Marvel: Reincarnated as Superman
Chapter 130: Priceless Treasure (bonus)
Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Priceless Treasure (bonus)
Daniel shot Quill an irritated look.
This was entirely this guy’s fault. If he hadn’t brought up that kind of android, they wouldn’t have come here in the first place. And if they hadn’t come here, Daniel wouldn’t have dismantled Annie out of pure curiosity.
Now look at the mess they were in.
From now on, there would be a massive stain on his legendary story. When people passed down tales of his grand deeds, they would definitely add a line like:
"Did you know? That Daniel Danvers, the most powerful guy in the entire universe, also did it with an android. Yes, that exact legendary man, he even broke that android."
Daniel could already picture the scene perfectly.
But he had truly done absolutely nothing. Though he had felt a brief moment of temptation, he ultimately couldn’t bring himself to go through with it.
His psychological tolerance wasn’t as robust as that of the aliens, who could sleep with androids without a second thought.
"What do you suggest we do?" Daniel stared at Quill with a thoroughly unfriendly expression.
"What do you mean, what do we do?" Quill asked, looking back at him.
Daniel pointed at the scattered fragments of Annie on the floor. "I can’t put her back together."
"How about we each pay for our own? After all, we’ve only known each other for less than a week..." Quill suggested tentatively. But catching the look on Daniel’s face, his voice grew smaller and smaller until it completely died out.
Daniel let out a cold snort.
"My eyes have been feeling a bit dry lately." A pair of intense energy beams suddenly shot out from Daniel’s eyes, boring a clean hole straight through the floorboard right beneath Quill’s feet.
"I’m sorry. My eyes were a bit dry, and I lost control for a second," Daniel remarked coolly after seeing Quill jump in absolute fright.
"Then what do you want to do? I don’t have any money either." Quill said helplessly. He then added, "How about we slip away right now before they realize what happened?"
Daniel stared at Quill for a long moment before speaking up. "You’re such a bad influence. I’ve only known you for a few days, and somehow, you’ve already turned me into this. I’m a good person, I swear."
Quill thought Daniel was rejecting the idea, but to his surprise, Daniel continued, "But your idea isn’t half bad. Just this once."
Hearing this, Quill couldn’t help but complain wildly in his head. What kind of person is this guy? He’s practically... Still, he didn’t dare say a word out loud; the hole in the floor was still radiating visible heat waves.
"I have a plan," Quill spoke up. "We call Timo over, and then we hold him hostage to force our way out of here. How about it? Isn’t it absolutely perfect?" Quill placed his hands on his hips, thoroughly proud of his magnificent scheme.
"Not at all," Daniel rejected immediately.
If they did that, wouldn’t another paragraph be added to his legendary tale? Not only did he go looking for an android, but he also refused to pay. That would completely ruin his image.
Daniel casually hoisted Quill up into the air.
"What are you doing?" Quill shrieked in terror.
"Shut up. Why are you yelling so loud? Do you want to get the whole place over here or something?" Daniel delivered a swift smack to the back of Quill’s head. "We’re flying out through the window."
With that said, Daniel carried Quill and soared straight out of the window frame, flying all the way back to their spaceship.
"Whew, that was exhilarating."
Daniel remarked the moment they stepped inside the spaceship. "You are strictly forbidden from inciting me to commit crimes next time." Daniel warned Quill.
Quill scoffed inwardly. Who was the one looking completely thrilled out of their mind back there?
After resting for a short while, Daniel suddenly spoke up. "This won’t work."
"What won’t work?" Quill was left completely bewildered by Daniel’s sudden statement.
"Money. We can’t survive without money." Daniel explained.
He was starting to deeply regret not securing some funds while they were back on Hala, which had ultimately forced him to dine and dash like a common thief. It was incredibly humiliating.
Back on Earth, he was a multi-billionaire. The company he co-owned with Tony was a massive cash cow, bringing in millions of dollars every single day.
For years, Daniel had never once had to worry about finances. His cards simply couldn’t be maxed out no matter how hard he tried.
Because money had come far too easily, he had completely lost his sensitivity toward it. It was only now, after arriving in the vast expanse of the cosmos, that he realized he was completely penniless.
This simply did not align with his grand status. As a powerful and rich guy, how could he possibly have no money?
"Then what can we even do?" Quill spread his hands.
"Unless we break the law, there’s no way we can secure a significant amount of cash in a short period of time. It’s not like you can just sell yourself."
"Sell myself?" Hearing those words, a bold and daring idea suddenly popped into Daniel’s mind. He gleefully slapped Quill on the shoulder. "Brilliant idea."
