Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune
Chapter 348: Ian Is Still Here
That’s why she skipped filming today and came straight here.
Anne Sutton was surprised by Stella Shields’ words. "Are you saying that Ethan Linden is behind the news about the Shields family, and it has something to do with me?"
"You obviously did it on purpose. Don’t play dumb."
"If that’s really the case, then I’m thrilled," Anne Sutton said. "If I’d known this would bring your family down, I would’ve done it sooner."
"You..." Stella Shields raised her hand to slap Anne Sutton.
Anne Sutton watched her calmly. "Go ahead and try."
Stella Shields gritted her teeth, glaring at Anne, seething with rage.
Just then, Nathan Fawcett emerged from inside.
When Stella Shields saw him, she rushed over. "Ethan."
Nathan Fawcett’s gaze fell upon Anne Sutton’s face.
Seeing him look her way, Anne Sutton didn’t speak.
Stella, on the other hand, turned to Nathan Fawcett and said, "Ethan, my brother knows he was wrong. Please forgive him! I’ll make sure he never comes looking for Anne Sutton again, alright? He really has nothing to do with her."
Nathan Fawcett looked at Stella Shields. "You can go now."
Stella Shields said, "Why are you doing this to me? I tolerated you being with Anne Sutton. There’s nothing I can do about that. But why are you going after the Shields family now? Is it all because of her? Is she really worth all this?"
Nathan Fawcett’s eyes were on Anne Sutton as he spoke to Stella Shields. "Hasn’t your brother been getting quite close to her? I’ve already warned him. You can go now."
"You’ve really gone too far!" Stella Shields exclaimed. "I’ll hate you for this!"
"I don’t care." It made no difference to him.
Stella Shields stared at him, tears of anger streaming down her face. Seeing that he had no intention of backing down, she turned and left.
Anne Sutton watched the scene unfold, then walked over, holding Ian’s hand.
She glanced at Nathan Fawcett. "Are you taking it out on the Shields family just because of what happened this morning?"
"Why not?" Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton. "Isn’t this what you like?"
"..." Anne Sutton replied, "You’re being so childish. Besides, do you really think I care what happens to the Shields family?"
"At least this way, Justin Shields won’t dare to show his face around you again, will he?" Nathan Fawcett retorted.
The thought of her deliberately showing concern for another man right in front of him made Nathan Fawcett burn with rage.
He was an intensely possessive man.
In the past, he hadn’t cared. He’d even tolerated her seeing other people, but that was because... he hadn’t cared about her then.
But now, the moment he saw her being nice to another man, he was filled with a murderous rage.
"You’re certainly ruthless," said Anne Sutton. "After all, Stella Shields has helped you quite a bit in the past. By doing this, you’re completely disregarding your mother and Ethan Linden."
’After all, Stella Shields and Ethan Linden are childhood sweethearts. His mother would never approve of him targeting the Shields family like this.’
Nathan Fawcett said nothing.
Anne Sutton took Ian’s hand and started to head inside.
But as she passed him, he grabbed her by the wrist.
She looked up at him. Nathan Fawcett didn’t release her hand. His face drew so close it nearly touched hers. He stared at her intently. "Anne Sutton, since you’re with me, you are mine forever! Don’t even think about touching anyone but me!"
Anne Sutton looked at the man. "I don’t care. You can’t control me."
"You might not care," Nathan Fawcett said, "but I’d like to see who’s willing to risk complete ruin just to be with you."
Anne Sutton looked at him. "Do whatever you want."
With that, she walked through the door.
Nathan Fawcett watched her retreat, then followed her inside.
He sat to one side, his eyes fixed on her.
Anne Sutton completely ignored him, as if he were thin air.
She and Ian had already eaten out.
Ian stood to one side, watching Nathan Fawcett. He could tell Nathan was in a bad mood.
He said to Anne, "Mommy, I’m sleepy."
"Okay, I’ll take you to bed."
With Nathan Fawcett sitting there, Anne Sutton lost interest in doing anything else and just wanted to go to bed early to avoid the discomfort of looking at him.
She took Ian upstairs, tucked him in, and then went to shower and get ready for bed herself.
But when she walked into her room, she found Nathan Fawcett sitting there.
"You’re still here?" Anne Sutton asked.
’I told him not to sleep here anymore!’
Nathan Fawcett looked at her. "I’m sleeping here tonight."
"Then I’ll sleep somewhere else." Unwilling to argue, Anne Sutton turned to leave.
But Nathan Fawcett had already stepped forward and shut the door.
He trapped Anne Sutton between the door and his body.
He stared down at her. "Stay with me."
"..." Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett. "Do you think I’m in the mood? I don’t want to even look at you right now."
Nathan Fawcett stared at her. "You know I like you."
"...And what is this ’like’ of yours? You ’like’ me, so you dump me here, ignore me, but won’t let me be with anyone else. Nathan, I’m sick of this game! Why don’t you just let me go!"
Nathan Fawcett looked at her and said, "I will never let you go! I want you by my side."
He raised a hand to stroke her cheek, then leaned in for a kiss.
Anne Sutton pulled away. "Don’t touch me."
Hearing her words, Nathan Fawcett looked at her, and after a moment of restraint, he let her go.
Seeing he wouldn’t let her leave, Anne Sutton decided to just take a shower.
After her shower, she came out, got into bed, and tried to sleep.
A short while later, Nathan Fawcett also showered and got into the bed.
They lay in bed together. Since Anne Sutton had told him not to touch her, he kept his distance.
He simply lay beside her in silence, staring at her.
The lights in the room weren’t completely off.
Anne Sutton was aware of his presence but ignored him.
She soon fell asleep.
...
The next morning, when she woke up, she saw Nathan Fawcett sitting by the bed. She got up, changed her clothes, and left the room.
As she was leaving the house, Anne Sutton saw Justin Shields.
Seeing him standing by the door, Anne Sutton asked, "Morning. What brings you here?"
"Is Ethan here?" Justin Shields asked curiously.
Anne Sutton knew about the Shields family’s current predicament.
She replied, "He slept here last night. He’s still inside."
"Thanks."
"I’ll wait for him here," Justin Shields said.
"Is your family doing okay?" Anne Sutton asked.
Hearing her question, Justin Shields gave a slight smile. "It’s nothing. Things will be fine once Ethan cools down. He’s always like this. When he loses his temper, no one can stop him. But he’ll be fine once he calms down."
Anne Sutton looked at him, remembering that Nathan had gotten angry precisely because she had deliberately shown concern for Justin.
’I had thought Nathan would take it out on me. I never imagined he would vent his anger on the Shields family instead.’
Anne Sutton looked at Justin Shields and said, "I have to get to work."
"Okay."
Anne Sutton left.
When she returned that afternoon, Nathan Fawcett wasn’t home. He had probably gone to his company.
After picking up Ian from her mother’s house, Anne Sutton saw Caleb Summers.
Caleb Summers’s gaze fell on Anne Sutton. "So, Ian is still here!"
