Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)
Chapter 304: Starfall ruins 2.
"Absolutely."
"The entrance is somewhere near the pass."
Mo Yuxin’s chopsticks paused.
Su Yubing noticed.
"Interesting?"
"Potentially."
She listened.
Apparently, an ancient ruin had appeared in the mountains.
The entrance was protected by a mysterious formation.
Three days earlier, a group from a major sect had entered.
None had returned.
Rumors spread that they had found a legendary inheritance.
Others claimed the ruins were connected to a fallen immortal.
Some said the entire thing was fake.
Su Yubing smiled.
"We’re going."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Of course."
They finished lunch and headed toward the pass.
The Starfall ruins were indeed real.
The entrance was hidden inside a mountain valley.
Hundreds of cultivators had gathered.
A giant stone gate stood between two cliffs.
Ancient writing covered its surface.
Nobody could understand it.
Mo Yuxin could.
She read it once.
"Only those who have forgotten their beginning may enter."
Su Yubing looked at her.
"That sounds annoying."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Very."
A sect elder stepped forward.
"Everyone, the ruins are extremely dangerous. We will enter in groups. No fighting is allowed inside."
Naturally, someone immediately attacked another cultivator.
Mo Yuxin sighed.
"Took less than a minute."
Su Yubing laughed.
The chaos spread.
The sect elders struggled to control everyone.
Then the stone gate opened.
A giant wave of spiritual energy came from inside.
Hundreds of cultivators surged forward.
Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing walked in together.
The world changed.
They found themselves inside a massive underground city.
Buildings floated upside down.
Rivers flowed through the sky.
Stars moved beneath their feet.
A giant moon hung in the distance.
Su Yubing stared.
"This is beautiful."
Mo Yuxin looked at her.
"Yes."
"You’re not looking at the ruins."
"I am."
"No, you’re looking at me."
"You’re more beautiful."
Su Yubing’s face warmed.
"You’re getting shameless."
Mo Yuxin smiled.
"Only around you."
They continued through the ruins.
The first trial was a sword formation.
Thirty-six stone swords attacked anyone who entered.
Several cultivators were injured.
Mo Yuxin walked through.
The swords stopped moving.
They bowed toward her.
The disciples behind her stared.
Su Yubing walked through next.
The swords bowed again.
She laughed.
"They recognize good taste."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Definitely."
The second trial was an illusion.
Cultivators were separated from their companions and forced to confront their deepest fears.
Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing were not separated.
The illusion tried.
It simply failed.
The two remained standing together in the same field.
A voice asked, "What is your greatest fear?"
Mo Yuxin replied, "Losing her."
Su Yubing replied, "The same."
The illusion shattered.
The third trial was a battlefield.
Thousands of phantom enemies appeared.
Mo Yuxin stretched.
"This is getting repetitive."
Su Yubing agreed.
"Let’s hurry."
They walked through.
Every phantom disappeared before reaching them.
The entire battlefield vanished in under a minute.
At the end of the ruins, they found the inheritance hall.
A stone tablet stood there.
On it was another message.
THE TRUE INHERITANCE IS NOT HERE.
Su Yubing stared.
"Then why make us go through all this?"
Mo Yuxin looked behind the tablet.
There was a small door.
She opened it.
Inside was a single jade box.
She picked it up.
The box immediately opened.
Inside was a broken piece of black crystal.
The crystal pulsed.
Mo Yuxin’s expression changed.
Su Yubing immediately stepped closer.
"What?"
"The same aura."
"From Homeward City?"
"Yes."
A voice came from the crystal.
"If you have reached this place, then Homeward City has already awakened."
Su Yubing looked at Mo Yuxin.
The voice continued.
"Do not go to Skyfall City."
Silence.
Then the voice said something even worse.
"Skyfall City is not the city you think it is."
The crystal shattered.
At the same moment, the entire ruin began collapsing.
Cultivators screamed.
The ground cracked.
Buildings fell from the sky.
A giant wave of spatial energy swept through the ruins.
Mo Yuxin grabbed Su Yubing’s waist.
"Hold on."
Su Yubing wrapped her arms around Mo Yuxin.
"I’m holding on."
Mo Yuxin stepped forward.
Space opened beneath their feet.
They disappeared.
When they reappeared, they were standing outside the ruins.
The mountain behind them collapsed.
Hundreds of cultivators stumbled out.
The sect elders stared at the ruined valley.
Nobody understood what had happened.
Mo Yuxin looked toward the distant horizon.
Skyfall City was somewhere beyond the mountains.
Su Yubing walked beside her.
"We just got told not to go there."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Yes."
"Are we going?"
Mo Yuxin looked at her.
Su Yubing smiled.
"You already know the answer."
Mo Yuxin smiled too.
"Of course we’re going."
They continued toward the Nine Star Pass.
But the atmosphere had changed.
The road was no longer simply a road toward a city.
Something was waiting for them.
They spent the next three days traveling quietly.
The land became more populated.
Large towns appeared every few hundred kilometers.
The number of powerful cultivators increased.
Eventually, they began encountering Soul Formation cultivators.
Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing remained completely unconcerned.
One evening, they camped on top of a mountain.
The moon was bright.
Su Yubing was lying on Mo Yuxin’s lap.
Mo Yuxin was slowly brushing her hair.
"Do you regret coming to the Southern Continent?"
Su Yubing closed her eyes.
"No."
"Even with everything that happened?"
"Especially because of everything that happened."
She opened her eyes.
"If we hadn’t come, we would never have found that city."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"True."
Su Yubing reached up and touched her face.
"Besides, we are together."
Mo Yuxin leaned down and kissed her forehead.
"That’s enough for me too."
The next morning, they encountered a traveling merchant.
He warned them about a group of cultivators robbing travelers near the mountain road.
Mo Yuxin thanked him.
Two hours later, those cultivators appeared.
They were a large group.
Their leader was a late Nascent Soul cultivator.
He looked arrogant.
He demanded their storage rings.
Mo Yuxin looked at him.
"No."
The man frowned.
"What?"
"No."
He attacked.
Mo Yuxin caught his fist.
The man froze.
