Marvel: Reincarnated as Superman
Chapter 87: Limit Broken
Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Limit Broken
Daniel slowly flew out from the Sun’s core, and as he traveled through the blazing sea of plasma, he familiarized himself with his newly evolved body. He wasn’t wearing a single stitch of clothing.
At first, it felt a little awkward. But after flying for a while, that feeling gradually disappeared, instead, he felt incredibly light and refreshed. Without clothes restricting him, his whole body felt free.
’No wonder some people like to sleep naked.’
’This really does feel amazing.’
Daniel immediately made up his mind. He should try streaking through space more often, after all, it was the vacuum of outer space, and no one would see him. So, he could completely let go of himself.
’Isn’t everyone talking about embracing your true nature these days?’
Feeling wonderfully unburdened, Daniel narrowed his eyes in satisfaction.
"Still..."
"What a shame about my suit. I’d barely worn it a few times before it was scrapped."
The thought made his heart ache. This was the first time he’d ever destroyed a Vibranium suit and it genuinely hurt.
His previous suits, even after he’d outgrown them, were all carefully stored away in his wardrobe. They were all worth money, also Daniel considered himself a responsible man who knew how to manage things.
"Seriously, Carol’s so petty."
"She couldn’t beat me, so she got her revenge this way."
"That stunt cost me tens of millions of dollars."
That suit hadn’t been cheap, never mind the manufacturing costs.
"No way."
"Carol has to compensate me."
Then another thought occurred to him.
’...Actually, she’s broke.’
’She can’t afford it.’
After thinking it over, a brilliant idea suddenly popped into his head.
"Once we’re done dealing with the Kree Empire..."
"I’ll take Carol to Wakanda."
Daniel’s eyes lit up mischievously. King T’Chaka already knew Carol would be leaving Earth for six years. After six years apart, surely the old king would give her a generous welcome gift when they met again.
And while they were there, he could casually complain about how poor he’d become. Daniel happily calculated the possibilities.
’Maybe I’ll get my suit replaced...’
’...and if I’m lucky, I might even score an extra suit.’
For his next set of suits, he wanted exactly the same design, but in silver. Lately, he had become completely obsessed with suits.
’Once I put that on...’
’That’ll be an entirely different style.’
He sighed dramatically.
’Being this good is really troublesome.’
After dwelling on clothes for a while, Daniel finally turned his attention to his own body. Looking down at his noticeably larger muscles, he slowly clenched his fist.
"My strength’s gone up again."
There wasn’t really anything nearby to compare against. As far as Earth was concerned, there wasn’t a single known object he couldn’t lift effortlessly, even an ocean liner weighing tens of thousands of tons, he could raise it with one hand without feeling the slightest bit of weight.
’I wonder...’
’Could I pull an entire planet now?’
The thought crossed his mind.
’Better not try it in the solar system.’
Moving even one planet could trigger unimaginable consequences.
’Once I leave the solar system someday...’
’I’ll give it a try.’
The balance between celestial bodies was incredibly delicate. One careless mistake might have catastrophic consequences for Earth.
And Earth was his home, his base and he wasn’t about to destroy it through an experiment.
’Much better to mess with someone else’s star system.’
For example...
’The Kree Empire has plenty of planets.’
’I could always drag one of their resource worlds around.’
’There aren’t many people living on those, so I wouldn’t accidentally cause too much bloodshed.’
After all, he couldn’t spend every day simply lying in the Sun, exercise was important too.
’Dragging planets around every now and then sounds pretty healthy.’
Since his strength wasn’t easy to measure at the moment, Daniel decided to test his speed instead. With his eyesight, he could actually watch light traveling through space. That had always been his preferred method of measuring his own speed.
Spotting a beam of sunlight racing through the Solar System, Daniel launched himself at full speed. He deliberately flew in the direction opposite Earth.
After all, he was still completely naked. There were people on Earth capable of seeing him.
For example, the Ancient One. That old woman had some mysterious spell that let her observe distant places and now there was Carol too.
Daniel still had a sense of shame, he wasn’t an exhibitionist. His current situation was simply unavoidable, as his clothes had been destroyed.
