Marvel: God of Spotlight, The Homelander

Chapter 590: Chapter 590 Please allow me to explain
It was just that they noticed a slight abnormality.
America always secretly glanced at Homelander from time to time, and in her eyes, besides adoration and gratitude, there seemed to be a hint of a young girl’s unique palpitation.
This look made Skye feel an inexplicable wave of annoyance rising unprovoked in her heart.
What did this little girl’s look mean?
But when Skye turned her head to look at Homelander, that trace of annoyance in her heart instantly vanished into thin air.
There was only one thought left in her mind: Anthony is too handsome, he is simply the most perfect lover.
Not only Skye, but the look in Natasha’s eyes toward Homelander also changed.
As the Red Room’s most outstanding Black Widow, Natasha had undergone extremely rigorous counter-interrogation and emotional detachment training.
Her mind was rock-solid and would never be influenced by a man’s appearance.
Yet now, she found that she couldn’t tear her gaze away.
Was I blind before? How did I not notice that Homelander was handsome to this extent?
"My heart is beating so fast..." Natasha inwardly panicked to herself.
Natasha tried to look away, but found she simply couldn’t suppress the urge to get closer to him.
Noticing the Strange gazes of the two, Homelander maintained a calm facade on the surface, but inwardly thought to himself that it was bad.
He immediately realized that the side effect of the Heartthrob skin was acting up again.
Even though this skin had only been activated for a short while earlier when facing America.
What a sin.
Homelander gave a quiet, subtle cough and quickly changed the subject, breaking the gradually warming ambiguous atmosphere in the air.
"Alright, ladies." Homelander brought America to sit down on the sofa, "Let America tell us her story. She should have a lot to say."
Hearing Homelander’s gentle voice, America nodded submissively like she had received some kind of encouragement.
She took a deep breath and began to recount slowly.
"My name is America Chavez." Her voice was still somewhat trembling, but her articulation was clear, "I come from a World called Utopia. It’s completely different from here."
"That is a place without males, and I was raised together by my two mothers, Amara and Elena. Life there was very peaceful until the year I turned six."
America’s eyes dimmed as painful memories flooded her mind.
"That day, I was playing in the garden. A very small bee flew over, and I’ve been afraid of bugs since I was little. I screamed loudly at that time, and then... everything went out of control."
Her hands involuntarily clenched tightly.
"A multi-layered glowing starlight door suddenly split open before me, and it sucked both of my mothers and me in together. Until now, I have never seen them again."
The living room was extremely quiet, with only America’s slight sobbing.
"Ever since then, I started a life of wandering across various parallel Universe."
America wiped her tears, "My ability is very unstable. Only when I am in extreme fear or fatally frightened will it trigger out of control. I cannot control the direction of the Portal, and I have never been able to find my way home."
"I’m so sorry, child," Skye comforted softly.
"Originally, I was just wandering aimlessly in different Universe." America’s eyes suddenly filled with fear, "But just a short while ago, things changed. Some terrifying monsters started hunting me down. No matter which Universe I escape to, they can always find me. I’ve fled to several World, and they’ve pursued me relentlessly."
"I came here also because I was driven to a desperate situation by a monster, accidentally triggering my ability." She cast a grateful glance at Homelander, "If he hadn’t caught me, I would already be dead."
Skye and Natasha felt an overflow of maternal instinct in their hearts listening to this girl’s tragic encounter.
A six-year-old child, because of an accident, left her mother and wandered alone in the dangerous multiverse for so many years, and now she still had to face the pursuit of monsters. This was simply too cruel.
Moreover, the two of them were also victims whose childhoods were stripped away, and they had a deep resonance with this homeless sense of flight.
Subsequently, the two stepped forward, sitting on either side of America, and gently gathered her into their arms.
Feeling the warmth and kindness of the two women, America finally let down her last remaining guard.
Resting her head in Natasha’s arms, her tears flowed uncontrollably.
But this time, they were tears of releasing stress.
Right at this warm moment, Homelander’s gaze suddenly shifted toward a patch of air in the center of the living room.
The next second.
Golden sparks splattered out of thin air in mid-air.
The sparks rapidly rotated and expanded, outlining a circular magic Portal.
Skye and Natasha immediately stood up alertly, blocking in front of America.
Thud.
A figure stumbled out from the Portal.
That person was wearing the mage robes of Kamar-Taj, and the clothes were covered in dust at the moment.
More eye-catching was that blood was flowing from all seven of his orifices, staining his chin and lapels red, making him look utterly wretched.
It was none other than Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange.
As soon as Strange walked out the door, his legs went soft, and he nearly collapsed to the ground.
Supporting himself on the back of the sofa nearby, he stood firm with difficulty and looked toward Homelander sitting ahead.
Strange pulled an awkward smile that was uglier than crying, and said weakly, "Teacher... your attack just now was truly too ruthless. I almost died on the spot."
"Oh," Homelander said in a flat tone, "So, the one who spied on this place using dark magic just now was you? Strange?"
Just two simple questions caused the temperature of the surrounding air to plummet abruptly.
Strange felt as if he were being crushed by a giant mountain, making even breathing difficult.
He knew far too well the terror of the man in front of him.
That was not only a crushing of strength, but even more, absolute psychological domination.
"Please allow me to explain, Teacher." Strange lowered his head slightly, saying in a sincere tone, "I did use dark magic to find this girl, but I have absolutely no malicious intent."
He pointed at America hiding behind Natasha.
"I am looking for her because she possesses the ability to shuttle through the multiverse."
"Teacher, Wanda’s soul is lost in the multiverse, as you know."
"This girl has the power to travel through the multiverse, and she is our only hope to retrieve Wanda."
Strange looked directly into Homelander’s eyes, trying to make his gaze appear open and untroubled.
"Teacher, you taught me." Strange brought up Homelander’s past words, "Power itself has no inherent good or evil; it depends on the person who uses it. I use dark magic for salvation, not destruction."
Homelander quietly looked at Strange.
His super senses were able to capture the faint changes in Strange’s heartbeat.
He knew this mage did not tell the truth, or at least didn’t tell the whole truth.
Someone tainted by the darkhold could never be so righteous and awe-inspiring.
But Homelander did not expose Strange.
He didn’t care whether the other party was evil or not, only whether they could be of use to him.