Daniel remembered that there was a figure named the Collector residing right here in Knowhere. The man loved gathering all sorts of bizarre things, and he was filthy rich.
"What are you planning?" Quill looked at Daniel in sheer horror. "Are you going to sell me?" He took several frantic steps back to distance himself from Daniel, resting his hand against the spaceship’s airlock door, fully prepared to bolt at a moment’s notice.
"You?" Daniel cast a look of complete disdain at Quill. "You aren’t worth a dime. No one would buy you."
"Then who are we selling?" Relieved, Quill let go of the door and walked back over.
Daniel pointed a finger straight at himself.
"You?"
"Yeah," Daniel nodded.
...
"Do you understand exactly what you need to say?" Daniel asked Quill.
"Got it." Quill replied.
"OK, let’s go find our buyer."
As soon as Daniel finished speaking, he closed his eyes and lay down flat inside a long, rectangular capsule box, a heavy collar securely fastened around his neck. He was faking unconsciousness.
Their plan was to sell Daniel to Tivan, the Collector. Once Quill had secured the money, Daniel would "wake up" and cause a huge scene inside Tivan’s establishment. If everything went according to plan, they might even walk away with twice the money.
"I’m going under now. I won’t wake up for another full day, also you know exactly what I’m capable of, so if I wake up and you’re nowhere to be found, you know what’s coming," Daniel said with a threating tone.
"Haha," Quill let out an incredibly strained chuckle. "How could that possibly happen."
"I certainly hope so." Daniel gave Quill one final, profound look before sinking into a deep state of slumber.
Quill pushed Daniel’s capsule box into a small hovering vehicle and left their main spaceship.
Upon arriving at the Collector’s grand estate, Quill waited for several hours. It was only after he repeatedly emphasized that he had brought a profoundly rare and precious specimen that the Collector finally agreed to grant him an audience.
"If I find out you’re lying to me, you’re a dead man." Tivan, the Collector, warned Quill coldly as they walked toward the hovering vehicle together.
"Rest assured, I guarantee it is exceptionally rare." Quill promised with absolute confidence.
Once they reached the vehicle, Quill pushed Daniel’s capsule out. The moment Tivan cast his eyes upon Daniel, his gaze became completely locked, utterly unable to look away.
"This... he is a literal treasure." Tivan couldn’t resist leaning in close to Daniel’s ’coffin,’ running his hands over it as he spoke in absolute awe.
"I can sense an absolutely infinite reservoir of raw power coursing within his physical frame. I have never encountered such a magnificent, powerful organism before.
What specific race does he belong to? I have lived for countless millennia, yet I have never once beheld a creature like this." Tivan remarked, completely entranced.
"No idea," Quill replied casually.
"I happened to pick him up on some remote, backwater planet. My scanners indicated that the energy levels inside his body were exceptionally powerful.
I also searched through every database available and couldn’t find a single shred of information on his species. But knowing your fondness for collecting rare and exotic treasures, I brought him straight to you..."
"Fifty million." Before Quill could even attempt to throw out a price, Tivan blurted out an offer.
"How much?" Quill was completely stunned by the figure.
"Fifty million credits. You have brought me an absolutely unique, one of a kind addition to my collection. I am profoundly pleased, so flat rate, fifty million."
"He’s actually worth fifty million?" Quill asked in sheer disbelief.
"He is worth every single credit." Tivan stated firmly, his eyes remaining fixed entirely on Daniel’s face.
"Then how much do you think I am worth?" Quill couldn’t help but ask.
"You?" Tivan shot a brief, passing glance at Quill.
"You aren’t worth anything."
Tivan hadn’t taken the time to thoroughly inspect Quill. With all of his absolute attention locked entirely onto Daniel, he completely failed to notice that the lineage running through Quill’s veins was actually rather extraordinary.
"What is your account number? I shall transfer the funds to you immediately." Tivan couldn’t wait to conclude the transaction right then and there, eager to move Daniel into his private gallery to admire him properly.
"XXXXXXXXX," Quill quickly recited an account number.
Tivan turned to the alien maid standing beside him. "Transfer it to him."
Before long, a notification chime echoed as Quill successfully received the massive transfer.
"Excellent, the transaction is officially complete." Tivan remarked, a brilliant smile breaking across his face.
"I simply cannot wait to return inside and properly appreciate him."
He laughed with immense joy.
Quill was laughing with immense joy as well. "Well then, I wish you a very pleasant evening."
With their business concluded, the two parted ways. Quill made a swift return back to their spaceship, while Daniel was carefully wheeled deeper into the estate by Tivan’s maids.
