Su Yubing turned around.

She put her arms around Mo Yuxin’s neck.

For a while, neither said anything.

The next morning, they left early.

On the fourth day, their journey became more interesting.

The road toward Skyfall City entered a vast region called the Thousand Mile Wilds.

Unlike the ordinary forests near Bluewave City, the Thousand Mile Wilds contained several high-level demonic beast territories.

Cultivators usually traveled in groups here.

Some hired escorts.

Some used flying ships.

Some avoided the region altogether.

"We are walking and frightening every beast in the forest."

"That is their problem."

Su Yubing shook her head.

They continued.

On the fifth day, they reached a mountain pass.

A giant stone gate stood between two cliffs.

Words were carved into the gate.

ONLY THOSE WHO CAN PASS THE TRIAL MAY ENTER THE INNER VALLEY.

Mo Yuxin read it.

Su Yubing read it.

Then they walked around the gate.

Su Yubing looked back.

"That is allowed?"

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"It did not say we had to use the gate."

They walked along the side of the mountain.

The ancient formation beneath the ground immediately activated.

Dozens of spiritual swords appeared in the sky.

Su Yubing glanced upward.

"Now it wants to fight."

Mo Yuxin raised one finger.

Every sword shattered.

The formation went silent.

They kept walking.

A voice came from the gate.

"Wait!"

Mo Yuxin stopped.

A transparent old man appeared above the stone gate.

He looked exhausted.

"You cannot simply break my formation."

Mo Yuxin said, "I did not know it was yours."

"Of course it is mine."

"Then repair it."

The old man’s face twitched.

Su Yubing turned away to hide her smile.

The old man stared at them.

"You are two strange people."

"Thank you."

"That was not a compliment."

"I know."

The old man sighed.

"Where are you going?"

"Skyfall City."

His expression changed.

"Why?"

"To travel."

The old man stared at them for several breaths.

"There is a major sect competition happening in Skyfall City soon."

"That sounds crowded."

"It will be."

"Then we will avoid it."

The old man frowned.

"You should be careful."

Mo Yuxin nodded politely.

"Thank you."

They walked away.

The old man watched them disappear.

After a while, he muttered to himself.

"I hope they do not enter the city while that thing is awake."

Unfortunately, they were absolutely going to enter the city.

And they were going to arrive at exactly the wrong time.

On the sixth day, they reached the edge of the Thousand Mile Wilds.

Beyond the forest was a massive plain.

A long road crossed the plain toward Skyfall City.

There were caravans everywhere.

People selling talismans by the roadside.

And one old man selling a treasure that he claimed could suppress a Tribulation Transcendence cultivator.

Mo Yuxin stopped.

Su Yubing looked at the treasure.

It was a cracked teapot.

"Do you think it works?" Su Yubing asked.

Mo Yuxin shook her head.

"No."

The old man heard her.

"Young lady, this is an ancient treasure."

"The bottom says Made in East River Town."

The old man’s face went blank.

Su Yubing burst out laughing.

They left him behind.

The main road became busier as they approached Skyfall City.

Along the way, they encountered a caravan under attack.

This time, the attackers were not human.

A group of Crimson Sand Wolves surrounded the caravan.

There were at least thirty of them.

Their leader was a fourth-stage demonic beast.

The caravan’s guards were struggling.

Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing were walking past when one of the merchants shouted.

"Senior, please help us!"

Mo Yuxin stopped.

Su Yubing sighed.

"Again?"

"Apparently."

"You know they will probably give us trouble afterward."

"Probably."

"Then why are you stopping?"

Mo Yuxin looked at her.

"Because you want to help them."

Su Yubing blinked.

"I did not say that."

"You looked at the children in the caravan."

Su Yubing smiled.

"You really notice everything."

"Especially you."

She stepped forward.

One of the wolves lunged.

Mo Yuxin flicked her finger.

The wolf stopped.

Every other wolf stopped.

Then the entire pack turned around and ran.

The caravan became silent.

One man dropped his sword.

Another man stared at Mo Yuxin in shock.

The merchant who had called for help rushed toward them.

"Senior, thank you!"

Mo Yuxin shook her head.

"No need."

"Please accept these spirit stones."

"No."

"These pills?"

"No."

"This storage ring?"

"No."

"Then perhaps a map to Skyfall City?"

Mo Yuxin stopped.

Su Yubing laughed.

"That one she will accept."

The merchant gave them a map immediately.

They continued walking.

The merchant watched them go.

His assistant whispered, "Why do I feel like they are pretending to be ordinary?"
