Monsters Die When Killed

Chapter 680: Brief Attack and Defense

The representatives from the European Union and Ross Country also agreed.

“We can’t be sure either.”

After receiving assurances from everyone, West Tower didn’t keep them in suspense. She described it succinctly, “Based on our speculation, the true ability of the Deep Space Caller could practically be called that of a ‘God’.”

「Meanwhile, on the Moon.」

Due to the Deep Space Caller’s attack, Su Zhou’s team did not proceed to the Moon Base at the edge of Nuhai. This contingency, however, was something the moon-landing squad had already taken into account. Other than a lack of long-term supplies, it had little effect on their mission.

But just as Bai Jingtiao was following the satellite map and driving the Moon Surface Vehicle toward the signal source, a massive vibration came from deep underground.

There is no sound in a vacuum, which meant part of a human’s perception was effectively useless. Vibrations, however, could still travel through the medium of the Moon Surface. Su Zhou instantly looked toward the source of the tremors nearby. In the distance, the gray Moon Soil was churning like a viscous sea, as if something truly massive were squirming beneath it.

Three seconds later, a giant, silvery monster, like a writhing, amorphous Slime Monster about forty meters tall and over a hundred meters wide, broke through the ground and crawled out from beneath the Moon Surface.

The Deep Space Caller’s old partner, the ‘Shapeless’.

And it wasn’t just in this one spot. The ground hummed as violent tremors radiated from all directions. In an instant, a total of seven of these massive, silvery monsters appeared, surrounding the Moon Surface Vehicle. Their bodies were a gelatinous golden substance, and inside each, a pale-gold, eyeball-like solid sphere glowed with light. This light was the dazzling radiance of Spiritual Power, and it gave off a cold, inorganic aura. They seemed less like living creatures and more like strange, mechanical tools.

Without any warning, the moment the silvery Shapeless appeared, the golden eyeballs within their bodies began to agitate the surrounding Spiritual Qi. They converted the vast Spiritual Power on the Moon Surface—originating from cosmic radiation and sunlight—into pure ‘Telekinesis’. Huge chunks of the surface were ripped from the ground by this immense force. Then, these massive Moon Rocks, the smallest of which were tens of meters wide, were accelerated like baseballs to several times the speed of sound. They were hurled toward the tiny Moon Surface Vehicle like shells from an Electromagnetic Cannon.

In a flash, the dense barrage of Moon Rocks blotted out the sun. The Moon Surface Vehicle was plunged into shadow, about to be buried and crushed into a pancake.

Su Zhou didn’t make a move. But Bai Jingtiao, with a great laugh, leaped from the driver’s seat. He unsealed his spacesuit and transformed in mid-air into a giant White Tiger more than twenty meters long.

On the White Tiger’s neck and back, some noticeably brighter hairs with a metallic sheen lifted up, broke away, and began to float around it. A sharp, platinum-gold light flashed in the pupils of the White Tiger that was Bai Jingtiao. Vast, metallic Spiritual Power then gathered on those floating strands of fur, forging them into enormous Flying Swords of Spiritual Power.

With an eruption of incredibly sharp Metal Qi that felt as if it could tear through any obstacle, more than twenty golden Flying Swords shot out, streaking toward the Moon Rocks raining down from above.

This Sword Emission Technique, which used the essence of his fur to gather Geng Metal Qi, was powerful enough to easily pierce several aircraft carriers or penetrate the armor of an underground nuclear bunker. Moreover, Bai Jingtiao’s transformation into his Extraordinary Peak White Tiger True Body amplified the Secret Technique’s power even further.

Instantly, before the giant Moon Rocks could land, they were sliced and torn to shreds by the countless, nimble golden Flying Swords, shattering into fragments that rained down from the sky. An entire armored division would have fared no differently against such an attack. This was the perfect demonstration of the power of the Extraordinary Peak—a force that transcended the Mortal World.

Having shattered all the incoming Moon Rocks, the Flying Swords continued on, their momentum unabated, shooting toward the nearest ‘Shapeless’. For a moment, golden sword-light streaked across the Moon Surface like shooting stars.

However, they were stopped dead in their tracks.

Just as the golden Flying Swords were about to strike the Shapeless, its silvery, gelatinous body writhed, and a translucent, honeycomb-patterned shield materialized over its surface. Like an indestructible wall, it firmly blocked the Flying Swords’ assault.

Soon, as Bai Jingtiao’s Spiritual Power was depleted, the golden Flying Swords reverted to their true nature as the White Tiger’s fur, only to shatter in mid-air and turn to ash.

Meanwhile, Gu Yaoluo, sitting in the rear of the Moon Surface Vehicle, was staring at the instrument panel in front of him, rapidly performing calculations. By observing the brief exchange between Bai Jingtiao and the Shapeless, he had quickly grasped the fluctuating pattern of the surrounding Spiritual Power bursts.

“Captain, here!”

He shouted, transmitting all the data he had gathered to the young man who had been waiting.

Countless data points scrolled across the screen of his spacesuit, and a red marker appeared on the map.

“Good.” A smile finally broke across the face of Su Zhou, who had been waiting all this time.

The next instant, the Moon Surface Vehicle jolted violently, and the young man who had been in his seat vanished.

Several thousand meters away, a humanoid figure enveloped in a ball of cyan-purple light raised its right fist high. Like a rocket, it smashed down with immense force upon a seemingly unremarkable ‘Moon Rock’!
