Marriage Contract with my Cursed Alien Mate
Chapter 207
Chapter 207: Chapter 207
Dron could feel the hairs standing up on the back of his neck.
He knew that he should be scared, but his alpha instincts refused to let him go there.
He should be scared not only because of the savage soldiers trying to beat down the gates to Tine’s settlement but also because Tempest refused to go somewhere safe.
He prayed that she wouldn’t do anything to get herself killed, or better yet, when she saw how bloody things were about to get, maybe she would run away and go to safety like he wanted her to.
Dron knew better. Tempest wasn’t a quitter.
"You are to stay by my side at all times. If I am to fall..." He started, but she cut him off.
"It’s not going to happen."
Her faith in him was amazing, but he had to prepare her.
"If I do, run away with Rynax and Aliq. Be safe. Please." He turned to look at her again. He didn’t want her to take this lightly. Things could very well turn out badly.
She nodded and that was more than he expected from her. At least she wasn’t fighting him on this.
Dron stared up in awe as Anadi roared and swung her arms.
She was doing a good job at getting rid of some of the soldiers trying to get in but even Dron could see that she wouldn’t be able to get all of them. There were still some trying to break down the door.
Trying and succeeding.
"Men...." Dron started but then he looked around again and he realized that it wasn’t only the alphas who were gearing up for the attack. Some of the human women and even a few omegas had picked up weapons as if they were going to try their hand. "Fighters!, " He corrected himself, "Steady yourselves."
Aliq was the next one to yell out an order, "Don’t let them get to the sides. If we let them get into the cliffs we won’t be able to find them."
Dron shouted out again. "Keep the fight here. No one behind us. Protect what is ours. Show them we won’t go down without a fight. Show them what we are fighting for!"
There was a loud roar from the people in the settlement and at that very second the doors to the settlement burst open.
Dron growled and lowered himself into a fighting stance. His vision turned red and all he could hear was the sound of fighting going on around him.
He was surprised to find that even though he was in his full alpha mode there was still a small part of him that was acutely aware of where Tempest was and what she was doing. His eyes jerked to the side when she rushed off.
At first he thought that she was going to retreat to safety...he had no such luck.
She found a pile of debris and picked up a long stick, it was oddly shaped but it was long and strong. She rushed back to his side.
"The brighter and more abundant their marks the stronger they are." Dron said as instruction. He wanted her to know what she was about to get herself into. If she was going to fight he wanted to make sure that she didn’t try to take on someone who would significantly overpower her. Though everyone she was about to face would overpower her.
Dron couldn’t focus on that. Not when he had a wave of people snarling and growling at him rushing forward.
At once the soldiers he had with him in the settlement converged on the group and the fighting began.
Blood and body parts began flying around. Screams of pain and victory.
Three alphas made their way to Dron, and he quickly did away with one of them, the others tried to surround him. He fought, swinging his fists into their face and crushing bones with every blow. The savage soldiers didn’t go down easy.
Dron grunted as he felt one of them wrap their arms around his neck and pull backward. A second later the grip on his neck released. Dron turned slightly to see what had happened.
Tempest thrusted hard with the dull edge of her staff into the alphas genital area. The man fell covering himself while she continued to bludgeon the man with the staff.
Dron wanted to laugh. He wanted to jump up in excitement just watching his wife take out the offending alpha. There was no time.
He focused on the other man. Dron lifted his knee up and smashed it into the midsection of the soldier standing in front of him. The gruesome looking man grunted and tried to take in a breath. He staggered back and Dron advanced. There was no getting away. No retreat for them.
These people had come in and tried to disrupt their peace. The little peace that they managed to claw out in the few moments they had come to be in the settlement.
Dron knew this wouldn’t end until they were all dealt with. Part of that knowledge bothered him. He wasn’t there to destroy. He was there to bring people together.
This group was too far gone. Too far away from the civilization that they all wanted for themselves.
He wondered briefly if there would be people like this back on Thraqe. People so stuck in their ways that all they could do would be get rid of them. Could he actually do that?
Would Tempest do that?
The questions swirled in his head but he had no time to focus on them.
The man in front of him swung a metal weapon wildly at Dron’s head. Dron leaned back and in that moment he was able to see the weapon was poorly made. It was top heavy and would never hit the desired mark in a heated moment.
Dron took advantage of that. He waited for the man to swing the weapon again but this time instead of just ducking away Dron grabbed hold of it. He bent the mans arm at the elbow and used the momentum of the swing to drive the weapon back against him. Dron roared loud as the misshapen weapon collided and then sliced into the opposers neck.
A squelshing sound forced him to push harder. Dron watched as the light slowly dimmed from the man’s eyes as the weapon cut deeper and deeper into his neck. Blood leaked in a rushing river down the side of his body and onto the ground.
After a second, Dron let go and the man fell in a heap to the ground.
There was no time to examine the victory, another soldier rushed him. This time Tempest was right there at his side, before the man could even get to Dron she jutted her staff out so it would get tangled into the aggressors legs. He fell forward just as Dron delivered a devastating uppercut that had the man spitting out teeth and knocked out before he even fell to the ground. Dron lifted his leg and brought his foot down hard on the side of the man’s head.
Dron’s alpha screamed a warning in his head and it took him a second to locate the source of the threat. There were enemies all around. It wasn’t until he turned to look at Tempest that he noticed an alpha rushing straight toward her. His spear thrust out. Rushing straight in the direction of Tempest’s back.
"No!" Dron roared before he grabbed Tempest roughly. He yanked her forward and tossed her behind him as he spun out of the way of the weapon coming in their direction. The sharp blade cut across his stomach but thankfully it didn’t cut deep enough to stop him or if it had he didn’t realize it.
Tempest got back to her feet and tried to help. She swung her staff but it missed the mark. The soldier ducked and tried to reach for her again.
There was no mistaken it. These people were here for her. They wanted her dead. In order for them to do that they would have to go through Dron.
He wasn’t about to let that happen.
Dron grabbed hold of the middle of the spear and with a flex of his hand broke the sharp edge off. It dropped to the ground. For a second Dron figured Tempest would reach down and grab for the deadlier weapon. She simply kicked it away.
Dron refocused on the man in front of him. He slammed his fists into the man’s face over and over until he found himself straddled him on the ground pounding his bones into the dirt underneath them.
"Dron!" Tempest called out, "We have to help them!" She was off before he could get to his feet. When Dron looked up he realized that Tempest had run off not to safety but to help another group of women who were trying to fight off an Alpha.
The alpha was lined with bright markings. Everywhere Dron could see. He was probably stronger than Dron. Definetly not someone Tempest should be fighting.
He was the new leader.
Dron quickly moved to assist Tempest.
The women were doing all they could to push the strong leader alpha back but there attacks were doing very little damage.
Dron grabbed hold of the man and flipped him back onto the ground.
There was a strange silence that fell over the crowd before a roar echoed in the settlement.
It was just as Dron suspected this alpha was the new leader. He’d just challenged him. Dron would have no choice but to kill him.
