Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 614 - 55: An Atmosphere Where I’m the Only One Who Can’t Keep Up
"I already possess Near-God Power. Any higher, and I’d be at the level of the Immortal Gods."
In the teahouse, Su Zhou spoke as he casually flexed his fingers. Though invisible to the naked eye, one could clearly sense that each finger had far more than eight joints. They might as well have been made from some special, flexible material that was both dexterous and tough. "An ordinary world is unlikely to offer me much. As for their Martial Arts and Magic, I can create low-level ones myself. High-level ones would surely be difficult to obtain, assuming they exist at all."
"Ultimately, most human Martial Arts are techniques designed for the body of an ordinary human. For a being at the Extraordinary Tier or above, the limitations are far too great. A joint lock might restrain a human, but it can’t restrain a Transcendent who can shapeshift, shrink, grow, or even transform into a Flowing Body, a gas, or an Elemental Body."
"On the other hand, the physical structures of Spirit Beasts and Divine Beasts are a form of ’power’ I can easily imitate and acquire. And Yara’s world should be a world of Dragon Serpents, right? There, I can disguise myself as an ordinary Dragon Species, hunt for the bloodlines I need, analyze their strengths, weaknesses, and principles, enhance my True Body, and even optimize my human form."
This was why Su Zhou chose to use himself as a Beacon to travel to the Yara World.
It had to be said, his reasoning was perfectly logical and irrefutable. Shao Qiming just sat to the side, sipping his tea.
"What are you thinking, you brat!"
But Yara, not being human, was wary. "It’s one thing for you to go and wreak havoc on the Divine Wood and the Silent Lord’s turf, but now you want to do the same to me? Besides, I already escaped. It has no effect on the Great Seal... And you want me to go back?!"
"To be fair, the greatest potential rewards are in the place I know best!"
Although he knew it might be hard on Yara emotionally, Su Zhou still argued his case. "It’s like an author entering a world they wrote. You must know where all the lucky breaks and cheats are, right? I might not use them, but they would definitely enrich my database and prepare me to reach the next level!"
"Not necessarily."
The Snake Spirit suddenly grew calm. "A Great Being’s projection doesn’t descend upon just one world. If you establish the connection, you’ll certainly go to a world related to me, and that world will inevitably have my projection. But in my current, sealed state, I won’t necessarily know what that world is actually like."
"Take the Silent Lord, for example. Do you really think he only has a projection in the Century of Reincarnation? That was simply the world the Shepherd of Spirits connected to using this little guy, which is why you were guided there. Any place where Reincarnation exists bears its shadow."
Yara wasn’t actually refusing to let Su Zhou go to its home turf... not that it could really be called its turf, seeing as it was still under a Seal.
Its worries stemmed from a different problem entirely.
"The connection between me and my main body is actually severed while I’m here on Earth."
The Snake Spirit soaked in the teacup. It was currently mimicking a Blood Slime, enjoying the tea by absorbing the liquid through its body. "And unlike other Great Beings, once I knew a part of me had escaped the Seal, I was no longer consumed by bitterness and hatred, nor did I feel the need to make any big moves. In other words, I have no idea what kind of influence my personality would have on a world when there’s no pressure on me."
"In a good way, or a bad way?"
Su Zhou asked, with great caution, an almost childishly simple question. Yara replied patiently, "It would definitely be good, at least in my opinion. Look, I haven’t done anything bad so far, have I? But I don’t know if what the ’me’ over there considers ’good’ is the same for humans."
"After all, Yara, besides being the Source of Dragon Serpents, you also seem to be the Source of Demons... That’s definitely a cause for alarm."
Su Zhou understood completely. There was no clear distinction between good and evil in this world. It was just like the Silent Lord’s "love," which was so cruel to humans fixated on the Reincarnation of a single lifetime. What Yara considered "good" could be some kind of bizarre torture to the people of Earth. ’Especially since I’m the one acting as the Beacon—I know exactly what kind of person I am. A world full of Demons seems just as likely as a world of Dragon Serpents.’
"That’s true..."
Hearing this, even Yara seemed to agree. "That is indeed a concern."
At this moment, Shao Qiming, who was sipping tea off to the side, was rather puzzled. "That’s strange. If the whole world were full of people like Azhou, wouldn’t that be great?"
But at this, Yara noticed Su Zhou’s misunderstanding. From the slight frown on Su Zhou’s face, it was obvious that he was very sensitive about the other aspect of Yara’s being—the ’Demon’ factor, which existed alongside the Dragon and Snake Blood.
After all, Yara’s Blood was not purely Dragon and Snake Blood.
"Su Zhou, do you really think that the instinct of a ’Demon’ is simply to do evil?"
"Isn’t it?" Su Zhou blinked. He paused for a moment before continuing, "Maybe not pure evil... but if something is called a Demon, it can’t be good. After all, the name itself tells you something."
Sensing the deep-seated prejudice and hostility in Su Zhou’s opinion of Demons, Yara grew uncharacteristically serious and said earnestly, "Demons aren’t so contemptible, any more than Dusk, which is bent on destroying everything, is."
