Chapter 347: If It Weren’t for You

Justin Shields glanced at him. After being snapped at, he didn’t respond.

Caleb Summers walked over and looked at Justin Shields. "Every time Ethan is away, you cozy up to her. You know perfectly well what his relationship with Anne Sutton is. Mr. Shields, you’re unbelievably shameless!"

Hearing Caleb Summers’s words, Justin Shields said, "Mr. Summers, what are you talking about? I haven’t done anything. Last night, Anne took me to my hotel, and I just came over to thank her."

"Thanking her? And you’re still here having a meal." Caleb Summers looked at him. "I don’t think you came just to say thank you at all!"

Justin Shields said, "I really did just come to thank her. I don’t know why you’re so hostile toward me, Mr. Summers. It’s not like I can interfere in Anne’s and Ethan Linden’s relationship just because I want to, right?"

"So, it seems you do have that in mind?"

Caleb Summers stared coldly at Justin Shields. He really couldn’t stand the sight of him.

Anne Sutton, who had been sitting to the side, watched the two men who had barged in like gangsters and were being incredibly rude to Justin Shields. "He’s my guest. I asked him to stay for dinner. Do you have a problem with that?"

Caleb Summers looked at Anne Sutton and said, "Anne, are you out of your mind?"

"Don’t call me that." Anne Sutton glanced at Nathan Fawcett. "I’m not worthy of the title! I’ve already told Ethan Linden not to come here anymore! He is not welcome. Now, both of you can get out."

Caleb Summers: "..."

He glanced at Nathan Fawcett, then at Anne Sutton. ’I can’t believe their relationship has deteriorated to this point.’

’Looks like their talk last night didn’t go well, either?’

Justin Shields sat to one side, watching the scene unfold, not understanding what they were arguing about.

’From the looks of it, did Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett have a fight?’

’Is their relationship in trouble?’

Seeing that they were both still sitting there, Anne Sutton asked, "What, you’re still not leaving? Since when did you two get so thick-skinned that I can’t even chase you out?"

Caleb Summers said, "Well, uh, we haven’t eaten yet. We were hoping to freeload a meal."

He looked at Anne Sutton and said, "You’re mad at Ethan, but I haven’t done anything to offend you, right?"

After saying that, he hurried to grab some bowls, getting one for himself and another for Nathan Fawcett.

He brought them over and placed them on the table.

He sat down and started eating. He glanced at Nathan Fawcett, and seeing him sitting there motionless, he tugged on his sleeve. "Ethan, didn’t you say you were hungry? Go on, eat!"

Anne Sutton sat nearby, watching Nathan Fawcett. Just seeing him standing there so coldly made her blood boil.

’I have no idea what he’s thinking.’

Ian looked at Nathan Fawcett and asked, "Dad, aren’t you going to eat?"

Nathan Fawcett sat down, but he didn’t pick up his chopsticks. He just watched Anne Sutton.

Seeing him just sitting there, Anne Sutton picked up her chopsticks, placed some food in Justin Shields’s bowl, and said, "Go on, eat!"

Justin Shields: "..."

Faced with Anne Sutton’s sudden attentiveness, he almost bit his tongue.

’I can tell the tension between Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett is awful right now.’

’Nathan Fawcett probably wants to kill me right about now!’

Anne Sutton sat nearby, ignoring Nathan Fawcett and continuing to place food in Justin Shields’s bowl.

Justin Shields looked at Anne Sutton and said, "Please, don’t. I can serve myself. You’re going to make Ethan angry."

The Shields Family depended entirely on Nathan Fawcett for support; he didn’t dare to openly offend him.

Anne Sutton said, "What are you afraid of? It’s not like he and I are married."

After saying that, Anne poured Justin Shields a glass of water.

She had just poured the water for Justin Shields, and before he had a chance to drink it, Nathan Fawcett smashed his bowl.

Then he stormed out.

Seeing this, Caleb Summers quickly stood up. He glanced at Anne Sutton and said, "You just can’t be happy unless you’re provoking him, can you!"

Anne Sutton retorted, "What’s that got to do with me?"

’Isn’t he the one provoking me?’

’Is he the only one who’s allowed to be angry? Can’t I be angry too?’

’Thinking about all the things he’s done still makes me sick to my stomach!’

After Nathan Fawcett left, Anne Sutton glanced at Justin Shields, no longer showing him the same attentiveness as before.

Justin Shields asked, "Is it that serious this time?"

"He started it." Anne Sutton grew angry again as she recalled Nathan Fawcett’s attitude toward her.

’I really regret letting myself get taken in by a few of his sweet words back then.’

’I forgave him so easily!’

’He always manages to do something to disappoint me!’

’I never should have trusted this man at all.’

Justin Shields asked, "So, you don’t want to be with him anymore?"

Anne Sutton was silent.

Justin Shields said, "If that’s really how it is, then how about... I just play the part of the ’tool’ to the end. You could just get together with me! That would be a clean break from him."

Sitting nearby, Anne Sutton looked at Justin Shields and said, "Forget it."

"Why?" Justin Shields asked. "Am I that terrible of a choice?"

"Your family is awful!" Anne Sutton said. "If I got together with you, your mom would probably want to kill me."

’I’ve already had a complete falling out with the Shields Family!’

’I have no interest in that.’

Justin Shields looked at Anne Sutton. He wanted to say something, but in the end, he remained silent.

Ian sat to the side, quietly eating his meal.

After the meal, Justin Shields left.

Anne Sutton had the day off, so she took Ian to her mother’s shop to help out.

She said she was helping, but in reality, there wasn’t much for her to do.

Anne Sutton sat in the shop, extremely bored. She picked up her phone and browsed the news online.

She happened to scroll past some news related to the Shields Family’s entertainment company.

"I already went there. The butler said he came here." Stella Shields looked at Anne Sutton. "Anne Sutton, have you seen the news? This business with my family—did you tell Ethan Linden to do it? Just how badly do you want to hurt my family before you’ll be satisfied?"

"..." Hearing what Stella Shields said, Anne Sutton gave her a surprised look. "What does your family’s business have to do with me?"

"It is because of you," Stella Shields said. "If it weren’t for you, Ethan Linden wouldn’t have suddenly targeted our family like this! I’ve already asked around!"

Previously, Stella Shields had been trying to get Justin Shields closer to Anne Sutton, thinking it would give her a chance with Ethan Linden.

But she never imagined that Justin Shields getting closer to Anne Sutton would result in the Shields Family being the ones to suffer the consequences.

Nathan Fawcett couldn’t stand Justin Shields deliberately showing up in front of Anne Sutton, so he used the Shields Family to put pressure on him!
