Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 613 - 55: This Atmosphere Where I’m the Only One Who Can’t
To Su Zhou, who possessed the Celestial God Seal, the Leader of the Spirit Summoning Association—who held the auras of numerous Great Beings and had transformed himself into an ’Evil Demon’—was nothing short of a wholesale gift basket.
Setting aside the ’Silent Lord World’ of the Shepherd of Spirits, which he had already visited, Su Zhou had obtained the auras of four other valuable Great Beings during his venture into the Demon Realm.
The first of these was from the Reborn: the ’Nirvana Lord.’ The Nirvana Lord was also known by another name—the ’Phoenix,’ the source of all Divine Birds and an old acquaintance of Yara’s.
However, putting aside the fact that the Reborn himself had been burned by Karmic Fire over ten thousand times, leaving his Soul incomplete and the Great Being’s aura impossible to extract, Su Zhou had no intention of visiting that godforsaken place even if he had obtained the complete aura.
’Why would someone with my Dragon and Snake Bloodline go running off to the territory of Divine Birds? If an Immortal God Level Golden-winged Roc actually popped out and ate me, what could I possibly do?’
That had been his reasoning at the time as he flatly refused. ’After all, not every Divine Bird is like that young lady, Jin Qiong—gentle, kind, and considerate.’
Second was the Spirit Summoner. The Celestial God legacy he had obtained was apparently called the ’Celestial Principle Beings.’ This name was a bit difficult to comprehend, and Yara hadn’t explained the true nature of this Great Being.
Since he didn’t even know its true nature, Su Zhou certainly wasn’t bored enough to go exploring blindly in a place where the fog of war hadn’t even been lifted.
Next was the Controller. This unlucky woman had tried to Curse Su Zhou, only for it to backfire and cost her her life in a baffling turn of events. She left behind the legacy of a Great Being called the ’Destiny Pusher.’ As the name suggested—and to be frank—it sounded incredibly dangerous. This entity was clearly the type with an insatiable desire for control, and would certainly be less approachable than the Silent Lord or the Divine Wood.
Su Zhou had no desire to go to another world just to become someone else’s plaything. Besides, Yara’s attitude toward this particular being wasn’t very positive, so visiting was out of the question.
The final one was the Exchanger. The information on the Great Being from his Celestial God legacy pointed to a being that, according to Yara, was relatively benevolent—even more so than the Silent Lord. Or rather, it possessed almost no subjective will.
In the Spirit Summoning Association, it was referred to as the ’Balance of Truth’ and the ’Master of Balance.’
’Strange, how did this one get Sealed too?’ That had been Yara’s comment. According to it, it could understand why others, and even itself, had been Sealed. But for the ’Balance Scale’—a fundamental principle common to all worlds—to be Sealed was simply not normal.
"It *is* Equivalent Exchange, the arbiter of all sacrificial rituals." At the time, Yara had been so confused it nearly twisted its tail into a pretzel. Perched on Su Zhou’s head, it was completely mystified. "Don’t tell me the act of sacrifice itself has degenerated to such a point?"
"Then again, it makes sense. After all, blood sacrifice, human sacrifice, and all manner of evil rituals are also forms of Equivalent Exchange... While the principle itself is neither good nor evil, it provides its users with a channel to commit both atrocities and good deeds."
In short, among all the options, only the world of the Balance Scale seemed worth a visit. He had already been to the Reincarnation World. He had no intention of visiting the Dusk World, which originated from the Dusk True Demon and the Silent. As for the Divine Wood World of the Planters, it was currently integrating itself into the Black Forest of the Demon Realm—a state equivalent to death, though not truly dead—and he had been there before as well.
But at the end of the day, Su Zhou was long past the early stages where he had been desperate for resources and techniques.
Ordinary people can’t truly achieve complete control over their bodies. Forget about willing their fingers to lift and fall or making their eyes rotate in different directions; a significant number of ordinary people can’t even tell left from right on short notice.
Learning any kind of Technique requires a long period of Cultivation for them.
For an Extraordinary Tier Cultivator, however, their own body is something they can master completely. The techniques gained from honing Martial Arts and training the body’s instinctive reactions are, in essence, about using the fastest and most efficient methods to unleash the greatest destructive power with the least amount of force.
But once an Extraordinary Tier Cultivator completely masters their body, which has been transformed by Spiritual Power, they can simply ’learn’ what is typically the most time-consuming aspect of any Martial Art: honing the body’s instincts. They only need to study the techniques of a Martial Art. After understanding the muscle movements and Spiritual Power circulation of an enemy’s technique, they can replicate it perfectly.
After all, no matter how profound a Martial Art or Magic might be, as long as it doesn’t involve overly complex Spiritual Power circulation, Rune structures, or coordination with a special Heart Method, an Extraordinary Tier Cultivator with complete control over their body can analyze it with a single glance.
Of course, their proficiency, application, and the form honed over long practice would certainly be inferior to the original practitioner. But if they completely understood the technique, an Extraordinary Tier Cultivator could build up their proficiency very quickly.
This was why, back then, Su Zhou had been able to learn the Earth and Water Magic used for healing in the Reincarnation World simply by observing it with his Spiritual Vision. For him now, having advanced to the Commander Tier, the vast majority of techniques in the Mortal World were things he could grasp at a glance. The energy provided by most resources couldn’t even compare to a single deep breath taken in a place rich with Spiritual Qi.
