Chapter 4568: Parasite

Chapter 4568: Parasite

"Is it really ending?" asked Mira as she burst into my office. "Yes," I replied.

"I can’t believe it!" she said, with her expressive eyes wide. I am a little surprised as well. I didn’t think my little threat would end the war within days.

I didn’t plan to interfere until the assassin attacked me.

He is still in the bedroom, frozen with terror in his eyes and mouth open wide. He cannot talk to anyone through his mouth or telepathy, nor can he change his expressions communicate.

He is well and truly frozen, and it had terrorised the woman.

"But our work is far from finished, the patients are coming, and they will keep coming through the week and more. So, there will be no rest," I said, and the girl smiled, a little tiredly.

"How do you feel about wanting to become a healer now?" I asked. Earlier, she had only seen a small glimpse of it. In the past few weeks, she had seen the true reality.

"I want to become a healer even more now," she replied, and this time, I smiled.

"Take some rest; you will not be able to take any by midnight," I said to her. She nodded and walked out of my office. I watched her leave before turning to my core.

I am not tired, not even a little bit. I may be playing a Primary, but I am Sky Sovereign.

In power, I am as strong as the strongest Primes. It would require someone of that level to make me tired. So, I am using the time to work on my inheritance.

Time passed quickly, and soon three carriages’ worth of patients arrived.

I moved, began to heal, and started directing others. I moved from patient to patient. Handling those that the apprentices could handle, while healing those that they could not.

Minutes passed, and I stopped in front of another patient. A man in his early sixties.

There are gracious wounds on his chest and back, with powerful, fiery energies. I inspected him before sending my energy inside him.

Soon, the formation formed and began to swallow the energy and release it from him. Seeing that, I smiled and was about to leave when I noticed something.

It shouldn’t have been able to affect his lifeforce such.

Grievous injuries drain lifeforce, but here I am seeing a signature of something else. There are marks of life-force drainage, and that is long before the injuries.

These are very faint marks that even most Sky Sovereign healers weren’t able to discover.

I was able to because I put meticulous focus on it. Especially, I had developed the move to burn my life force for extra power.

I moved my energy toward the marks, but I couldn’t see more with the limitations I had put on myself.

I thought for a moment before my terrifying soul sense unlocked and moved into the body like a whisper. Immediately, his meta-scan appeared in front of me and became clearer by the second.

The marks appeared in front of me, a thousand times clearer than before.

As I saw them, I couldn’t help but appear in my eyes. I had expected many things, hidden injuries, an art, but not this. At least not in this secluded space.

My soul sense moved deeper into it and soon found a culprit.

It’s a star-shaped parasite with iridescent scales on its body. Its tiny, but it is as powerful as Sovereign. Seeing deep anger, I couldn’t help but flash in my eyes.

I am not angry because it’s a parasite. I am angry because it is a foreign parasite.

I have dealt with enough of them to recognize their repulsive energy immediately. I wanted to crush it, but I controlled my emotions.

Instead, I focused on meta-scan and studied it deeply, while I did that.

A figure came out of me. It looked the same as me, felt the same as me. Even Sovereign here won’t be able to recognise the difference between it and real.

It isn’t just copy; its capable of real thoughts.

I didn’t usually use this because it’s useless. Sky Sovereigns will be able to see something wrong, and Prime’s would instantly see what it is.

So, there is no need to use it, but in these circumstances. It’s very useful. I watched it for a moment as it moved toward the patients, then focused on Metascan.

Fucking hell!

I cursed a few minutes later as I was finally able to calculate how long this parasite had been inside this man’s body. Its long, about fifty-years long.

It had entered the man’s body, with days or weeks of maturation of his veins.

It had been slowly draining his life force. In the fifty years, it had drained enough to reach the Sovereign, which shouldn’t be possible, but it is when the parasite affects it psychologically.

The man is forced to eat things that produce lifeforce.

Looking at things, he had eaten things that would have killed a normal person, but the parasite had kept him alive. It had turned this man into a walking, talking feeder.

The worst thing is, in a few years. The parasite would have drained him fully and killed him.

It’s not something I got from meta-scan, but in the library. My clones were able to find out what kind of foreign it is and what it does.

The more I read, the angrier I became.

These parasites turn these people into puppets. The worst thing is, they didn’t control the whole mind. No, they only control the part of the mind that focuses on the thing they want.

It turned them into a completely different person.

I looked at Parasite while my clones read through every detail about it. This is not a single thing; it is part of the hive. One leader controls everything.

Once the host dies, these parasites return to the master, which absorbs them and the life force they have absorbed.
