Chapter 134: Chapter 134: Leaving Knowhere

After taking a lap around the exterior of Knowhere, they remained outside until the distant starlight faded and Knowhere entered its night cycle. Daniel and Tivan finally returned to the same dining room where they had eaten before.

Dinner was, once again, the Vorga beast.

"By the way, I’ll be leaving tomorrow," Daniel said casually halfway through the meal.

"Do you really have to leave so soon? Why not stay a few more days? I haven’t even had the chance to show you proper hospitality," Tivan said, sounding utterly sincere. Inwardly, though, he was barely holding back a laugh.

’Leave quickly, just leave quickly. This is fantastic.’

After spending the entire day with Daniel, Tivan’s face was stiff from forcing smiles. It was mentally exhausting, and he also had to keep a close eye on Daniel’s expressions, afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing. If this maniac decided to throw a fit and swat him dead, it’d be one hell of a waste.

"No. I need to go search for my people," Daniel replied indifferently.

"Is there anything I can do for you before you go?" Tivan asked cautiously.

"I need money."

Tivan could swear he saw the faintest trace of a smirk flash across Daniel’s face when he said those words. But when he looked closer, Daniel’s expression was completely blank.

"No problem at all. Since you’ve asked, I will provide you with an account shortly. It will have one hundred million credits inside."

Tivan acted very generous. When it came to money, it was an easy matter to resolve; the one thing he lacked least was wealth.

After millions of years, wealth had become meaningless to him. Money was nothing more than numbers on a page, and he couldn’t even remember how many zeros were in his accounts.

He had more money than he could ever spend.

"That’s great," Daniel clapped Tivan on the shoulder. "You are very sensible and very smart. I love dealing with people like you."

Daniel smiled, a slightly sly grin spreading across his face.

Hearing that he was getting a hundred million credits made Daniel feel as refreshed as drinking a glass of ice-cold coke on a scorching summer day. The sheer bliss resonated through his entire body.

’Tivan really is a decent guy. His attitude is absolutely top-notch, and he even provides sponsorships. He’s practically a saint.’

Daniel lamented inwardly. Now that he was getting paid, he found Tivan exceptionally pleasing to the eye.

If Tivan chose to brag about his own greatness at this exact moment, Daniel absolutely wouldn’t get angry. In fact, Tivan didn’t look half bad right now, he carried the innate charm of wealth.

...

The next day.

"Are you sure you don’t want a spaceship? It’s a lot more convenient. It saves you from having to travel long distances on your own," Tivan said.

"No need. Besides, I have no use for one. I’m faster than any spaceship on my own."

How could Daniel possibly accept Tivan’s spaceship?

He didn’t even know how to pilot one. Besides, although his own ship was a bit old and outdated, it was still his very first spaceship.

Daniel had only acquired it a few months ago, so the novelty hadn’t worn off yet, and he was still pretty attached to it.

However, he was telling the absolute truth. The last time he stood outside his ship to experience how it jumped through wormholes, Daniel had already mastered the ability to perform spatial jumps with his raw physical body.

Right now, his personal speed was indeed significantly faster than a spaceship. If he had possessed this ability before Carol’s accident, he would have flown out of Earth to look for her a long time ago.

Having notified Quill in advance, Daniel instructed him to wait outside Knowhere with the ship.

Amidst Tivan’s bright, radiant smiles, Daniel flew out of Knowhere.

Watching Daniel’s receding figure fade into the distance, Tivan let out a long, heavy sigh. "Whew... he’s finally gone."

Just as he was about to head back inside, one of his subordinates suddenly came running over in a frantic rush.

"My Lord, My Lord." The subordinate dashed up to Tivan, completely out of breath.

"You’d better have a damn good reason for this, or you’ll be sent to the mines," Tivan said coldly. He never bothered pretending to be polite when dealing with his subordinates.

"My Lord, we managed to uncover that man’s data."

"Whose data?" Tivan asked.

"The man who just flew away."

"Show me, quickly." Tivan urged.

As the subordinate transferred the information to Tivan, he spoke up, "My Lord, you’ve been tricked.

That man isn’t a Kryptonian at all. Our surveillance showed that the moment he left Knowhere, he boarded a spaceship. And the very seller who sold him to you was on that ship with him.

