Manaless Mage

Chapter 71 Let’s Turn It Up A Little…

[Does the Host want to learn the skill “Blade Barrage”?]

[Cost: 10 Skill points]

[Yes/No]

Harry’s eyes widened slightly, however, he wasn’t surprised by the notification itself but by the spell! The last thing he had expected was to find a tier three spell in the library!

Though the notification said nothing about the skill or rather, spell tier, Harry was able to discover it through the spell book itself.

On every spell scroll, the name and tier of the spell was normally written at the upper and lower part of the ‘book’.

Harry’s brows furrowed as he drifted into his thoughts.

His earlier plan had been to only spend ten skill points at most in each library, however, he got carried away and had already spent fifteen skill points in the wind library alone—coupled with [Lightning Stun] which he leant a few days ago, he only had thirty skill points left. 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘭.𝘦𝘵

He willed for the system to display the skill description and another set of characters flashed across his eyes.

[Does the Host want to learn the skill “Blade Barrage”?]

[Blade Barrage: Conjure a large number of wind blades—the number depends on the amount of mana used on the skill, and continuously shoot them out]

[Cost: 10 Skill points]

[Yes/No]

He shrugged slightly as he mumbled, ‘Yes.’

Though he had spent more skill points than he earlier expected, it wasn’t like it was a waste.

The only downside to this was that he might not be able to learn tier two spells from the Lightning library and earth library.

Besides, this was a very good opportunity and he couldn’t lose it; an opportunity to learn a powerful skill.

[Learning skill…]

Although he might not be able to activate the skill while in the academy as that would definitely make him seem suspicious, it would still be very useful to him.

He took out the scroll and stared at in surprise. He knew there was no tier three spell in the library and the fact that one was here meant the academy had made a mistake or someone forgot—perhaps a high ranking student or a student from an influential family.

For former was unlikely as the chances of the academy instructors dropping something like a tier three spell was very low.

So what happened was probably the latter—an Elementalist in the academy definitely forgot the spell in the library.

His mind subconsciously drifted to Trent, he could still remember how nervous Trent was when confronted by the librarian.

It was as if the brown haired boy had done something wrong, a low chuckle left Harry’s lips as he thought of the possibility.

Though he didn’t know what made Trent unsettled, there was a high probability that it was because of the tier three spell.

[Skill Learnt: Blade Barrage]

For some reason, the process took longer this time. It was probably because the spell was more complex than tier one two spells so the system took a little time to learn the skill.

Harry’s eyes shone as he watched the medium sized lightning ball dancing around his palm.

He was currently in the training hall, since he had already become an ‘official’ stage one Elementalist, he was now free to training his ‘spells’ without worrying about any suspicions.

In front of him were a couple of flat rectangular targets, they were arranged horizontally on a small railing fixated on the ground.

The targets were pointed upwards so the flat surfaces faced Harry. At the middle of each of them, a medium sized red dot could be seen.

The gleam in Harry’s eyes shone brighter as he launched the bright blue ball cackling with lightning in his hands.

The lightning ball flew at an astonishing speed before hitting the red mark on one of the training targets.

Lightning danced around the surface for a few seconds before receding.

Harry couldn’t help but smile as he stared at his palm, a few streaks of lightning were still on his palm even though he had cancelled the skill. They slowly receded as his hand returned to its normal ‘state’.

Though this wasn’t the first time he would be activating [Lightning Ball], this was the first time he had actually launched it.

The feeling of being free to use his ‘spells’ without worrying about being experimented on and viewed as an alien was exhilarating and he couldn’t help but relish in it.

Usually he would only activate the skills and stare at the lightning ball above his palm, however, it was different now.

Although he still couldn’t get too lax and complacent as he still had to be careful when using skills on par with tier two spells, he still felt glad—he was getting closer to accomplishing his goal.

His ‘mana core’ was still at the first stage and if he was found using skills like [Wind slash] and [Lightning Strike] which were basically tier two and tier three spells, he would definitely attract suspicions.

He squinted his eyes slightly as he stared at his elemental skills through the [Skills and Abilities] tab in the system.

——

[Lightning Skills and Abilities]

[Earth Skills And Abilities]

>>Blade Barrage (level 1)

He ignored the other element skills as his gaze drifted down to [Wind skills and abilities], a slight smile appeared on his face as he stared at the last skill under the tab.

Out of all his elements, his lightning element had the most skills, while his earth element had the fewest.

He only had two skills on par—and probably more powerful—with tier three spells. They were [Lightning strike] and [Blade barrage], however, he still considered the later as the most powerful due to its wider attack range.

Harry closed the system tab using his thoughts alone as he placed his attention back on the long rectangular objects in front of him.

A slight smile appeared on Harry’s face as he turned towards the edge of the room where a short control device was located.

Without wasting too much time, he walked towards the device.

The training room control was fixated on the wall, its appearance and structure was similar to a telephone except it didn’t have a phone but rather, a red change-over that moved upwards and downwards.

Just like a regular telephone, it also had buttons at the side.

‘This is too boring, let’s turn it up a little…’ He said inwardly as he grabbed the red changeover handle.
