She released him.

"Leave."

He immediately left.

His followers followed him.

Su Yubing watched them disappear.

"You didn’t even lecture him."

"He looked tired."

"That wasn’t what I meant."

"I know."

They continued walking.

By sunset, they saw a huge city on the horizon.

Skyfall City.

Even from far away, it looked enormous.

Its walls reached into the clouds.

Floating palaces surrounded its upper districts.

Thousands of flying ships entered and left through enormous gates.

Cultivation towers stretched into the sky.

Markets covered entire mountain ranges.

The city truly was one of the largest cultivation centers in the Southern Continent.

Su Yubing stared.

"It’s beautiful."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"It is."

They stopped at the top of a hill.

The sun was setting behind the city.

For a moment, everything seemed peaceful.

Then Mo Yuxin felt something.

A gaze.

She turned.

Nothing.

Su Yubing noticed.

"What?"

Mo Yuxin looked back at the city.

"Someone is watching us."

"From where?"

"Inside the city."

Su Yubing frowned.

"Can you find them?"

Mo Yuxin closed her eyes.

Her spiritual sense spread outward.

It reached the city.

Then stopped.

Something blocked it.

Not a formation.

Not a barrier.

A familiar force.

The same force that had been beneath Homeward City.

Mo Yuxin opened her eyes.

"We should be careful."

Su Yubing smiled.

"You only say that when something is really interesting."

"Yes."

"Then let’s go."

They walked toward the city.

At the gate, thousands of cultivators were waiting.

The guards checked every traveler.

A large sign above the gate displayed the rules.

No fighting.

No flying inside the outer district.

No unauthorized sect conflicts.

No demonic techniques.

No theft.

Su Yubing read the list.

"Very civilized."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

They joined the line.

When they reached the front, the guard looked at them.

"Names?"

"Mo Yuxin."

"Su Yubing."

The guard wrote down their names.

Then froze.

His brush fell from his hand.

He looked up slowly.

"Senior... could you repeat that?"

Mo Yuxin repeated her name.

The guard’s face went pale.

He looked toward the inner city.

Then at Su Yubing.

"Please wait here."

"Why?"

"I need to notify the city lord."

Mo Yuxin frowned.

"We just arrived."

"I understand."

The guard was sweating.

"But your names are on the forbidden list."

Su Yubing raised an eyebrow.

"Forbidden?"

The guard nodded.

"Both of you."

Mo Yuxin was silent.

Then she laughed.

"This is becoming ridiculous."

Su Yubing also laughed.

"Apparently we’re wanted in the city we haven’t even entered."

The guards became even more nervous.

A bell rang from inside the city.

Then another.

The massive city gates began closing.

Thousands of travelers looked up in confusion.

Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing stood quietly at the front of the gate.

A black-robed figure appeared above the walls.

He was an old man with a golden crown and an expression filled with shock.

He looked at Mo Yuxin.

Then Su Yubing.

His body trembled.

"It’s really them."

Mo Yuxin looked up.

"Who are you?"

The old man’s lips moved.

"I am the current Lord of Skyfall City."

He paused.

Then he said the words that made every cultivator at the gate go silent.

"And according to the oldest law of this city, the moment you two arrive, every formation in Skyfall City is to be activated."

Mo Yuxin glanced at Su Yubing.

"Sounds inconvenient."

Su Yubing smiled.

"Very."

The city lord raised one hand.

Thousands of formations activated.

The sky turned gold.

The earth shook.

The enormous gates glowed.

Every cultivator in the city felt the pressure.

Then a voice echoed from every tower.

"THE RETURNED HAVE ARRIVED."

Another voice followed.

"BEGIN THE LAST CEREMONY."

Mo Yuxin’s expression finally became serious.

"Yubing."

Su Yubing stepped closer.

"I’m here."

Mo Yuxin took her hand.

Across the city, the black tower began to rise.

Not a tower.

A giant sword.

It had been hidden beneath the city all along.

The ground split open.

The sword slowly emerged.

Its blade pointed directly at the sky.

Above it, the clouds parted.

A gigantic eye appeared.

The entire city fell silent.

Mo Yuxin stared at the eye.

She recognized it.

It was the same eye she had seen beyond the seventh gate.

Su Yubing squeezed her hand.

"So that’s what found us."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Yes."

The eye opened completely.

A voice descended from the heavens.

"Mo Yuxin."

Then another voice.

"Su Yubing."

The sky cracked.

The city lord fell to one knee.

Every formation in Skyfall City activated at once.

Mo Yuxin stepped forward.

Spiritual pressure erupted from her body for the first time since they had entered the city.

The entire mountain beneath her feet trembled.

Su Yubing stepped beside her.

Her aura rose as well.

The people around them were thrown backward by the pressure.

Two Nascent Soul cultivators standing together were already terrifying.

But for one brief instant, the hidden power beneath that Nascent Soul cultivation became visible.

The sky itself seemed to hesitate.

Mo Yuxin’s hair moved in the wind.

She looked up at the enormous eye.

"You wanted us here."

The eye remained silent.

Mo Yuxin smiled.

"Fine."

She squeezed Su Yubing’s hand.

"But if you touch her, I’ll destroy this entire place."

Su Yubing looked at her.

"You really are clingy."

Mo Yuxin glanced at her.

"Yes."

Su Yubing smiled.

"I know."

The enormous eye slowly narrowed.

Then the voice spoke.

"You still remember each other."

Mo Yuxin’s expression changed.

"What do you mean?"

The eye opened wider.

"Then the seal has failed."

The sky shattered.

A wave of darkness descended.

Mo Yuxin immediately pulled Su Yubing into her arms.

A barrier formed around them.

The darkness struck.

The entire city disappeared beneath the black wave.

People screamed.

Buildings vanished.

Mountains cracked.

The giant sword beneath the city shattered.

Mo Yuxin’s barrier remained intact.

Su Yubing was pressed safely against her chest.

Mo Yuxin looked down.

"Are you okay?"

Su Yubing nodded.

"I’m fine."

"Good."

Mo Yuxin looked back at the darkness.

Her expression was calm.

Almost too calm.
