Chapter 4567: Merciful
Chapter 4567: Merciful
I watched him as he appeared in the room, as always, he is staying on the other side.
It is the third night he came, and all the nights, he stayed on the other side of the room. He never got close, even a step, which I have to say is commendable.
A few assassins have such patience. Especially when there are direct orders from their boss.
He is to bring me to him.
I have attracted more attention than I had expected. Especially from the two cities that are fighting. My hospital has zero casualties, which is beyond shocking.
Even their own healers by the battlefield didn’t have that record as I have.
Some of them have started to send their best people to heal me. They will reach me in two days, with the speed at which they are coming toward me.
Thinking of them, I extended my soul sense, and it reached them in an instant.
They are moving at this time. Changing beasts, so they could reach the city as soon as possible.
I turned off my soul sense and turned to the man. Today, I have no desire to use the mind illusion as I did for two nights. I can’t have him watch me while I practice.
I become most vulnerable at this time.
Though I know, even at such weakness, it will be extremely hard for him to kill me. Surprises happen, and I have no desire to play with my life.
So, in the next fifteen minutes, either he will take action or I will.
Minutes ticked by, I watched, but not with a complete focus. He is not worth my focus; I am only paying a little attention because I find this whole thing funny.
Still, most of my focus is on my inheritance.
I am doing well, but its vast and I have barely started working on it. It’s going to take some time, but it will be incredible, I can already feel it.
I have a vision planned for my inheritance. If I succeeded and made a breakthrough, my chances of survival would increase tremendously.
Not to mention, I will be able to boost this persona. Nobody will have a single doubt then.
I cleared my thoughts and focused on the formation in front of me. It’s a small one, but extremely complex. If it worked, I would have another important part of my defensive shields ready.
My defences are my strength; they have saved me from enemies much stronger than me.
I am making my defenses as strong as possible. So they will be able to save me from enemies I could not defeat.
Suddenly, I stopped and pulled all my focus out as the assassin had appeared beside me. All the uncertainty had vanished from his face, and it had hardened.
His hand moved fast and touched my chest. As it did, energy shot out, which spread externally and internally.
I opened my eyes, and he looked at me, with a guilt flashing only for a moment, before returning to an impassive state.
My eyes widened, and I struggled against the energy, with surprise appearing in his eyes.
"Primary-III as I expected. It was a good thing, I was careful," he said to himself, and pushed more power. Soon, the struggle began to ease until I was completely frozen.
"I like to hurt healers, but orders are orders. We need you, especially now that we know you are Primary-III. Your help is going to save a lot of lives," he stated, while I looked at him accusingly.
"I apologize, Healer Ross, and promise you that I will set you free after the war is over," he said and lifted me up from the bed.
As he did, he moved me, or at least tried to, but found I didn’t budge from my spot. He didn’t try again and slowly looked at my face, only to see me smiling.
"In many states, there is a rule not to touch the healers," I said slowly.
The man looked at me and shuddered. I thought he would run away, but the man did not. Instead, he sighed. "It is war, and we needed your expertise," he replied.
"You had just tried to kidnap, when I did nothing but heal your people," I said.
"I am quite angry. I could wipe your whole side," I added, and the man shuddered. "My apologies, Sovereign. Please don’t kill others for mistake of a few."
"You are free to kill me, but please spare others," he requested with his head bowed.
"You deserve punishment, and so does your boss, or should I say, your lover, since she is the one who had sent you here," I said, and he shuddered with true fear appearing in his eyes for the first time.
"Spare her, your majesty, I beseech you. You can do anything you want to me," he begged, and I smiled.
"You have tried to kidnap me; there will be punishment," I said, and before he could say anything, both of us disappeared.
Less than a minute later, we appeared in the abode inside a war camp. It’s a bedroom, we have appeared in. I looked at the bed in front of me, and there was a silvery-haired elf sleeping.
She is tired; she just fought a long battle a few hours ago. It injured her; by tomorrow, she will recover fully.
He turned with horror in his eyes. He had already done what I did; even the strongest powerhouse of the island couldn’t do.
He opened his mouth, but I simply tapped on his head. He froze up completely.
"Consider this a warning. Next time, you do something like this, the punishment will be far worse," I said and disappeared.
I could have killed him and everywhere else, but the man didn’t have any intention to harm me other than kidnapped. I also liked that he apologised.
If he had rude or even slightest killing intent. I would have killed him without hesitation.
