Chapter 102: High on drugs

  • Next Chapter

Some of the guides that started first were already finishing their first lap when Sly ran past them leaving their egos deflated like balloons.

Sly was literally running circles around them and kicking up dust in their faces and many of them felt embarrassed that they were so out of shape.

"Is that really Sly Foxx!"

"Look at that speed, I didn’t realize that Sly could move so fast."

"I can’t wait for this P.E. class to be over I heard there is a video of Sly arguing with William that’s currently trending!"

"Not again, didn’t William learn his lesson the last time? It’s not the first time Sly stood up against bullying from Wiliam, did you hear about what happened in the cafeteria, it was so bad that even Khaldun Wolfe got involved..."

"It’s been circulating that William was rejected by Sly, lost his shit and beat up a student."

"Wiliam beat up a student, when did that happen?"

"Today before class started, there were rumors going around that he also smashed his phone."

"I’m tired of alpha sentinels getting away with their delinquent behavior. I hope that student presses charges against William, now I definitely want to see that video for myself."

"Damn... Sly is really making me feel like I’m not trying," muttered Jack to himself.

He was just starting his third lap while Sly was already finishing his seventh lap around the field.

Sly’s eyes were fixed on the track and he seemed to be enjoying every second of the tedious running with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Did Jack already mention that he hated running the most?

Even when they finished the ten laps, they had basketball matches to participate in next, they won’t be finishing for the day anytime soon.

Some of his classmates were looking enviously at Sly while others were worried about him.

Most of them knew that he had been in and out of the campus hospital far more times than Sly actually attended class.

So they didn’t think Sly was showing off, it was more like Sly had something to prove because by now everyone had heard that Sly was on probation.

Dean Drakos could get Sly expelled from school if he didn’t do well in all subject areas and deportment.

Those who were jealous of Sly wouldn’t mind him gone since that would be one less competition to participate in the upcoming trials but those who like Sly wanted to see him succeed.

Not only were their classmates astounded by Sly’s display of stamina and speed on the field but also Instructor Perry was shocked.

Especially when some of Sly’s classmates ran up pleading with him to stop Sly from running himself ragged to an early grave.

No one seriously expected the guides from Sly’s class to actually complete the ten laps, much less do it so fast.

When they pointed Sly out on the track Instructor Perry had to take a second look, Sly gave off the appearance of an alpha sentinel from that distance.

"Do you guides think I’m stupid, trying to pull the wool of my eyes. Jokes over which one of you students paid someone from the sentinel class to do your laps. After I have a word with that sentinel’s teacher and make sure the sentinel is properly punished. Then I’m going to make sure that the delinquent guide that hired him does detention from now until the end of the school term."

"It’s not a sentinel sir," observed a student from Instructor Perry’s class. "If I remember correctly that student in the lead is none other than our very own Victor’s half brother from Instructor Emma’s class."

At first Instructor Perry assumed that one of the lazy guides from Instructor Emma’s class had bribed an alpha sentinel to do their ten laps around the track.

Imagine his surprise when it was actually a student from the group of useless guides!

"Such inhuman speed..." Instructor Perry mumbled.

He blinked twice then rubbed his disbelieving eyes feeling like it was a mirage and his eyes were playing tricks on him in the sunlight.

No way one of Instructor Emma’s trash guides were actually faster than his own precious guides from the A tier class.

He was so stunned he couldn’t speak for a few seconds and had to gather his thoughts.

Did Instructor Emma know that one of her students was doping, there could be no other valid explanation for one of her students surpassing his own unless they were high on drugs.

Just recently all the students were tested.

It would have shown up in their system and they are always doing room checks so there was no way students could slip contraband like drugs without it being noticed by someone.

Instructor Perry had to be overthinking this scenario but it was still hard for him to accept that this superb athlete was actually Sly Foxx.

The same student that Dean Drakos was hellbent on throwing out of Paradise Military Academy.

"Jack Winchester come here to me," called out Instructor Perry.

Reluctantly, Jack crawled off the track and ran over to Instructor Perry.

He would rather finish the ten laps than deal with the fiery Instructor Perry.

"Tell me the truth... has your friend Sly Foxx taken any suspicious looking substances recently?"

"No sir, he just got out of the hospital and wouldn’t want to go back anytime soon." replied a puzzled Jack.

Instructor Perry swallowed as he watched Sly Foxx complete his ninth lap barely breaking a sweat while the rest of his peers looked like they were dying on their fourth lap.

The teacher shook his head and swore softly under his breath, Instructor Perry had to face the facts that it was really Sly Foxx in the lead, with such incorrigible speed.

"That’s really Sly Foxx, Instructor Perry," explained Jack Winchester. "Sly heard that we could have some free time after doing the ten laps before having to participate in the basketball matches and in Sly’s typical nature, he wanted to do it quickly and get it over with."

They all watched gobsmacked as Sly slowed down, even running an extra lap at a slow speed just to do a proper cooldown after all that running on the track.

"Sly get over there this instant," screeched Instructor Perry drawing all eyes in their direction and wondering and speculating about what Sly did to draw the ire of a teacher.
