Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)
Chapter 313: Prime city 5.
Mo Yuxin noticed and quietly moved a plate closer to her.
One elder saw the gesture.
He smiled.
"Your relationship seems very good."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Yes."
The elder laughed.
"Straightforward."
Su Yubing smiled.
"She’s always like that."
The conversation moved toward the upcoming city festival.
The Tang Sword Sect would be hosting a large public gathering in several days.
There would be sword demonstrations, auctions, alchemy competitions, formation exhibitions and a large open market.
Mo Yuxin immediately became interested.
Su Yubing noticed.
"You want to go."
"Yes."
"Why?"
"There will be food."
Su Yubing laughed.
"I knew it."
One of the elders suddenly sighed.
"Unfortunately, the festival is not completely peaceful this year."
Mo Yuxin looked at him.
"What happened?"
"Someone has been stealing from our weapon vaults."
The atmosphere changed.
The elder continued.
"Nothing valuable at first. Low-grade spirit swords, formation materials, some old manuals. We assumed it was simple theft. Then three days ago, one of our internal disciples disappeared."
Su Yubing frowned.
"Any clues?"
"Not yet."
Another elder said, "The strange thing is that there are no signs of forced entry. Whoever entered the vault knew the formations."
Mo Yuxin listened quietly.
She could already sense the flaw in the statement.
"Maybe the thief was given access."
The elders looked at her.
One nodded.
"That’s exactly what we suspect."
Mo Yuxin continued eating.
She was not particularly interested.
Su Yubing understood her immediately.
"We aren’t getting involved."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"No."
Then Tang Rui entered the room in a hurry.
"Father."
The elders looked toward him.
Tang Rui’s face was pale.
"Another sword has been stolen."
The room fell silent.
"Which one?"
Tang Rui swallowed.
"The White River Sword."
Several elders stood immediately.
One of them looked genuinely shocked.
"That sword is inside the ancestral vault."
Tang Rui nodded.
"The vault is sealed."
Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.
Su Yubing gave her a look.
"Don’t."
Mo Yuxin lifted both hands.
"I didn’t say anything."
The elders rushed out.
Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing stayed where they were.
The little girl ate a piece of cake.
A few minutes later, a sword alarm sounded across the city.
Thousands of cultivators looked toward the Tang Sword Mountain.
A bright white streak crossed the sky.
The White River Sword had not simply been stolen.
It had been activated.
The sword’s aura spread across the city.
Every sword cultivator felt it.
Mo Yuxin stood up.
Su Yubing did too.
"Now that’s interesting."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
The White River Sword flew toward the center of the city.
No one could control it.
The Tang elders tried to stop it.
It cut through their sword formations.
Several barriers collapsed.
The sword was moving toward the public plaza.
Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.
"I’ll stop it."
Su Yubing nodded.
Mo Yuxin disappeared.
The next instant, she appeared directly in the sword’s path.
She raised one finger.
The White River Sword stopped.
Completely.
The entire city seemed to hold its breath.
The sword trembled.
Mo Yuxin held it between two fingers.
"You’re making too much noise."
The sword slowly lowered.
She brought it back to the Tang elders.
The old sect elder stared at her.
"You stopped it with one finger."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Yes."
"How?"
"It wasn’t difficult."
Su Yubing arrived beside her.
She smiled.
"You see why I keep telling her not to show off?"
The elder looked at Su Yubing.
"If this is not showing off, what is?"
Su Yubing thought about it.
"Probably less than this."
Mo Yuxin smiled.
The elder looked between them and finally laughed.
"I understand now."
"Understand what?" Mo Yuxin asked.
"Why you two look so relaxed all the time."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"That’s useful."
The stolen sword turned out not to have been stolen at all.
A young disciple had removed it from the vault because he believed the sword was responding to a hidden treasure beneath the city.
He had been tricked by an information broker who told him that the Tang Sword Sect had hidden an ancient inheritance below the public plaza.
The disciple had activated the sword to locate it.
Instead, the sword became unstable and escaped.
The information broker was found that night.
He was not some ancient enemy.
He was simply a greedy cultivator who wanted to sell information about the sect’s private vaults.
The missing materials were recovered.
The missing disciple was found hiding in an abandoned warehouse.
The entire incident ended in a single day.
Mo Yuxin found this amusing.
Su Yubing found it even more amusing because the story had begun with everyone expecting another world-ending mystery.
Instead, it was a stupid young disciple and a dishonest information broker.
The next morning, the Tang Sword Sect elder personally came to their inn.
He bowed.
"Thank you for yesterday."
Mo Yuxin shook her head.
"It was nothing."
The elder smiled.
"You two truly are wandering cultivators?"
"Yes."
"No sect?"
"No."
"No family?"
Su Yubing answered this time.
"We have each other."
The elder looked at them for a moment.
Then he smiled.
"Fair enough."
He offered them a temporary guest token for the Tang Sword Sect.
Mo Yuxin accepted it.
"Thank you."
"You are welcome in Prime City."
After he left, Su Yubing looked at the token.
"We are becoming strangely respectable."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"I don’t like it."
"Why?"
"People will start expecting things from us."
Su Yubing laughed.
"Then we’ll disappoint them."
Mo Yuxin leaned over and kissed her forehead.
"Good plan."
Over the next week, Prime City became their home for a while.
They walked through every major district.
They visited the sword market.
They watched Tang Sword Sect disciples train.
They tried local food.
They bought spirit fruits.
They spent an entire afternoon in a tea house because Su Yubing liked the view.
Mo Yuxin sat beside her the entire time.
At one point, Su Yubing rested her head against Mo Yuxin’s shoulder and asked, "Do you ever get tired of following me?"
