Chapter 381: This Is Your Ex-Husband?

"What is it?"

"It’s about Ryan Linden," Noah Linden said. "He knows you’re back, and he’s furious. He might come looking for trouble."

Nathan Fawcett glanced at Noah Linden and said, "Thanks for the warning. Don’t worry about him. It’s not like I’m afraid of him."

Last time, Ryan had a finger cut off by him, though it was later reattached.

But even so, Ryan Linden still hated Nathan Fawcett’s guts.

However, in Nathan Fawcett’s eyes, everything Ryan did was nothing more than an incompetent tantrum.

Noah Linden said, "That’s good, then."

When Caleb Summers and Nathan Fawcett returned to the office, Caleb looked at Nathan and said, "Noah Linden has a pretty good impression of you now! See? All these guys who only see things in hindsight aren’t like me... I’ve got good judgment! Nathan, I was on your side from the very beginning, right?"

Hearing this, Nathan Fawcett glanced at the other man. "I’m getting married. You can stop hitting on me."

Caleb Summers: "..."

What the hell!

"Where did your mind even go?"

He was speechless.

Nathan Fawcett said, "Go get back to work. I’m going home for lunch."

"Going home to eat?"

"I’m eating at Mrs. Sutton’s place."

"Isn’t that a hassle?" It was a bit of a drive from here to Mrs. Sutton’s restaurant.

He was actually going to rush over there just for a meal during his lunch break. Caleb Summers found it a bit much. ’A man with a wife truly doesn’t mind the hassle!’

Nathan Fawcett said, "I didn’t get to see my son last night. I’m going back to see him now."

"You’d better just be going to see your son!"

Caleb Summers was deeply suspicious of him.

’Looking at him now, it doesn’t seem like he’s *really* just going to see his son!’

Nathan Fawcett shot him a look and said, "I’m leaving."

「At noon.」

Anne Sutton and Ian were at Mrs. Sutton’s restaurant. She was helping her mother go over the accounts. Anna Linden had said she was coming for lunch today and asked both Anne and Ian to join, so she had come over.

Anna Linden had already arrived and was chatting with Mrs. Sutton in a private room. Anne Sutton was sitting at the front counter looking over the ledgers, with Ian beside her.

Now, the only one missing was Nathan Fawcett.

"Mom, let’s just eat here!"

A little boy’s voice drifted in from the entrance.

Anne Sutton looked up and saw a family of four walk in.

The restaurant had a lot of customers coming and going.

Mrs. Sutton’s restaurant wasn’t small, and business was pretty good.

She never expected to run into acquaintances here.

It was none other than Sean Sutton, along with his mistress and their children.

The Sutton Family used to be a family of four, and Anne would sometimes go out to eat with her father.

But now...

Looking at this family, she only felt like they were strangers.

"Anne Sutton!" Yvonne Evans recognized Anne at a glance.

She walked over, looked at Anne sitting there, and said, "I can’t believe I’m running into you here!"

"Anne!" Her father hadn’t expected to see her here either. His eyes lit up when he saw her.

Anne Sutton said, "Are we close?"

They hadn’t expected those to be the first words out of her mouth.

Yvonne Evans said, "Dad calls you and you don’t answer. He texts you and you don’t reply. He came all the way to Veridia to see you. How can you be so heartless?"

Yvonne Evans had a self-righteous look on her face as she said this.

Beside her, Maya Evans tugged at her arm, trying to get her to stop talking.

When Sean Sutton saw Anne Sutton, his attitude instantly became incredibly gentle, as if he were seeing a long-lost relative. "We heard you were in Veridia, so we came to see you. We know you’re busy and it’s hard to get through to your phone, so we thought we’d try our luck."

He knew Anne had brought her mother over. But now that his daughter was successful, he wasn’t about to let Mrs. Sutton reap all the benefits alone.

’This is my daughter, too!’

Naturally, he had to come and keep an eye on Anne Sutton.

Even though Anne Sutton had blocked him long ago.

’I can’t believe my luck is this good. I just came out for a meal and actually ran into Anne!’

Anne Sutton glanced at a nearby server. "Get them out of here!"

’She didn’t want to waste a single word on these people!’

’Saying one more sentence would be a waste of breath!’

"You, you, you... What kind of attitude is that?" Yvonne Evans demanded. "Dad came all this way to see you out of the kindness of his heart, and this is how you act! Do you have any idea how hard it was for us to find you?"

They had been here for several days without finding Anne Sutton. They had even paid a visit to the Linden Family, only to be thrown out and called scammers.

With no other options, they decided to just eat, drink, and have fun in Veridia, planning to head back if they couldn’t find her.

After all, who was to blame when Anne Sutton wouldn’t even answer her phone?

Now that they had finally seen Anne, she was trying to kick them out without a second word. Naturally, Yvonne Evans wasn’t having it.

They weren’t used to Veridia’s local food, so after some effort, they’d found a place that served Westhaven Cuisine and decided to eat here.

Besides, the restaurant’s atmosphere seemed nice enough.

Anne Sutton looked at the family and said to the security guard who had come over, "Hurry up."

"Yes, ma’am!" The guard showed no mercy and immediately started forcing them out.

"They’re attacking people! They’re attacking people!" Maya Evans was no pushover. Seeing how rude Anne was being, she immediately started making a scene at the entrance.

There were many customers, and they all turned to look when they heard her shouting.

Mrs. Sutton heard the commotion from the private room and came out with Anna Linden.

When she saw it was Sean Sutton’s family, her face darkened. She couldn’t believe that even after hiding away in Veridia, she still had to see them.

She walked out and said, "What are you doing here?"

"Mom."

Anne Sutton stood up and went to her mother’s side.

The moment Sean Sutton saw her, he burst out cursing, "Mina Ford, is this how you raise a daughter? I show up and she throws me out? No matter what, I’m still her biological father! How dare you teach her to disown me?"

He didn’t dare yell at Anne Sutton, so he could only yell at Mrs. Sutton.

Hearing this, Mrs. Sutton said, "Shouldn’t you know perfectly well why our daughter won’t acknowledge you?"

Sean Sutton was livid at her words. "You damn woman, you didn’t have this daughter by yourself! You lived off me for all those years, and you couldn’t even raise a daughter properly! And now you won’t even let her acknowledge me!"

He had never shown Mrs. Sutton a shred of respect.

After all, in his eyes, Mrs. Sutton couldn’t earn money, nor could she give him a son.

At least Maya Evans had given him a son!

Anna Linden walked over and stood by Mrs. Sutton. "This is your ex-husband?"

Although she had already pretty much guessed it the moment Sean Sutton opened his mouth.

But seeing Sean Sutton speak to Mrs. Sutton like that in front of so many people still made Anna so angry she nearly slapped him across the face with the sole of her shoe.

Mrs. Sutton gritted her teeth. "Yes!"

She didn’t want to admit she had such a terrible past.

Sean Sutton’s vile expression, in particular, was a stark reminder of how much of a failure her past life had been.

Sean Sutton said, "You can teach our daughter to disown me, but I’ll make sure everyone knows what a nasty piece of work you are, Mina Ford! Whatever happened between us is our business. What right do you have to make our daughter disown me, huh? I even gave you so much money when we divorced."

The thought that he had given her over a billion, only for his own daughter to disown him now, made him furious enough to die.

And on top of that, Maya Evans would constantly complain to him about it.
