Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 652: The Person Who Wants to Be a Hero
Chapter 652: Chapter 11: The Person Who Wants to Be a Hero
But the pain did little to stop Zhou Buyi’s counterattack. Two of his eight arms gripped Su Zhou’s Dragon Horns while four pinned Su Zhou’s shoulders and arms. The remaining two continuously hammered Su Zhou’s back, trying to rip the horns from his body. Not to be outdone, Su Zhou gathered more than forty-five Dragon Breath Cannons around himself. Their furious streams of Divine Light focused on the Divine Wood Giant Statue’s head and limbs, burning massive holes through it.
On the ground below, the agents from the Martial Artist Administration Bureau and the Demon Suppression Bureau, who had already sealed off the entire Divine Wood District, looked up in shock. They saw a Giant and a Giant Dragon, locked in a desperate struggle, plummeting like a flaming meteor toward the deserted area at the base of the Divine Wood’s roots.
The world was a sea of crimson.
“A D-Demon Dragon!”
“That’s… that’s the Bureau Chief’s statue?! It’s alive?!”
“The Bureau Chief is fighting some kind of Monster!”
The shocked crowd had no time to think, for a tremendous roar soon followed, along with violent, earthquake-like tremors. Countless tons of dirt and dust were thrown into the sky, forming a twisting pillar of smoke that obscured the falling meteor.
But within the pillar of dust and smoke, the battle was not over. In fact, it was just getting started.
“Su Zhou!”
An enraged roar echoed from the Soul within the swinging Giant Statue. Its eight arms struck like eight different weapons—some fists, some palms, some blades, some hammers. Zhou Buyi’s voice shook the Spirit Realm. “For the past one hundred and fifty years, you were the deterrent to the Hundred Schools! You made it so that no one in the Tianzheng Alliance dared to exploit the Divine Wood Power, or even engage in corruption!”
“But now, those people are dead. The world today has never witnessed your grand deeds in defense of this world. No one needs your deterrence anymore… So, become a threat!”
“Become a threat to our world. Become our enemy. That is how you will unite everyone against a common foe, how you will make them tremble before a new Demon Emperor! If the world never knows turmoil, how can anyone appreciate the value of peace? If no enemy raises a banner against us, how will anyone remember why our Belief was born?”
—If there is no enemy, then create one!
This was the choice Zhou Buyi had made long ago. That was why he created separatists and tolerated the Undying Sect. Without an external enemy, the Tianzheng Alliance was doomed to devolve into political maneuvering and infighting among its one hundred and forty-four states. And if that happened, what difference was there between being nominally united under one flag and being truly divided? Peace would be lost. No one would remember why Tianzheng was founded, nor would they care for the sacrifices of the trailblazers that name represented.
What can truly unite more than half the world, dozens of ethnic groups, and hundreds of different cultural regions has never been a slogan, a creed, or a faith, but a common enemy! It is always true, whether that enemy’s name is Death, Terrorism, the Great Depression, Nuclear War, or even Aliens.
But even so, Zhou Buyi was unwilling to truly stir up turmoil as the price for peace. And so, he wanted Su Zhou to become that target—even if it was just an act, a pretense.
Therefore, he needed a battle—a real battle. One that would be painful enough for him, painful enough for everyone, and terrifying enough to make the entire Tianzheng Alliance tremble in fear!
A battle between Celestial Spirit Martial Gods, one that could destroy everything! A battle that would make ordinary people cower, tremble, and pray they never saw its like again!
“You really are a model leader, you son of a bitch. You don’t hold back one bit when it comes to using an old friend!”
Countless Gale Seeds flew around Su Zhou, coalescing into shields of various shapes and arms made of air. Though Su Zhou didn’t have eight real arms, he could create far more than eighty points of attack. He met Zhou Buyi fist for fist, palm for palm, impact for impact. A massive hurricane erupted from thin air, and the earth shook violently as the two behemoths battered one another. The tremors were so intense that the blockade line, as well as the long-deserted park buildings, all crumbled like sandcastles and were reduced to nothing.
If a battle between those at the Extraordinary Tier could briefly create the Power of Celestial Phenomenon, summon Celestial Thunder, and destroy a city block—or even a small district—with the destructive force of an artillery barrage…
…then a battle between those at the Commander Tier could easily demolish a city’s infrastructure, unleashing enough destructive power to affect hundreds of buildings, or even wipe out the entire city!
Just like now. Amidst the shriek of Tearing air, Su Zhou’s eyes blazed like two raging Flames. Beneath his feet lay the park entrance, now crushed to dust. For thousands of meters in every direction, there was nothing but the pulverized remains of buildings.
The superheated wind, hundreds of degrees hot, was enough to extinguish all life in the area. Even bacteria would have a hard time surviving on the battlefield between him and Zhou Buyi.
Of course, the area was deserted. He and Zhou Buyi had chosen their location carefully before making a move. Even so, any onlookers—be they from the Demon Suppression Bureau or ordinary people recording the event—would surely see this level of destruction and imagine what would happen if such a battle took place downtown. Two Celestial Spirit Martial Gods had fought for less than ten seconds, and this was the result.
As for Zhou Buyi’s proposal, Su Zhou’s response was a loud laugh. To others, it sounded like an untamed Dragon’s Roar, while in the Spirit Realm, the voice of his Soul shook heaven and earth. “Zhou Buyi, I accept. On one condition: you have to survive my all-out attack.”
Immediately after, a furious torrent of energy erupted from Su Zhou’s back, forming Dragon wings of pure light. He flew into the air, and endless thunderstorm clouds began to gather above his head.
Thunder Light flashed and steam billowed. The Flame and superheated wind created a milky-white, boiling water vapor thousands of degrees hot. And from within this scorching white mist, two points of violet-cyan Spiritual Light flared to life. The eyes of the Immortal Dragon shone like stars.
“—Ten seconds! I can only go all-out for ten seconds.”
“Survive for ten seconds, and I’ll do what you ask!”
A voice replied without a moment’s hesitation.
“Fine!”
Then, in the next instant.
A waterfall of Thunder Light tore the heavens and the earth asunder.
