Five years had passed since that last encounter on Knowhere.

Over those five years, Daniel spent the vast majority of his time roaming the cosmos with Quill. The small fraction of the time they weren’t together was because Daniel had returned to Earth to visit his family.

Quill was unwilling to return to Earth, as it held nothing but painful memories for him, so Daniel always went back alone.

In those five years, Earth had changed significantly. As the planet entered the 21st century, the internet was booming, and technology advanced with each passing day.

Time marched forward, yet it left absolutely no trace on Daniel.

Five years had gone by, and at twenty-seven years old, he should have been slowly entering his thirties. Yet his appearance remained frozen in his early twenties, as though time itself had stopped for him.

Life on Earth, however, continued to move on.

Susan eventually learned that Daniel had been the one secretly funding her research all along. Furious that he had kept it from her, she gave him the cold shoulder for quite some time. The two only reconciled after Daniel returned to Earth, and before long, they had made up in the most intimate way possible.

Not long afterward, Susan left her university lab and accepted an invitation to join a new research team headed by the brilliant scientist Reed Richards. Since the project required long hours and frequent travel, Johnny often stopped by to help out with various tasks while spending time with his sister.

With his outgoing personality and willingness to lend a hand wherever he was needed, he gradually became a familiar face around the lab and eventually became part of the team himself.

Meanwhile, Daniel was still frequently away from Earth, as his journeys often took him to distant corners of the universe. However, no matter how far he traveled, he always made sure to return home whenever he could, sometimes coming back a few times each month and other times staying on Earth for several months.

Whenever he was back, he spent time with Susan, and even while he was away, he stayed in close contact with her, keeping up with her life, her thoughts, her feelings, and all the little things she experienced.

As for Tony Stark.

Tony was still the same old Tony. As Stark Industries continued to grow, he spent his days partying with socialites, becoming a constant source of headlines and keeping countless gossip magazines in business.

Because Daniel brought back all kinds of alien technology from the cosmos every year, Stark Industries developed far better than it originally had. If Tony hadn’t been keeping things tightly under wraps, the technology inside his private lab alone could have triggered two more technological revolutions for Earth.

T’Challa had now slowly begun taking over the reins from his father. He was currently confined to Wakanda, learning how to be a proper king.

His parents, John and Mary, were actually growing younger and younger. Because Daniel had secretly fed them the Celestial spinal marrow fluid from Knowhere, the elderly couple was currently living a highly comfortable and happy life.

Everything was going wonderfully. Aside from the minor issue with Susan, Daniel’s home front was rock solid.

The only exception was Carol. She was simply too much to handle. Even though Daniel was adventuring out in the cosmos, he still remembered his home on Earth.

But Carol? Aside from rushing back in a massive hurry once every year for Christmas, she spent the rest of her time entirely occupied with maintaining cosmic peace.

Five years ago, Daniel thought this was perfectly fine. After all, finding a meaningful purpose in life was beneficial for one’s physical and mental health.

Yet three years ago, Carol had actually tried to arrest him.

The whole incident happened while he was training by casually moving a planet around. Unfortunately, he ended up throwing an entire solar system’s gravitational balance off and accidentally causing trouble for the intelligent life living there.

The aliens were an odd-looking bunch, yet somehow, they caught wind of the situation and actually went straight to Carol to complain.

Carol tracked Daniel down. She didn’t use violence but instead started reasoning with him. Who knows where she had learned it, but she spoke in continuous, high-minded theories, lecturing him for three days and three nights straight.

The sea of stars.

If there were no traces of living organisms, it would forever remain incredibly quiet and immutable throughout eternity.

In an uncharted star system within the southern sector of the Milky Way galaxy, a massive explosion disturbed the tranquility of this cosmic void.

Quill stood in the main command deck, watching the spectacle of warships exploding one after another outside, the brilliant firelight tinting his face crimson.

"So beautiful." Quill murmured softly.

Even though he had witnessed this thousands of times, he never grew tired of the sight. Watching an enemy’s spaceship blow up brought immense satisfaction, especially when it belonged to people hunting you.

Daniel walked into the bridge.

"How is it? Looks good, doesn’t it?" he asked the now fully grown Quill with a smile.

The group Daniel had just wiped out was an obscure mercenary group. Having somehow caught wind of Daniel and Quill’s coordinates, they had enthusiastically rushed over in hopes of capturing the duo to claim a hefty bounty.

Daniel and Quill were exceptionally valuable right now, especially Quill.

Daniel’s bounty was only around two hundred and fifty million credits. It seemed like a lot, but compared to Quill, it was practically pocket change.

Quill’s bounty had already reached two billion credits, making him one of the galaxy’s most wanted criminals.

The main reason was that the two of them had committed their crimes together. However, many factions were too afraid to go after Daniel, so they took out all their anger on Quill instead. After all, he was the one who chose to associate with Daniel.

Over the past five years, there was no telling how many outrages the duo had pulled off. Regardless, the two of them simply acted entirely on impulse, doing whatever crossed their minds without giving a single thought to the consequences.

They pulled off one audacious stunt after another. At the start, they were hunted by half the universe, but after Daniel stepped up and obliterated over a dozen allied fleets in a single battle, they never encountered a large-scale siege again. Only sporadic, clueless mercenaries would occasionally show up to cause trouble for them.

Daniel ended up regretting it. He had lost one of his favorite pastimes, and he couldn’t help but think he should’ve taken it easy instead of completely clearing out the competition in one go. Now, nobody was brave enough to come after them anymore.

Right now, the two of them were immensely famous, or rather, infamous, throughout the cosmos. Especially Star-Lord, Peter Quill. He was a truly legendary figure, with countless individuals itching to take his life.

This made Quill afraid to stray too far from Daniel. Everyone knew Quill wasn’t especially powerful on his own; the only reason he stayed safe was because he was always by Daniel’s side.

No one dared give Daniel a moniker, and in fact, in the entire universe, very few even dared to speak his name.

Because no one dared mention it.
