Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 682 - 27: Unmatched
"Looks like they don’t need my help for now."
Su Zhou nodded slightly. He knew very well that while Gu Yaoluo and Bai Jingtiao’s situation looked perilous, they were actually handling it with ease. The massive Indeterminate Walkers weren’t fast, and the Moon Surface Vehicle was more than capable of leaving them behind.
The Ring Mountain struck by the golden Light Cannon had practically melted, golden-red lava now flowing from it. Su Zhou had wanted to press his advantage and annihilate the Deep Space Caller on the spot.
But for some unknown reason, he sensed the enemy’s aura suddenly surge. Immediately after, a Spiritual Light erupted from beneath the ground. The collapsed Ring Mountain was blown apart. As countless pieces of Moon Rock shot out in all directions like bullets, an unharmed humanoid figure appeared on the Moon Surface, a silver glow radiating from its chest.
In the next instant, the Deep Space Caller—somehow completely unharmed—became a living cannon. Countless specks of Spiritual Light, like fireflies, began to gather in the center of its chest before bursting forth. A dazzling torrent of light erupted, shooting straight toward Su Zhou.
Su Zhou was ready. He took a deep breath. The Moon has no atmosphere, but the instant he inhaled, all the free-roaming Spiritual Qi within a one-kilometer radius was forcibly plundered by the young man and drawn into his mouth.
The instant the silver torrent shot toward him, Su Zhou unleashed his own Breath. The four great Attributes—wind, fire, lightning, and water—merged and cycled within it. The moment the four-colored Dragon Breath collided with the silver torrent, it erupted into a magnificent explosion, creating a dust cloud that resembled a solar corona.
Then, the four-colored Dragon Breath, though slightly diminished, completely engulfed the silver torrent. It transformed into a streak of light that pierced through the Deep Space Caller’s torso, completely incinerating and vaporizing its body from the chest down.
But Su Zhou, exhaling a puff of hot smoke, frowned. According to his Spiritual Power sense, the Deep Space Caller’s aura hadn’t diminished in the slightest... In fact, it was gradually rising!
’Just what is this thing’s ability?’
As he puzzled over this, a slightly smaller mass of the Shapeless shot up from the ground and merged with the Deep Space Caller’s half-destroyed body. In less than a second, the silver, gelatinous substance fused and solidified, and the Deep Space Caller was whole once more, slowly rising to its feet.
"I have an Immortal Body, kid."
The incredibly arrogant Soul Communication crossed several kilometers and entered Su Zhou’s mind. Su Zhou narrowed his eyes and held out his right hand. A rift tore open in space, and from it, he drew a pitch-black, straight-bladed sword.
"What a coincidence," he replied calmly. "This blade and I specialize in killing the undying."
Su Zhou had intended to fight the Deep Space Caller for a while longer to find its weaknesses and the true nature of its abilities. A battle between Transcendents was, in a sense, an information war—a process of probing each other’s Bottom Cards. And in such a battle, an Undead could use its own "lives" to test an enemy’s Bottom Card and gain a considerable advantage.
But to his surprise, the Deep Space Caller didn’t trade more threats, nor did it flee or attack again. Instead, it turned toward Bai Jingtiao and Gu Yaoluo’s location and used a wide-area Soul Communication.
"My true name is John Harrison!"
The powerful Soul Power instantly crossed more than ten kilometers, reaching the minds of the two astronauts, who had already led the seven Indeterminate Walkers far into the distance. They were first startled, then utterly baffled.
"John Harrison? That’s the Deep Space Caller’s real name? How... ordinary."
"Why is it telling us its true name?"
Su Zhou didn’t understand either. He wasn’t proficient with Curses; otherwise, he would have instantly seized the Cause and Effect created by the being speaking its own true name to inflict it with the Celestial Five Declines. But then, something even more shocking occurred.
Su Zhou sensed that the moment the Deep Space Caller revealed its true name, its aura grew slightly stronger!
’What’s going on? Could its Divine Technique be that it grows stronger the more people who know its true name? No, that can’t be right. If that were the case, despite being hunted by the world’s governments for decades, there’s no way the name of a Transcendent like this would remain completely unknown!’
Facing the Deep Space Caller, whose power was steadily rising, Su Zhou’s expression grew more solemn. And just then, he felt its power increase yet again, just by a fraction.
In that same instant, the ground began to heave and tremble like the surface of the sea as one enormous Indeterminate Walker after another rose from below. Their swelling Spiritual Power churned up rock and dust. Even before their bodies had fully emerged, a massive wave of Telekinesis locked down the surrounding space, condensing into tangible chains that shot out to ensnare Su Zhou, who had just drawn the Blade of Annihilation!
"You’ve already walked into my trap."
So said the Deep Space Caller.
Meanwhile, back on Earth, the briefing on the Deep Space Caller’s abilities was still in progress.
"The Deep Space Caller’s ability allows it to draw power from any emotion directed at it within a certain radius."
The voice of Lady West Tower—Vice President of the NW Foundation and the highest-level administrator of the American Federation’s Transcendent agency—was tinged with weariness. "Power of Faith? Emotional Power? We’re not sure. But as long as an emotion is directed at it—be it joy, pain, caution, or contempt—any emotion at all allows it to draw power directly, and even perform all sorts of bizarre feats."