The two of them are partners in crime. Now should we deploy our forces to capture them and bring them back?" the subordinate asked eagerly.

Tivan didn’t say a word, his eyes fixed on the transmitted information.

Daniel Danvers.

Wanted by the Kree Empire a few days ago, with a bounty of one hundred million credits.

Reason: Unknown.

Origin: Unknown.

There was only a name and a bounty. Everything else about Daniel was completely blank. Anyone with even a little common sense could tell something was seriously wrong.

Tivan then scrolled to the next file.

Peter Quill.

A subordinate of the Ravager Yondu Udonta.

Quill’s information was much more detailed. Tivan studied it for a long time before raising his head again, his cold gaze locking onto his subordinate.

"What did you just say?"

"My Lord, should we send our men to drag those two fraudsters back?" the subordinate asked tentatively.

"Of course. No one has ever dared to deceive me before. I’ll leave this matter in your hands." Tivan suddenly smiled, his voice warm and gentle as he spoke to his subordinate.

"Yes, My Lord. I will go immediately, and you have my word the mission will be accomplished."

The subordinate was overjoyed. He felt as though he was finally about to be highly valued and promoted by Tivan.

He turned around with a smug grin, taking large strides toward the exit. In his mind, he was already fantasizing about his impending promotion, his raise, and the glorious future where he could feast on meat for every single meal.

Bang!

A sudden gunshot rang out, and a gaping hole appeared right through his chest. The subordinate turned around with great difficulty, staring fixedly at Tivan. "Why...?"

"Idiot," Tivan spat out a single word, then walked right past him.

"Clean up the mess inside," he commanded the guards stationed at the door as he stepped out.

On his way back to his chambers, Tivan thought to himself:

’Even if Daniel is a fraud, so what? What could I possibly do to a person like that? Could I beat him in a fight?

It’s far better to pretend I know nothing, otherwise, I’ll just end up looking like an idiot.’

After walking a bit further, Tivan turned to his attendant and said, "Go place a bounty on someone for me. Peter Quill, and set the reward at ten million credits."

"Yes, My Lord." The attendant accepted the order without hesitation. She didn’t dare ask any questions. In a place like this, people who were too curious rarely lived long.

’I may not be able to handle Daniel, but did you really think I couldn’t handle you? You really thought you could team up with him and scam me?

Fine, just wait to be hunted. I’ll make sure there’s nowhere in the galaxy you can hide.’

Tivan harbored no resentment toward Daniel whatsoever, but he felt an absolute hatred toward Quill, so he placed the entirety of the blame squarely on Quill’s shoulders.

......

The airlock opened, and Daniel stepped inside the spaceship.

"You’re back? How did it go?" Quill asked the moment he set eyes on Daniel.

"Tivan is a pretty good guy. He gifted me one hundred million credits. He’s a wonderful person."

"One hundred million?" Quill repeated, completely stunned.

Yondu had spent decades making his way through the galaxy, yet even he probably couldn’t scrape together a tenth of that amount. Meanwhile, Daniel had casually secured one hundred and fifty million credits in just two days.

"Yeah."

Looking at Quill’s stunned expression, Daniel gave a casual, nonchalant nod.

He was incredibly ecstatic inside as well, but at a time like this, maintaining a calm, composed demeanor was essential to keeping up his cool persona.

Quill remained dazed for a moment. Then, his eyes suddenly lit up, and he asked Daniel with an expectant grin.

"Since you’ve already got a hundred million, then that fifty million on my end..."

"In your dreams. You think I’m just going to let you take my money?"

The moment he heard Quill’s words, Daniel lost his composure entirely. His expression darkened, and Quill instantly realized he had pushed his luck.

"Hey, I helped too!" Quill protested. "I deserve some credit."

"If I handed it over, would you really accept it?" Daniel asked with a faint smile.

"Obviously, I wou..." Quill started, before catching sight of Daniel’s eyes beginning to glow.

"Actually, no, absolutely not. I would never dream of taking your money."

"Mm-hmm." Daniel nodded in satisfaction, then turned and spoke to Ultron.

"Ultron, get us out of here. It’s time to go wild somewhere else."

"Understood, Mr. Danvers."
