Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)
Chapter 311: Prime city 3.
After a while, she said, "You two are always holding hands."
Mo Yuxin replied, "We are married."
"I know."
"Then you should understand."
The child nodded as if this made perfect sense.
"When I grow up, I want someone who buys me fruit."
Su Yubing laughed.
"That’s your requirement?"
"And someone who holds my hand."
Mo Yuxin looked satisfied.
"Good requirements."
Su Yubing glanced at her.
"Don’t encourage her."
"Why not?"
"She’ll grow up spoiled."
Mo Yuxin looked at the bag of fruit.
"She’s already spoiled."
The little girl grinned.
Their peaceful journey lasted until the fifth day.
They reached a narrow valley where a group of cultivators had gathered around a broken spirit carriage.
Several horses lay unconscious.
A young man in a blue robe was arguing with a group of rugged cultivators.
"You cannot simply block the road and demand payment."
One of the rugged men laughed.
"This road passes through our territory. Everyone pays."
Mo Yuxin glanced at Su Yubing.
Su Yubing looked at the blocked road.
"Should we go around?"
Mo Yuxin looked at the mountain walls.
"It will add two hours."
Su Yubing sighed.
"Then let’s solve it."
Mo Yuxin walked forward.
The rugged cultivator looked toward her.
"You there. What do you want?"
Mo Yuxin pointed at the road.
"Move."
The man laughed.
"And if we don’t?"
Mo Yuxin sighed.
Then she released the smallest possible trace of spiritual pressure.
The entire group froze.
The laughter stopped.
Several men collapsed to their knees.
The leader stared at Mo Yuxin with pale face.
She was clearly trying not to hurt them.
That was obvious.
Yet the pressure was still enough to make the air feel heavy.
"Move," she repeated.
The leader immediately moved.
"Yes, senior."
The road cleared.
The young man in blue looked stunned.
He walked toward Mo Yuxin.
"Thank you, senior."
Mo Yuxin waved her hand.
"Don’t mention it."
He looked at Su Yubing and then at the little girl.
"Are you heading toward the Prime City?"
Su Yubing nodded.
"Yes."
"Then perhaps we should travel together. My group is also going there."
Mo Yuxin started to refuse.
The young man quickly added, "There is a festival in the outer city next week. The Prime City becomes extremely crowded. If you don’t know the area, traveling with a group might be easier."
Mo Yuxin considered it.
Su Yubing lightly squeezed her hand.
"We can travel together for a while."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Fine."
The group introduced themselves.
The young man was named Zhao Wen.
He came from a minor sect in the southern mountain region. His companions were two senior disciples and three merchants.
They were not particularly strong.
None was above Core Formation.
Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing quietly adjusted their own aura to appear around the Nascent Soul stage.
Zhao Wen was visibly relieved.
He had thought they might be much stronger.
The group continued.
That evening, they camped near a river.
The merchants prepared dinner.
Mo Yuxin sat beside Su Yubing on a flat stone.
Su Yubing was holding a bowl of soup.
Mo Yuxin leaned against her shoulder.
One of Zhao Wen’s senior disciples kept staring at them.
Eventually he asked, "Senior Mo, are you and Senior Su really married?"
Mo Yuxin looked at him.
"Yes."
"How long?"
"A long time."
Su Yubing smiled.
"She doesn’t like giving precise answers."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"It isn’t important."
The disciple glanced at their joined hands.
"You seem very close."
Mo Yuxin looked down at Su Yubing.
"We are."
The answer was so straightforward that the disciple became embarrassed.
Su Yubing hid a smile behind her bowl.
Later that night, when everyone else had fallen asleep, Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing sat by the river.
Moonlight covered the water.
Su Yubing rested against Mo Yuxin.
"Do you really think the old mysteries are finished?"
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Yes."
"You’re sure?"
"The formations were old. Their records were exaggerated. Their guardian spirit was malfunctioning. The future versions were projections. The giant eye was a defense array. The child is a guardian descendant. That’s all."
Su Yubing smiled.
"You sound very certain."
"Because I checked."
"When?"
"While you were talking to the old woman."
Su Yubing raised an eyebrow.
"You examined the entire formation network?"
"Yes."
"And there really isn’t anything else?"
Mo Yuxin shook her head.
"Nothing that matters."
Su Yubing was quiet for a while.
Then she smiled.
"Good."
"Why?"
"Because I would rather visit the Prime City than spend another week listening to someone call us ancestors."
Mo Yuxin smiled.
"Same."
Su Yubing reached up and touched her face.
"Do you know what I like most about you?"
"Everything."
Su Yubing laughed.
"You answer your own questions."
"It saves time."
"You are very shameless."
"Only with you."
Su Yubing leaned closer.
Mo Yuxin wrapped her arms around her.
For a while, there was only the sound of the river.
Then Su Yubing whispered, "Stay like this a little longer."
"Of course."
She did.
The next morning, something did happen.
But it was not ancient.
It was not mysterious.
It was simply a group of demon beasts crossing the road.
A herd of armored rhinoceros charged through the valley.
The caravan panicked.
Zhao Wen shouted for everyone to move.
Mo Yuxin stepped forward.
She raised one hand.
The entire herd stopped.
The biggest rhinoceros looked at her.
Mo Yuxin looked back.
Neither moved.
Finally, Mo Yuxin pointed toward the opposite mountain.
"Go that way."
The demon beasts turned around.
Then they walked away.
The entire caravan remained silent.
Zhao Wen stared.
Su Yubing covered her mouth.
The little girl clapped.
"Sister Mo talked to them."
"Yes."
"Can you talk to me like that?"
"I hope not."
Su Yubing laughed.
The group continued their journey.
After another three days, they reached the outer territory of the Prime City.
The first thing they noticed was the sword light.
Thousands of sword cultivators traveled across the sky.
The surrounding mountains had been carved into enormous terraces where training grounds had been built.
