Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune
Chapter 382: Afraid of Nathan Fawcett
That’s why he placed all his hope on Anne Sutton.
After all...
’Anne Sutton is the chairman of the Fawcett Group now. As long as I have her for a daughter, I won’t be short on cash!’
"How ridiculous!" Anne Sutton said. "Where do you get the nerve to say that? What money did you ever give my mom? She was married to you for so many years—splitting the assets evenly was already going easy on you! For a man like you, who secretly fathered two children with his mistress, not forcing you to leave with nothing was a kindness!"
The guests stood to the side, listening to Anne’s words. They instantly understood what kind of people had come to cause trouble.
’So it’s the owner’s ex-husband!’
’That’s bad enough, but he actually brought the mistress’s children here!’
"So shameless!"
"I know, right?"
"His two illegitimate kids are that old, and he still dares to bring them here! How can a man be so shameless? And that woman is just as bad! Acting all high and mighty for a mistress."
Sean Sutton looked at Anne and said in a fawning tone, "Anne, what happened between your mother and me isn’t what you think! You were too young, you don’t understand a lot of things. Don’t let your mother fool you with her sob stories!"
"Then why don’t you tell everyone exactly what happened!" Anne wasn’t afraid to confront him.
’Anyone with half a brain would know whose fault it was if the things Sean Sutton did were laid bare!’
’I can’t believe he has the gall to even show his face here!’
Sean Sutton blurted out, "Your mother was the one who wronged me first."
’Men are all the same. When they’re clearly in the wrong, they can only point fingers at the other person!’
"Oh? And how did my mother wrong you? By staying home every day to raise your two daughters, giving up her own job and career, and waiting on you hand and foot like you were a king? That’s what gave you the time to go father two kids this big on the side. Yeah, she really wronged you!"
"And she didn’t have a man on the side?"
"Sean Sutton!" Mrs. Sutton couldn’t believe he was slandering her. "When have I ever? You think everyone is like you?!"
’The nerve of him, playing the victim!’
"No?" Sean Sutton continued to sling mud. "You just don’t dare admit it in front of your daughter!"
Anne said, "Your own illegitimate daughter is standing right here for everyone to see, and yet you’re slandering my mother! You claim she was with someone else? Then go on, tell us who! You can’t just make baseless accusations without a shred of evidence. That’s absurd!"
"Exactly! Who does that?"
The crowd wasn’t stupid. They weren’t buying his act.
Seeing Sean Sutton losing the argument, Maya Evans chimed in, "This is where men always get the short end of the stick! Who’s to say her two daughters are even Mr. Sutton’s!"
At Maya Evans’s words, Anne turned to her. "So, what you’re saying is, my sister and I aren’t Mr. Sutton’s biological daughters?"
"..." Maya Evans replied, "You’d have to ask your mother that, wouldn’t you?"
"If that’s the case, why did you all come running here from Westhaven, trying to claim you’re my relatives just a moment ago? If I’m not his biological daughter, then he should be staying far, far away from me!"
"I..." Maya Evans realized she had misspoken.
Sean Sutton shot her a glare before turning to Anne. "No! Anne, you’re my biological daughter. You even look like me."
"I don’t look like you," Anne said. "I look like my mom. I’m not ugly like you."
"You..."
Yvonne Evans said, "Anne Sutton, how can you talk to Dad like that?"
"If you have the guts to show up here, don’t expect me to treat you like guests. Get lost! Stop blocking the entrance and disturbing the business!"
Yvonne retorted, "That’s hilarious! If you can come to this restaurant, why can’t we?"
"Actually, you can’t," Anne said. "The owner doesn’t welcome you."
"Anne Sutton, don’t think you’re so special now! You say we can’t eat here? Well, we’re going to eat here today, and that’s final!"
’I refuse to believe that I have money and still can’t eat here!’
With that, she turned to a nearby server and demanded, "Get your owner out here! I refuse to believe this!"
’I really can’t stand the way Anne Sutton acts.’
Anne let out a cold laugh when she heard this.
The server pointed to Mrs. Sutton. "She is our owner. If you have something to say, say it to her."
"You..." Yvonne stared at Mrs. Sutton.
Sean Sutton was also surprised. He looked at Mrs. Sutton and asked, "You opened this restaurant?"
"What, is that not allowed?"
"You? You know how to run a business?" Maya Evans laughed coldly. "I bet you just thought Mr. Sutton gave you too much money and you only know how to waste it! Mr. Sutton, you never should have given her that much! It’s a complete waste on her! And now she dares to open a restaurant? Do you know how many people go bankrupt opening restaurants!"
’She’d once had Sean Sutton give her money to open a shop, but after all the hustle and bustle, the business never took off and she ended up losing a lot of money.’
’So she eventually just gave up!’
’I can’t believe Mina Ford is so clueless that she’d try to open a restaurant here, too.’
"That’s none of your concern!" Anne said. "Worry about yourself!"
"What’s going on?"
Just then, Nathan Fawcett walked over, with Butler Walters by his side.
Nathan was a bit surprised to see such a commotion at the entrance.
His gaze fell on Sean Sutton.
When Sean Sutton saw Nathan Fawcett, he stammered, "Eth... Ethan Linden..."
"Just call me Nathan Fawcett," Nathan said, his expression cold.
Sean Sutton was surprised that he was no longer using the name Ethan Linden and was instead introducing himself directly as Nathan Fawcett.
’I wonder what happened,’ he thought.
Maya Evans stood to the side, staring at the man she had always thought was Ethan Linden. ’So he’s actually Nathan Fawcett?’
’The Nathan Fawcett from the Fawcett Group?’
’Nathan Fawcett looked so cold and intimidating!’
’Besides, back when she was with Sean Sutton, she had heard rumors about Nathan Fawcett. Especially before his supposed ’death’—he was said to be a cruel, spoiled heir. Anyone who crossed him was said to meet a terrible end.’
Yvonne Evans stood to the side, sizing up Nathan Fawcett. ’He’s... so handsome!’
’Her heart pounded in her chest, and a pang of jealousy shot through her. Why wasn’t she the one with him?’
’If I had known, I should have had Dad marry me into the Fawcett family!’
Sean Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett and began, "Nathan..."
"Are we that familiar?" Nathan shot him a cold glance.
Sean Sutton had no choice but to change his tune. "Mr. Fawcett. It’s been a while."
Nathan Fawcett said, "Since you’re here, Mr. Sutton, why don’t you come in for a meal?"
Nathan’s words were surprisingly polite.
It sounded as if he were genuinely inviting Sean Sutton to come in and eat.
’But I was so awful to Anne’s mother, and he’s still inviting me to eat?’
’How is that possible?’
’Besides, back then...’
’...I worked with Charles Prescott to harm Nathan Fawcett’s child. How could I possibly dare?’
He shook his head. "No, no, we were just about to leave."
