Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)
Chapter 321: Conclusion 3.
Qin Lian approached the edge.
"This was intact yesterday."
Mo Yuxin looked at the broken supports.
"It was cut."
Qin Lian’s expression became serious.
"By people?"
"Yes."
The merchants became nervous.
The road was too narrow to bypass the canyon easily.
One of the older guards climbed onto a rock and looked ahead.
"There are footprints on the other side."
Qin Lian’s hand went to her spear.
"Bandits?"
Mo Yuxin shook her head.
"Not exactly."
Su Yubing looked at the cliff wall.
"There is a formation there."
Everyone followed her gaze.
A faint line of spiritual light ran through the rock.
Qin Lian frowned.
"I cannot see it."
Su Yubing smiled.
"It is old. Someone used the canyon as a killing formation."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Probably intended to trap caravans on the road."
Qin Lian’s face became tense.
"What should we do?"
Mo Yuxin looked down into the canyon.
"Wait here."
She stepped to the edge.
Then she jumped.
Su Yubing did not react.
Qin Lian screamed.
"Senior!"
Mo Yuxin disappeared into the mist.
A heartbeat later, a massive explosion came from the canyon.
The ground shook.
Spiritual light flashed between the cliffs.
Then silence.
Mo Yuxin rose from the canyon carrying a broken formation stone.
She landed beside Su Yubing and handed it over.
"Done."
Qin Lian stared.
"You just broke a mountain formation from inside?"
"Yes."
"By yourself?"
"Yes."
Qin Lian looked at Su Yubing.
Su Yubing smiled.
"She is very good at breaking things."
Mo Yuxin looked offended.
"I can do other things."
"Like?"
"Cooking."
Su Yubing raised an eyebrow.
"You burned noodles yesterday."
"The fire was too strong."
Qin Lian quietly stepped away.
She suddenly felt like she was intruding on a married couple’s private argument.
The caravan found a temporary path around the canyon and continued.
By the afternoon, they entered the first proper cultivation town on the route.
It was called Riverbend Town.
The town was built around a huge river crossing and was famous for two things, spirit boat construction and blacksmithing.
Every street had workshops.
The air smelled of metal, medicinal smoke, and river water.
Large spirit boats sat along the riverbank, some small enough for two people and others large enough to carry hundreds.
Mo Yuxin immediately became interested.
Su Yubing saw the look in her eyes.
"You want to buy one."
"Maybe."
"We already have one."
"That one is old."
"You said it was fine."
"It is fine."
"Then why do you want another?"
Mo Yuxin looked at the largest boat in the harbor.
"Because that one looks good."
Su Yubing smiled.
"There it is."
"What?"
"Your weakness."
"What weakness?"
"Beautiful things."
Mo Yuxin looked at her.
"I married you."
Su Yubing’s face warmed.
"That answer works too well."
They went into the shipyard.
The owner was a broad-shouldered old man with a burn scar across one cheek.
He proudly showed them several ships.
Mo Yuxin asked technical questions.
The old man became impressed.
"You understand formations?"
"A little."
"A little?"
Mo Yuxin pointed at a spiritual array under a ship.
"This one is inefficient."
The old man’s expression changed.
"How?"
Mo Yuxin crouched and touched one of the formation lines.
"The flow is forced in both directions here. It should circulate naturally."
The old man stared.
Su Yubing stood behind her and watched with a smile.
Mo Yuxin spent half an hour explaining the problem.
The old man became more excited with every sentence.
By the end, he had asked Mo Yuxin to rewrite the formation.
Mo Yuxin did.
The old man activated it.
The entire shipyard shook as spiritual energy flowed through the boat.
The ship lifted off the water by itself.
The old man stared at Mo Yuxin.
"Fellow cultivator, what sect are you from?"
"None."
"Who taught you?"
Mo Yuxin glanced at Su Yubing.
"I learned from experience."
The old man was clearly dissatisfied with that answer.
Su Yubing laughed.
"She is not very good at explaining herself."
The old man nodded slowly.
"I can see that."
Mo Yuxin ended up buying a compact spirit boat.
Su Yubing asked why.
Mo Yuxin said, "Because you like looking at the river."
That answer made Su Yubing quiet.
They carried the boat to a private storage space.
They did not need it yet, but Mo Yuxin was already thinking about future trips.
After leaving Riverbend Town, they changed from walking to traveling by spirit carriage with the caravan.
The road became smoother.
The scenery also changed.
The mountains slowly grew taller.
Patches of spiritual bamboo appeared along the road.
Then came wide stretches of golden grass filled with small spirit flowers.
The air became richer in spiritual energy as they approached the center of the continent.
Even ordinary plants were stronger here.
A simple tree might produce enough spiritual fruit to help a Foundation Establishment cultivator recover quickly.
A small stream might contain water pure enough to refine low-grade pills.
Qin Lian explained that the central region had the densest concentration of spiritual veins on the Southern Continent.
That was why Thousand Dao City had grown there.
It was not merely a city placed at the center of a map.
It was a city built where the continent’s spiritual energy naturally gathered.
The closer they got, the more cultivation sects appeared.
Roadside inns were larger.
Merchant caravans were more numerous.
Even ordinary villagers seemed familiar with cultivators.
Mo Yuxin noticed something else.
The stronger cultivators became, the less they seemed to care about showing off.
A Foundation Establishment cultivator might still wear a glowing sword at his waist.
A Nascent Soul cultivator passing on the road might look like an ordinary traveler.
Su Yubing said, "That seems more sensible."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Strong people rarely need to prove that they are strong."
Su Yubing looked at her.
"Then why do you keep terrifying everyone?"
Mo Yuxin thought about it.
"They usually start it."
"Fair."
Three days later, the caravan entered a wide valley called Cloudstep Valley.
