Monsters Die When Killed

Chapter 615 - 55: This Atmosphere Where I’m the Only One Who’s No Good

With that, it added emphatically, "The essence of a Demon... is to question the ’current’ Order."

"God’s Order—question it—and tempt people to overthrow it."

"Man’s Order—question it—and tempt others to overthrow it."

"This is the most fundamental instinct of all Demons, and their inherent duty. If you call this a ’bad thing,’ well, that’s undeniable. However, if ’Demons’ didn’t exist within a civilization, it could never continue to develop."

Upon hearing this, Shao Qiming, who had been listening quietly nearby, showed a subtle change in expression. He spoke up, "If you’re making a comparison... doesn’t that sound a bit like a progressive?"

"You call that progress? No, young man, that’s too one-sided."

Hearing Shao Qiming’s words, Yara shook its head. It wasn’t trying to defend Demons, but merely to explain the essence of their existence. "A Demon doesn’t care whether the Order it questions becomes better or worse, or whether it moves forward or backward. Progress is simply not within a Demon’s scope of thought."

"It simply questions, tempts, and opposes everything that exists. Even in a Utopia, in a divine paradise, in a situation with absolutely no reason to rebel, it can find a reason for discontent, opposition, and resistance."

—Only questioning and resistance can bring about great change; they are the greatest initial driving force.

—In the Reincarnation of endless Time, anticipating all that is meaningless, and all that is meaningful.

—Anticipating all people, and everything they will do.

The ’Demon’—that serpent which tempted man to eat the Fruit of Discriminating Good and Evil—is the very being that creates change. It is what allows all stories to be born and unfold throughout the world, emerging from that initial, stable, and perfect, yet also utterly dull and stagnant, divine paradise.

Change itself is neither good nor evil.

It hoped Su Zhou would grasp this concept, understand its essence more profoundly, and in turn, more fully and effectively unearth the power within himself.

"What a contrarian."

But Su Zhou’s assessment was remarkably simple. After hearing it all, he let out a "tsk." "When you talked about this before, it didn’t leave much of an impression. But now that you’ve laid it all out, isn’t that basically the number-one super-contrarian of all time? No wonder every intelligent being in every world thinks Demons are evil..."

"That’s your only takeaway?"

Yara was deeply pained, feeling that this one was truly unteachable. "Couldn’t you at least say a few more words?!"

Meanwhile, Shao Qiming thought to himself, ’That’s Azhou for you. Such a spot-on summary.’

"I actually have a lot of thoughts on it, but now isn’t the time to discuss them."

Su Zhou just smiled and stood up. "After all, whether it’s the world of the Dragon Serpent or the world of Demons, the more you say, the more interested I become. I haven’t changed my mind—if anything, I’m even more excited now."

Then, he raised his head to look out the window. Su Zhou’s Spiritual Vision pierced the sky, gazing directly at the endless rift Above the High Heavens.

"Every Great Being represents a unique logic, a unique philosophy, and even a unique structure for the world... Though I’ve only been to two worlds, I’ve already come to deeply understand the logic of the Tree of the Great Dao and the Silent Lord, as well as their ’love.’ Even though I don’t agree with their ideas, I can understand them. That way, whether I support or oppose them, I can walk my own path with even greater resolve."

With his back to Yara and Shao Qiming, Su Zhou narrowed his eyes, gazing directly at the setting sun. Fueled by his Spiritual Power, his vision began to expand. A wider light spectrum, and even the lines of Spiritual Power themselves, all merged into his visual Perception system.

The world as seen through human eyes may seem dazzlingly colorful, but compared to the true world, it is as drab as a blank sheet of paper. A mountain is never just its surface of soil and forest; it possesses a far more massive foundation and origin.

And the mind of a living being is the same—this is true for both humans and serpents.

Su Zhou’s vision transcended the glass, the clouds, and the motes of dust in the atmosphere.

He saw directly the canopy of the Cosmos, the radiation fields beyond the atmosphere, and the endless rift suspended high in some unknown place.

Gazing at all this, Su Zhou spoke calmly. "And you, Yara... we’ve traveled together for so long, yet even now, I still don’t really know you. Your thoughts, your plans, your schemes, the future you want, the kind of world you envision—I know none of it. You’ve always been open with me, holding nothing back, but in reality, you only offer knowledge and advice. You’re like an encyclopedia, feeding me facts but never revealing your true intentions or your way of thinking."

"That’s not enough. You made a pact with me, you stand with me. I don’t worship you, and you are not my God, but you teach me. I shouldn’t be so completely in the dark about you."

Turning his head, his back to the sunset’s halo, one side of his face was illuminated by the dim, orange-red light. He smiled and said, "So, I want to understand you more deeply, Yara. That’s the only way we can go further together."

Su Zhou never bothered to hide his thoughts. This was his true reason for wanting to go to the Yara World.

Having reached the Commander Tier, the final step before the realm of the Immortal Gods, he was no longer the person he once was, someone with no influence over the world. Once he advanced to the Overlord tier, saving a world, destroying a world, or even changing a world would no longer be impossible.

At that time, his speed at dealing with the worlds beyond the Great Seal and the projections of Great Beings would inevitably reach a new level. He could also, in a very real sense, contribute his own strength to the task of reconstructing the Great Seal.
