Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)
Chapter 322: Conclusion 4.
The valley was famous because the entire area was filled with floating stones.
Huge pieces of rock drifted above the ground, held up by ancient spiritual currents.
Some were no larger than a fist.
Others were the size of houses.
Small sects had built platforms on the larger stones.
Traveling cultivators used the floating rocks as shortcuts across the valley.
It was a beautiful sight.
Su Yubing stood on the caravan roof and watched them.
Mo Yuxin stood behind her, holding her waist.
"Careful."
Su Yubing smiled.
"I am stronger than you think."
"I know."
"Then why are you holding me?"
"Because I want to."
Su Yubing leaned back against her.
"You always win that argument."
Suddenly a floating rock ahead exploded.
A young cultivator fell out of the debris.
Qin Lian shouted for the caravan to stop.
Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing were already moving.
They landed on the floating rock.
The young man was badly injured.
A group of black-robed cultivators stood on another stone nearby.
The leader was holding a blood-red saber.
"Hand him over."
Mo Yuxin looked at the injured man.
Then at the black-robed cultivators.
"Why?"
"He stole something from us."
The injured man coughed.
"They are lying."
Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.
Su Yubing crouched and checked the young man’s injuries.
"His meridians are damaged."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Then they can explain the matter after he is treated."
The black-robed leader laughed.
"Who do you think you are?"
Mo Yuxin raised her eyebrows.
"I was about to ask you the same thing."
The leader swung his saber.
Blood-colored spiritual energy exploded across the floating rocks.
Mo Yuxin stood still.
The saber stopped in front of her.
The leader’s smile disappeared.
He pushed harder.
Nothing happened.
Mo Yuxin caught the blade between two fingers.
The red light surrounding it immediately faded.
The leader’s expression went pale.
Mo Yuxin snapped the saber in half.
"Go home."
The man stared at the broken weapon.
Then he looked at his companions.
They all ran.
Su Yubing looked at Mo Yuxin.
"You could have just pushed them away."
"I did not like the saber."
"That is not a reason."
"It was ugly."
Su Yubing laughed.
She finished treating the injured man.
The young man slowly opened his eyes.
"Thank you, seniors."
"What did they want?" Su Yubing asked.
The young man hesitated.
"A spirit seal."
"Why?"
He pulled a small wooden box from his robe.
Inside was a golden token.
Qin Lian recognized it.
"That is a Cloudstep Sect token."
The young man nodded.
"I am a disciple of Cloudstep Sect. Those men were from the Blood Saber Hall. They attacked me after I found out they were moving stolen spirit stones through the valley."
Qin Lian frowned.
"That is a serious accusation."
The young man lowered his voice.
"They are not the only ones involved."
He looked toward the distant mountains.
"Someone in Thousand Dao City is buying the stolen goods."
Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing exchanged a glance.
It was not their problem.
At least, it should not have been.
The young man bowed again.
"I am going to report this when I reach the city."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Then do that."
They left him with the caravan guards and continued.
By night, Cloudstep Valley looked completely different.
The floating rocks glowed under the moon.
Spiritual insects moved between them.
Far above, small cultivation platforms sparkled like stars.
The caravan camped beside the valley edge.
Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing sat together beneath a tree.
Su Yubing had her legs stretched over Mo Yuxin’s lap.
Mo Yuxin gently rubbed her feet.
Su Yubing looked at her.
"You know you are spoiling me."
"I know."
"Then keep going."
Mo Yuxin smiled.
"Gladly."
The peaceful moment lasted until a small white rabbit jumped into their camp.
It stopped in front of them.
Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing stared at it.
The rabbit stared back.
Su Yubing whispered, "It is cute."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Yes."
The rabbit suddenly transformed.
A cloud of white smoke exploded.
A little girl appeared where the rabbit had been.
She was around ten years old, had messy hair, and looked extremely offended.
"Why did you stop me?"
Mo Yuxin stared.
"What?"
"You put up a barrier around your camp."
Su Yubing looked at Mo Yuxin.
"Did you?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Habit."
The girl crossed her arms.
"I was trying to steal your roasted meat."
Mo Yuxin handed her a plate.
"Take it."
The girl froze.
"What?"
"You wanted meat."
"But I am a thief."
"A terrible one."
The girl looked offended.
Su Yubing laughed.
"Eat."
The girl sat down and began eating.
Five minutes later, she was happily talking about her life in the mountains.
She turned out to be a low-level rabbit demon who had cultivated enough to transform. She lived with her grandmother in the valley and often sneaked into travelers’ camps to steal food.
Mo Yuxin gave her another piece of meat.
The girl looked suspicious.
"Why are you being nice?"
Mo Yuxin answered, "You are hungry."
The girl thought about that.
Then she looked at Su Yubing.
"Is she always like this?"
Su Yubing nodded.
"Usually."
The girl looked back at Mo Yuxin.
"She is scary."
"She is."
"But you are not scared."
"No."
The girl thought for a while.
"Are you stronger than her?"
Su Yubing smiled.
"That is a secret."
Mo Yuxin leaned closer to Su Yubing.
"She is stronger than me in some things."
The girl asked, "Like what?"
Mo Yuxin looked at her wife.
"Making me happy."
Su Yubing’s ears immediately turned red.
The rabbit girl looked confused.
Then she shrugged and went back to eating.
Later that night, after the girl returned to her grandmother, Su Yubing lay beside Mo Yuxin under the blanket in their temporary tent.
"You said that in front of a child."
"It is true."
"You are shameless."
"Only because you like it."
Su Yubing smiled.
"Maybe."
Mo Yuxin pulled her closer.
