At this moment, America also recognized Strange.
Although the person in front of her had short hair and wore traditional robes of a mage, which was somewhat different from the ponytail-wearing mage who had saved her in another Universe just now, that face and that expression were absolutely identical.
"It’s you!" America blurted out in surprise, "You were the one who saved me before? You didn’t die?"
Strange turned to look at America, a hint of helpless, bitter smile appropriately appearing on his face.
"The one who died was another me," Strange explained, "That was a variant of me in another Universe. I attached myself to him through a certain spell..."
"It’s so good that you’re alright. Here, you can completely rest assured. Because the person beside you is my teacher, and also the greatest Superhero in this World, Homelander."
"As long as he is here, no evil force will be able to harm you."
Hearing this, America immediately turned her head, looking at Homelander with eyes full of admiration.
This man not only saved her life, but even that powerful mage capable of casting spells across the Universe had to respectfully address him as a teacher.
Just how powerful was he?
Homelander unconsciously raised the corners of his mouth slightly, thoroughly enjoying this feeling of being looked up to by others.
"Keep a low profile, low profile," he gently waved his hand, saying modestly.
"With great power comes great responsibility. I just did what I should do."
He spoke so casually, yet it deepened the favorable impression the few women present held of him by a few more notches.
Strange breathed a silent sigh of relief inwardly; it seemed he had managed to scrape through this hurdle for now.
He then let out a heavy sigh, a thick sense of worry surfacing on his face.
"But..." Strange stopped mid-sentence, looking as if he had more to say, "Wanda, she is still suffering in the multiverse. Every second we delay, she faces another fraction of danger..."
Hearing this, America immediately looked at Homelander with concern.
"That person, your friend, is she very important to you?" America asked cautiously.
Homelander put away his smile, his expression turning solemn.
"Yes," Homelander said slowly, "She is a very important friend of mine. We once fought side by side, and she paid a huge price to protect this World. I will never give up on her."
Of course she was important, she was top-tier quality leeks! Homelander silently added in his heart.
Watching Homelander’s painful expression, America’s heart tightened as well.
This man had descended from the heavens at her most desperate moment, giving her an unprecedented sense of security.
Now, his friend had fallen into danger, and she happened to possess the ability to help.
How could she stand by and watch?
"You saved me, I owe you one."
America clenched her fists, and with a firm gaze, said loudly to Homelander.
"No matter what method it takes, as long as I can help rescue your friend, I am willing to cooperate with all my strength."
Hearing these words, Strange felt a surge of joy in his heart.
Half the matter had already succeeded.
He immediately pressed his advantage while the iron was hot.
"Teacher, it’s too dangerous for this girl to stay here."
Strange’s gaze swept around the apartment, and he spoke with an earnest look.
"Those dimensional monsters from the multiverse will endlessly hunt her down. Skye’s apartment doesn’t have any magic protection; once a high-tier monster forcibly descends, not only this apartment, but the residents of the entire building will face a threat to their lives."
"But the New York Sanctum is different. There are specialized protective arrays there designed to ward off dimensional monsters. As long as she steps through the doors of the Sanctum, the array will shield her energy fluctuations. Even if those monsters search the entire Universe, they will absolutely never be able to lock onto her location. There, she will be absolutely safe."
To make his proposal seem flawless, Strange turned to look at America, switching to a patient and persuasive mentor’s tone.
"Furthermore, running away can never solve problems, girl. You can’t spend your whole life in endless flight. I can teach you, guide you."
"Once you learn to control your power, we can take the initiative to attack, rather than being passively beaten like prey."
"More importantly, we need you to master this power and go into the multiverse to retrieve Homelander’s friend Wanda. That is our common goal."
The living room was very quiet.
Homelander did not interrupt, just quietly listening to his statement.
Seeing that Homelander did not immediately express his stance, a trace of anxiety flashed deep within Strange’s heart, but he quickly masked it.
He considered this rhetoric of his to be foolproof.
10 seconds passed.
Homelander consistently just quietly looked at Strange.
No nod, no shake of the head.
Time at this moment seemed to be infinitely stretched out.
At first Strange was able to maintain his composure, but as the silence continued, his heartbeat began to accelerate uncontrollably.
Homelander’s gaze was not sharp, but in Strange’s view, those eyes seemed capable of piercing through all of his disguises.
"Has he seen through it?"
"Does he know I’m lying to him?"
"No, impossible, I’m just scaring myself."
Various thoughts flashed through Strange’s mind, and cold sweat began to gather on his forehead.
If it were anyone else, Strange would not hesitate to forcefully snatch the person away even if it meant risking severe injury.
But in front of Homelander, he couldn’t even engender the thought of using magic to resist.
The absolute gap in strength made him feel at this moment like he was standing at the edge of a cliff, where the slightest gust of wind could shatter him to pieces.
Just as Strange’s psychological defense line was on the verge of collapsing.
Homelander smiled.
It was a smile as warm as a spring breeze.
"Relax, Stephen," Homelander said in an easygoing tone, "This really sounds like a thorough plan."
Strange felt a great sense of relief, his tense nerves gradually relaxing, and he could only feel that his back was already soaked with cold sweat.
"I was just... too worried about Wanda’s safety."
Homelander did not probe deeply into his excuse, instead casting his gaze toward America.
"America," Homelander said softly, like a patient head of the family, "What do you think?"
Seeing the question directed at her, America was momentarily stunned.
She looked at Strange.
Honestly speaking, in another Universe, this man had once looked at her with a terrifying gaze.
That terrifying instant remained fresh in her memory.
But it was also that same man who, when the monster lunged over, unhesitatingly used his body to block in front of her, taking a fatal blow in her place.
Furthermore, the Strange before her eyes was a student personally acknowledged by Homelander.
And Homelander was such an outstanding, gentle, and... charming gentleman.
America felt that she had no reason whatsoever to doubt someone taught by Homelander.
How could someone taught and trusted by Homelander be a bad person?
"I will listen to you," America nodded and said, "Wherever you say we go, I’ll go."