’Still, not wearing clothes really is comfortable.’
While racing against light itself, Daniel couldn’t help thinking that. This time was completely different, as before, he could only barely fail to catch up to light no matter how hard he tried.
Now, the instant he accelerated, he realized he’d already left the beam behind.
"I’m finally faster than light."
Daniel couldn’t help sighing in relief, as the past few weeks had been torture. He’d always been just one tiny step away, so close that he could almost touch it, yet no matter what he did, he couldn’t cross that final threshold.
It had been unbelievably frustrating. Like constantly getting stuck right outside the door, unable to move forward and unable to go back, it was a miserable experience.
After stopping, Daniel finally gave up racing light and moved on to testing his other abilities.
He looked toward Earth. Previously, even with his incredible vision, it had appeared slightly blurred from this distance. Now, he could clearly make out individual ants crawling across the ground and the Earth was over a hundred million miles away from the Sun.
"My eyesight improved..."
"So my hearing probably did too."
It seemed his senses hadn’t merely become stronger, they’d evolved. In the past, he couldn’t hear sounds from Earth while floating in space, and now, with only a passing thought, he heard Susan complaining about him leaving without saying goodbye.
Every one of his abilities had improved dramatically. This wasn’t just one enhancement, it was a complete upgrade across the board. It almost felt like leveling up.
An instinct deep within his body quietly informed him what had happened, he had grown. He’d advanced from childhood... into adulthood and there hadn’t even been an adolescence.
Apparently, he was enough of a freak that he’d skipped that stage entirely.
"Hehe..."
"So I’m not a kid anymore."
"I guess I can finally do things adults are supposed to do."
A rather suspicious grin spread across Daniel’s face. He was clearly thinking about something indecent again. Quickly shaking those thoughts from his mind, Daniel began testing his newest ability.
A solar flare.
With a casual wave of his hand, he hurled one into the distance.
Boom!
The asteroid field ahead instantly disintegrated into drifting dust.
"Nice."
Daniel nodded with satisfaction. Another ranged attack and honestly, it looked far cooler than simply firing beams from his eyes.
’From now on...’
’I don’t care who shows up.’
’One solar flare in each hand and I’ll smash them to death.’
The destructive power rivaled an extreme version of nuclear weapons, perhaps it was even stronger.
"I guess I’m a nuclear weapons specialist now."
Daniel chuckled to himself.
"From now on, I won’t even need to rush in and punch people."
"I’ll throw a solar flare first."
"If they’re still alive... then I’ll use my fists."
He created several more solar flares in succession before finally stopping, breathing a little heavier. This ability consumed a little more energy right now, maybe it was due to his inexperience and age.
So, it was much better suited for wiping out groups, enemy fleets, or perhaps... an entire planet.
"I still need to spend more time in the Sun."
Daniel thought as he caught his breath.
’A man has to have endurance.’
The last thing he wanted was to throw out six or seven attacks before running out of energy. That would completely ruin the image he was trying to build.
After testing every one of his abilities, Daniel finally decided it was time to return to Earth. Before heading back, he first checked where Carol was, and after making sure to avoid her entirely, he quietly slipped back to his home on Long Island.
Susan had just been about to head outside when she suddenly saw Daniel sneaking into the house... completely naked. She jumped in surprise.
"Why aren’t you wearing any clothes?"
"They’re gone."
Daniel answered matter of factly. Then he immediately struck several bodybuilding poses right in front of her.
"So?"
"What do you think, babe?"
"Don’t I look stronger now?"
Aside from taking the very last step in their relationship, the two had long since become completely comfortable with each other. Daniel didn’t feel embarrassed in the slightest.
They were practically an old married couple already, so looking wasn’t going to hurt anyone.
Susan looked him up and down. His entire body had grown noticeably larger. Her gaze lingered for a brief moment on one particular area before she raised an eyebrow.
"What did you do?"
"Take steroids?"
"How did you change this much?"
Daniel grinned proudly.
"Hehe."
"Ever heard of the Sun-brand steroids?"
Susan rolled her eyes at him, equal parts amused and exasperated.
