soft touch settled on his lips, and Joseph Lancaster immediately froze, with the earphones clasped in his long fingers, staring blankly at Violet Zimmerman.
A faint fragrance reached his nose; it was because Violet Zimmerman had specially applied scented balm, the best hand cream at the time, which made her hands not only smooth but also fragrant.
With a charming curve of her lips, Violet Zimmerman said, "Daxton doesn’t like to eat it."
"Sister-in-law..." With his mouth blocked by Violet Zimmerman, the young man’s voice came out hoarse.
