Chapter 4566: Day

"We are done, shift the green tagged patients," I ordered as I made the round in a large hall.

The order followed immediately, and the beds moved. There is an elevator where one bed after another disappeared, before empty beds replaced them.

There are now four patients remaining; these are the critical ones. I would need to keep an eye on them.

I checked their conditions once more before walking to my office. Usually, I teach after dealing with patients, but two more carts of them will be coming in next thirty to forty minutes.

They will need all the rest that they can.

Before, I used to teach them twice, sometimes thrice, a day. Now, only once, if lucky. They have given us a big facility, but the workload has increased just as much.

Looking at the state of war, it didn’t seem like it. It’s going to stop soon.

There is no trust, with many festering issues. Not to mention, the leaders of both states have no interest in peace. They want each other’s territories.

I am glad that the leader of this city is smart enough to keep her city away from the conflict.

Speaking of her, she is now looking at me. She has been doing that more and more for the past few days. I don’t mind, it’s not like she is seeing everything.

I am not using any illusions; I am still working within the limits of the power I am projecting, aside from Soul Sense. So, I know every movement of hers and decide what to show and what not to.

I have to say, I am having quite a lot of fun with it. Looking at her expressions, the indecision that appeared on her face when she looked at me, or sneakily used her soul sense.

I like it when she does different things to see if I notice her. I acted as if I did not, which both frustrated and relieved her.

A powerhouse stronger than her could doom her or help her.

I have no interest in doing anything other than my job. I am saving every patient coming to me.

I lay agaisnt my chair, like I am tired, but I am looking at each of the apprentices who is taking care of the patients. In a few weeks, they have learned a lot.

Most of them already had the knowledge and some years of experience.

Now, under my guidance, they are using it proficiently.

So much so that four of them, if tested right now, will become a Grade I healer. Others are close, and many are learning fast. I believe that by the time the war is over, there will be a lot more Grade I healers.

Which is a good thing, because this city and others around it need healers.

I pushed those thoughts and looked at the apprentices. Each one of them handles the low-risk ones. They are not ready to handle the high-risk ones.

Those, I am dealing with myself.

Twenty-eight minutes passed, and I opened my eyes as the bell rang out. I looked out of the window and saw two carriages carrying the patient coming in.

My people moved with surgical efficiency and brought the patients out of the carriages into the hospital.

I saw the first patient coming inside as he reached me. I touched him to examine.

"Hyth, handle her," I said, without giving further directions, and moved toward the second patient, another woman, who already lost a hand.

"Kali, clean her injuries and cover them with paste number 54," I ordered, before moving to the third patient.

This one is nearly dead. If something isn’t done in a few minutes, he will die.

Foolish.

I muttered as I saw the energies inside; the man had consumed the healing herb, but did not think about the backlash, or maybe he didn’t have a choice.

The herb was powerful for his level; its energies caused a backlash inside him.

Now, these energies are not healing him, but killing him. Well, I would not say they didn’t help him. They are healing him and also overwhelming him.

This herb releases its power slowly. So, initially, it healed him, before tormenting him.

Without this herb, he would have died. He is nearly dead, but now I have to save him, and I moved toward him immediately.

I moved my energies into his body, which soon began to turn into the runes. Soon, a formation formed.

Buzz!

I activated it immediately and moved toward the energy. As I did, it began to suck the energies away, and soon, it sucked all the rampaging healing energies of his body.

As it did, it flared, and a few seconds later, it began to release the energy back into his body.

Though the healing energies are different compared to when they went inside. They are mellowed, with a bad element inside them filtered out.

Now, this is pure healing energy that is spreading inside him. Within seconds, his condition began to improve.

As I had said, he had eaten a powerful healing herb.

I didn’t looked at him anymore, knowing healing energy will do its job. I moved to the different patients.

One by one, I checked the patients, and when I was done, I took the class and then had dinner with the apprentice.

I may not be able to give her time, she needs throughout the day, but at dinner, I give her all the attention and answer every question she has.

After that, I teach her for an hour and check the patient again before retiring to my suite on the top floor of the hospital.

After I reached, I lay down on the bed and closed my eyes. A moment later, I am in my core working on my inheritance. I do that everywhere, and I am making incredible progress despite working for only a short time.

It was near midnight, and I was nearly finished, when I sensed the man entering my room.

I hope he will have the guts today!
