Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)

Chapter 312: Prime city 4.

  • Next Chapter

Far in the distance, a giant city wall stretched across the horizon.

It was impossible to see the end.

At the center, rising above the city, was a massive black mountain.

A single enormous sword stood embedded in its peak.

Zhao Wen stopped walking.

"That’s the Tang Sword Mountain."

Mo Yuxin looked at it.

The sword was enormous.

Even from this distance, she could feel the terrifying sharpness contained within it.

But she also noticed something else.

The sword’s aura was old.

Very old.

Yet it was stable.

It did not leak power.

It did not threaten the surrounding people.

It simply existed.

Su Yubing quietly said, "Interesting."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Very."

Zhao Wen continued explaining.

"The sword on the mountain is called the Southern Heaven Sword. Nobody knows exactly who left it there. The Tang Sword Sect has guarded it for generations. Only their strongest sword cultivators are allowed to approach it."

Mo Yuxin stared at the mountain.

"Can anyone enter?"

"Not the mountain itself. The city is open to everyone, but Tang Sword Mountain is sect territory."

Su Yubing nodded.

"Reasonable."

The group reached the city gates near sunset.

The gates were massive.

Dozens of Tang Sword Sect disciples stood outside checking entry tokens.

Unlike the chaotic gates of other cities, the line here moved quickly.

Every cultivator was treated equally.

A merchant entered.

Then a wandering cultivator.

Then a sect disciple.

Then a group of wealthy-looking young cultivators.

No one was allowed to skip the queue.

Mo Yuxin liked this more than she expected.

When their turn came, a young Tang Sword Sect disciple looked at them.

"Names and reason for entering."

Su Yubing answered calmly.

"Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing. We are traveling cultivators here to see the city."

The disciple wrote their names down.

Then he looked at their cultivation.

"Nascent Soul?"

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Yes."

The disciple immediately became respectful.

"Welcome to Prime City. Please remember the city rules."

"Of course."

They entered.

Prime City was enormous.

The noise hit them first.

Merchants shouted from stalls.

Spirit beasts roared.

Sword cultivators discussed techniques.

Alchemists advertised pills.

Restaurants released wonderful smells.

Formation masters displayed small defensive formations.

Young disciples from different sects walked through the streets.

The entire city felt alive.

It was far more impressive than Bluewave City or Skyfall City had ever been.

And unlike those places, nobody here seemed interested in ancient secrets.

They were simply living.

Mo Yuxin looked pleased.

Su Yubing smiled.

"This is more like it."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Yes."

They found an inn in the inner market.

The room was unexpectedly luxurious.

It had a small balcony overlooking the city.

Su Yubing walked toward the balcony.

Mo Yuxin followed immediately.

"You are following me again."

"Yes."

"You are really clingy now."

"I told you."

Su Yubing turned around and hugged her.

Mo Yuxin immediately hugged her back.

The little girl watched from the bed.

She sighed dramatically.

"Again."

Su Yubing laughed.

"You will get used to it."

The little girl nodded.

"I think I already have."

That night, they ate at one of the city’s famous restaurants.

The food was excellent.

Mo Yuxin ordered almost everything on the menu.

Su Yubing stared at the table.

"You ordered too much."

"We have to try everything."

"There are forty dishes."

"Then we’ll stay longer."

Su Yubing shook her head, smiling.

The restaurant gradually became crowded.

At the next table sat several young cultivators wearing the robes of the Jade Lotus Palace.

One of them kept glancing toward Su Yubing.

Mo Yuxin noticed.

She moved her chair closer.

Su Yubing noticed what she was doing.

"Jealous?"

"No."

"You’re practically sitting in my lap."

"There are too many people."

"There is plenty of room."

"I know."

Su Yubing smiled.

She deliberately leaned into Mo Yuxin’s shoulder.

The young female cultivator finally looked away.

Mo Yuxin seemed satisfied.

"Better?" Su Yubing whispered.

"Much."

"You are ridiculous."

"I know."

The next day, they explored the city.

They visited the largest market.

Mo Yuxin bought a new cloak for Su Yubing because she liked the fabric.

Su Yubing bought a simple black robe for Mo Yuxin because she thought it made her look even more handsome.

Mo Yuxin changed immediately.

When she walked back out of the changing room, Su Yubing stared.

Mo Yuxin raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

"Nothing."

"You are staring."

"Because you look good."

Mo Yuxin smiled.

"Do I?"

"Very."

Mo Yuxin stepped closer.

"Then buy it."

Su Yubing sighed.

"You already decided that I am buying it."

"Yes."

They bought it.

Afterward, they visited the public cultivation plaza.

A large competition was underway.

Several young cultivators were fighting on a raised platform.

The crowd cheered.

Mo Yuxin watched for a while.

"They are too slow."

Su Yubing smiled.

"You can’t compare everyone to yourself."

"I know."

"Then be nice."

"I am being nice."

"You said they were too slow."

"I could have said worse."

Su Yubing laughed.

As they were leaving, a loud voice called from behind.

"Wait."

A young man in golden robes approached them.

He was accompanied by several guards.

His cultivation was at late Core Formation.

He looked at Mo Yuxin.

"Are you the Nascent Soul cultivator who arrived from outside the city yesterday?"

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Yes."

"My family is hosting a private gathering tonight. We would like to invite both of you."

Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.

Su Yubing shrugged.

"Why not."

The young man smiled.

"Excellent. My name is Tang Rui. My father is an elder of the Tang Sword Sect."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

She had expected something like this sooner or later.

Prime City was controlled by the Tang Sword Sect.

Meeting sect families was unavoidable.

That evening, they arrived at the Tang family residence.

The banquet was elegant.

Several Nascent Soul cultivators were present.

There were also a few Soul Formation experts.

Mo Yuxin noticed them immediately.

They were strong by ordinary standards.

But not strong enough to concern her.

Su Yubing was more interested in the food.
