Su Yubing stared at it.

"This is getting more dramatic than I expected."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Very dramatic."

"Do you have anything useful to say?"

"I think the handwriting is ugly."

Su Yubing laughed.

Even Luo Tianhe looked stunned.

"Ancestors..."

Mo Yuxin calmly looked at him.

"Please don’t call us that."

"But..."

"Call us Senior Mo and Senior Su."

Luo Tianhe hesitated.

"Very well."

Su Yubing looked at the jade scroll again.

"What happened to the city?"

The old man’s expression darkened.

"That is why you need to know why we called you."

He waved his hand.

The room changed.

A projection appeared above the table.

It showed Homeward City from above.

But the city looked different.

There were fewer districts.

The black tower was much smaller.

The central mountain was covered in white temples.

And beyond the city walls there was an enormous desert.

Luo Tianhe pointed to the city.

"Every thousand years, the city loses something."

"What?"

"Its memory."

Mo Yuxin’s expression changed.

"The city forgets."

"Yes."

"And now?"

"Now it has forgotten almost everything."

Su Yubing frowned.

"Then why do you remember us?"

Luo Tianhe’s hand tightened around the cup.

"Because I was appointed to remember you."

Mo Yuxin looked at him carefully.

There was an old seal inside his soul.

It was subtle.

Very subtle.

But she could see it.

She glanced at Su Yubing.

Su Yubing had already noticed.

Their eyes met.

No words were needed.

Mo Yuxin quietly extended one finger.

The old man’s soul seal trembled.

He immediately winced.

"Senior, please."

Mo Yuxin stopped.

"How painful is it?"

"Very."

"Why didn’t you tell us?"

"Because the seal would kill me if I did."

The room fell silent.

Su Yubing looked at the old man for a long moment.

Then she sighed.

"You really are unlucky."

Luo Tianhe gave a weak smile.

"That is one way to describe it."

Mo Yuxin reached across the table and placed two fingers against his wrist.

A faint spiritual energy entered his body.

The soul seal shattered instantly.

Luo Tianhe froze.

He stared at her.

His eyes widened.

"Senior..."

"Done."

"How?"

"It was ugly."

"..."

Su Yubing smiled.

"She means the seal."

"Yes. The seal."

Luo Tianhe looked like he wanted to laugh.

But he didn’t dare.

For the first time in hundreds of years, the old man was free.

He looked down at his hands.

Then tears slowly appeared in his eyes.

"Thank you."

Mo Yuxin waved her hand.

"Don’t cry. It’s annoying."

Su Yubing gently elbowed her.

"Be nicer."

Mo Yuxin immediately changed expression.

"It was a very impressive seal."

Su Yubing started laughing.

Luo Tianhe also laughed through his tears.

For the first time since they had entered the city, the atmosphere became less strange.

Then the black tower rang a bell.

Everyone stopped laughing.

The sound was deep.

One note.

A second note.

A third.

Luo Tianhe’s face went pale.

"That is impossible."

Mo Yuxin looked outside.

"What?"

"The tower only rings when the outer barrier is breaking."

"How long?"

Luo Tianhe looked at her.

"Three hours. Maybe less."

Su Yubing stood.

"And what happens after that?"

The city lord looked toward the black tower.

"Everything outside comes inside."

Mo Yuxin stood as well.

"What is outside?"

Luo Tianhe did not answer.

He simply looked terrified.

That was answer enough.

The city erupted into chaos.

Across the streets, bells began ringing.

Formation lights spread through every district.

Sect leaders flew into the air.

City guards rushed toward the walls.

Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing walked out of the courtyard.

The sky above Homeward City had turned gray.

Clouds gathered unnaturally fast.

The outer wall shook.

Su Yubing looked up.

"We came here to go to Skyfall City."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Yes."

"And now we have another world-ending problem."

"Apparently."

Su Yubing sighed.

"Your travel luck is terrible."

Mo Yuxin immediately turned toward her.

"Our travel luck."

"Fine."

Su Yubing smiled and hooked her arm around Mo Yuxin’s.

"Our travel luck."

Mo Yuxin seemed satisfied.

"Good."

They walked toward the central tower.

Around them, cultivators were rushing in every direction.

Some recognized them.

Some did not.

A young disciple sprinted past them carrying six talismans and almost crashed into a wall because he was looking backward.

Mo Yuxin caught him by the collar.

"Watch the road."

The disciple froze.

"Senior!"

Mo Yuxin set him down.

"Where are you going?"

"The western wall. The formation there is failing."

"How strong is it?"

"I don’t know."

Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.

"Let’s go west first."

Su Yubing nodded.

They changed direction.

The western wall was already surrounded by hundreds of cultivators.

A crack had appeared in the sky above it.

Not the wall.

The sky itself.

A thin black line hung in the air.

Inside the line, something moved.

The city guards looked terrified.

A young commander shouted orders.

"Keep the barrier active! Don’t let anyone get close!"

A Core Formation cultivator yelled, "It’s getting bigger!"

The commander gritted his teeth.

"I can see that!"

Then something pushed through the crack.

A claw.

Huge.

Covered in black scales.

The cultivators around the wall immediately attacked.

Fireballs.

Sword qi.

Lightning talismans.

A dozen formation cannons.

Everything struck the claw.

The result was disappointing.

The claw did not even slow down.

Mo Yuxin looked at it.

"Too weak."

Su Yubing nodded.

"Very."

They stepped forward.

The commander immediately shouted, "Senior, don’t approach!"

Mo Yuxin ignored him.

She raised one hand.

The black claw stopped.

Not because of an attack.

Because space around it froze.

The entire western wall became silent.

Mo Yuxin casually closed her hand.

The claw vanished.

The crack disappeared.

The clouds parted.

Everything became quiet.

The commander stared.

Everyone stared.

Mo Yuxin dusted off her sleeve.

"There."

Su Yubing nodded.

"Very efficient."

A cultivator nearby whispered, "Nascent Soul?"

Another whispered, "No way."

Mo Yuxin heard them.

She turned her head.

"Yes. Nascent Soul."

The two cultivators immediately became pale.

"Senior..."

Mo Yuxin smiled politely.

"Don’t worry."
