Su Yubing was very bad at cooking.

This had been established many years ago.

Su Yubing tried to help anyway.

She accidentally burned the seasoning.

Mo Yuxin calmly took it from her.

"Sit down."

"I can help."

"You can help by eating."

"That’s not helping."

"It is. You look happy when you eat."

Su Yubing smiled.

"You are getting better at sweet talking."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"I’ve had a good teacher."

"Who?"

"You."

Su Yubing leaned closer.

"Then give me a kiss."

Mo Yuxin looked around.

There was no one nearby.

She kissed her.

It was brief and soft.

When they separated, Su Yubing smiled.

"Much better."

Mo Yuxin returned to cooking.

"Greedy."

"You’re the clingy one."

"I am not."

"You held my hand for three days straight."

"That is practical."

"Why?"

"Because I like holding it."

Su Yubing laughed.

They ate dinner beside the river.

The stars came out.

For a while, the strange city, the ancient records and the mysterious woman beneath the world all felt far away.

Su Yubing rested her head on Mo Yuxin’s shoulder.

"This is nice."

Mo Yuxin looked at her.

"Yes."

"Even with all the trouble?"

"As long as you are here."

Su Yubing closed her eyes.

"Then I’m staying forever."

Mo Yuxin kissed the top of her head.

"Good."

The next morning, they continued.

By noon, they reached the first large wilderness region.

The Thousand Beast Plains.

It was exactly as dramatic as the name suggested.

Countless spirit beasts lived there.

Most were at the Foundation Establishment or Core Formation stage.

A few were stronger.

The road cut straight through the plains.

Normally, cultivators avoided this area.

Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing walked through the center.

A group of young cultivators traveling in the same direction saw them.

One young man called out.

"Fellow cultivators! Wait!"

Mo Yuxin stopped.

The group consisted of seven people.

Five men and two women.

All were Foundation Establishment cultivators.

The leader was a young woman carrying a sword.

She bowed.

"We are disciples of the Cloud River Sect. The beast tide ahead is dangerous. You should travel with us."

Su Yubing smiled.

"Thank you."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

They joined the group.

The young disciples were friendly.

They talked about the surrounding sects, the cities ahead and the recent changes in the wilderness.

Apparently, beast activity had become strange over the past few months.

Spiritual beasts were leaving their usual territory.

Some had even attacked cultivation cities.

The Cloud River disciples believed a powerful beast king had awakened.

Mo Yuxin listened silently.

She didn’t believe that.

The beasts were not acting like animals under the influence of a beast king.

They were moving toward something.

All of them.

The same direction.

When night fell, the group made camp.

One of the younger boys told stories about a famous wandering swordsman.

Another talked about a hidden cave he had discovered.

The whole evening felt like a typical cultivation journey.

Then the ground shook.

The young disciples immediately drew their weapons.

A roar came from the darkness.

Thousands of spirit beasts rushed toward them.

The Cloud River disciples panicked.

Their formation activated.

Sword lights filled the air.

The first wave of beasts struck.

The formation shook.

The leader shouted, "Everyone stay inside!"

Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.

Su Yubing looked back.

Neither woman moved.

A giant wolf jumped toward them.

Mo Yuxin casually flicked her finger.

The wolf flew backward.

Another beast came from the left.

Su Yubing lifted her hand.

A thin ribbon of spiritual energy wrapped around it and gently moved it away.

The Cloud River disciples stared.

The battle continued for several minutes.

The two powerful women did not even draw their weapons.

Every attack that came near them simply failed.

Eventually, the beast tide retreated.

The young disciples stood there covered in sweat.

The leader looked at Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing.

"Senior... are you really Nascent Soul?"

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Yes."

The young woman stared.

"How many years have you cultivated?"

Mo Yuxin thought about it.

"Enough."

Su Yubing laughed.

The young disciples did not understand the answer.

But they understood that asking further was probably dangerous.

The next morning, they continued together.

Several hours later, the group found an injured merchant caravan.

The merchants had been attacked by bandits.

The caravan leader begged for help.

The Cloud River disciples immediately agreed.

Mo Yuxin did not mind.

They followed the caravan toward a nearby town.

Halfway there, bandits appeared.

There were nearly fifty of them.

The leader was a Gold Core cultivator.

He shouted for everyone to surrender.

Mo Yuxin sighed.

"Again?"

Su Yubing smiled.

"Generic side plot."

"Very generic."

The bandit leader attacked.

Mo Yuxin raised one hand.

He stopped in midair.

She looked at him.

"Go away."

He nodded immediately.

"Yes, Senior."

All fifty bandits turned around and ran.

The Cloud River disciples stood there in silence.

One young man whispered, "Senior didn’t even hit him."

Su Yubing smiled.

"She didn’t need to."

Mo Yuxin reached for Su Yubing’s hand.

"Let’s go."

They continued.

A few days later, the scenery changed.

Mountains rose ahead.

At their center was a gigantic pass called the Nine Star Pass.

It was the main route toward Skyfall City.

Thousands of cultivators were gathered outside.

A large city had formed around the pass.

The roads were full of merchants, wandering cultivators, sect disciples and treasure hunters.

Mo Yuxin looked at it.

"Now this is a city."

Su Yubing smiled.

"You’re already looking for food."

"There is a restaurant."

"Of course you saw the restaurant first."

They entered.

The restaurant was enormous.

A three-story building with private rooms and a large open hall.

They took a table near the window.

Mo Yuxin ordered enough food for six people.

The waiter looked at her strangely.

Su Yubing quietly whispered, "You cannot finish all of that."

Mo Yuxin replied, "You will help."

"So this was your plan?"

"Yes."

They ate.

Across the room, several young cultivators were discussing an important treasure hunt.

"The Starfall ruins have opened!"

"Are you sure?"
