Chapter 1691: The Next Agenda

Chapter 1691: The Next Agenda

“I… never want to go through that… ever again.”

“At least… we won’t have to dive that deep… in the future.”

Letting out sighs of exhaustion as they left the mountain containing the Ocean of Crystallized Truths, both Valyr and Ataraxia decided to take a quick break near the entrance to give themselves some time to catch their breaths.

Laying down on the cool ground as they briefly gave their eyes some rest, the two could not help but think back to what they just went through, which caused their bodies to slightly shudder in response.

After parting ways with Quentin, Vaughn, and Septeine, the two looked at each other for a bit as they wondered how they’d get back to the surface.

Looking around the island for a bit to see if there was any other way out of the place, the two were eventually forced to accept the fact that the only way out of the Sanctum of Crystallized Truths was to head back through the path they came from.

…Which was to dive the 10 kilometer deep Ocean of Crystallized Truths in reverse.

Though a considerable portion of the journey back wasn’t much of a problem to the two with their empowered Intents, the fact that they had to swim through 10 kilometers of water just to get back to the surface did affect their mental states in some way.

Add on the various obstacles that faced them at around the 2,000 meter mark of the ocean, by the time the two got back to the surface, both Valyr and Ataraxia asked themselves if Vaughn was a sadist of some sort.

After all, both the Four Pillars’ Inheritance and the Trial of Crystallized Truths inflicted mental anguish to them in one form or another.

Nevertheless, since the two of them had to go through the most difficult stretch of the ocean either way, the two took the opportunity to see how much their comprehension speed would be boosted if they were to stay at that depth.

Unsurprisingly, with how long it took them to break through the 2,000 meter mark the first time, the two weren’t able to endure for that long, only being able to comprehend a sliver of their concepts for just a brief moment.

However, that brief moment was enough for them to realize how much of a difference there was between the spot they stopped at and the spot that would have given the greatest benefits.

While comprehending at a depth of around 850 meters gave them a comprehension rate that was 80 times faster than usual, comprehending at a depth of 2,000 meters on the other hand gave them a comprehension rate of…

200 times.

“With the effects of [Perception of the Grand Origin] on top of that, we would have achieved our goals at less than half the time we spent near the thousand meter mark,” said Valyr, slowly opening his eyes after that.

“That only applies if we have the ability to stay at that spot for a prolonged amount of time,” replied Ataraxia as he sat upright. “No point in thinking about it for the meantime.”

“True.” Sitting upright as well not long after, the former shrugged his shoulders in response. “In any case, now that we’ve gone through the Ocean of Crystallized Truths, where should we head next?”

“We definitely have to make a stop at the Algerie Imperial Treasury,” said Ataraxia after a bit of thought. “Who knows? We might be able to obtain something from the treasury that boosts our strengths even further.”

“And after that?”

“Beats me.” The young man shrugged his shoulders after that, mulling over the question for a bit. “After that, I might actually go with the plan we discussed earlier about implementing some of the information we received from our legacies.”

“Aside from that, there’s the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture, my mana circuit, grinding the XP we need to reach the max level, and other things that would probably come to mind if I think about it for a bit more.”

“Sounds more or less the same of what I had in mind.” Valyr faintly nodded in understanding. “However, I’d probably focus more on that quest I have on firearms and the Truth Weaver Scripture, seeing as I’ve neglected both for a long time already.”

“How about the Records?” asked Ataraxia in response, recalling that unlike him, his other self had yet to push the Records of Unfettering and Transcending Races to the 3rd Stage. “Also, how about the fusion between mana and Mystic Energy?”

“I’ll save those for after the ascension,” replied the young man after giving the two a bit of thought. “It’s not like my species would improve if I were to push the Records to the 3rd Stage right now.”

“As for the fusion between mana and Mystic Energy, it’d probably be for the best for me to save that for when we eventually break through the shackles of mortality.”

“How so?” Ataraxia raised his eyebrow at those words. “It’s not like fusing the two together would affect your skills or anything.”

“Plus, as far as I remember, you only began to fully embrace Prime Azure Energy the moment you became the Prime Azure Origin,” he continued. “Then again, even if the option to embrace ever did come up, you could just choose not to go through with it.”

“It’s not like you’re forced to choose it anyway.”

“…I’ll think about it,” said Valyr in response, falling silent for a bit as he pondered over the words his other self said to him.

Closing his eyes after that to give himself some time to gather and collect his thoughts, the young man soon let out a soft exhale as he slowly opened his eyes.

“Alright.” Standing up not long after, he then glanced at Ataraxia for a bit before a sudden thought popped up in his head.

“Say, Meyers.”

“You think I could stay at the Azure Coalition for the meantime?”

“Like, after we drop by the treasury?” asked Ataraxia for clarification.

Valyr nodded, only to give the young man a slight grin after that. “Good opportunity to finally take my share of the rewards from the tournament, no?”

Ataraxia could only laugh in response. “As long as you forge a couple more things for the guild in return, then sure.”

“It’s the least I could do as a guest.” Valyr let out a chuckle as well.

“Though, speaking of forging items…”

“Did you grab the armor sets I forged for the guild yet?”
