Chapter 32: Crime Scene

A week passed and Arthur was able to move his body again. Once he was able to, he went back to the human world through Myne who led him back as he hadn’t seen his sister and Rose for a while. To him, it felt like it had been months since he saw them.

The queen told him to be safe which was shocking and surprising as she wasn’t someone who would say something like that to anyone, especially if it was a man who was a lot younger than her.

Hella, on the other hand, told him that she would come to pick him up for a lock down training, so he should spend his time with his sister as much as he could which made him sigh and think back about all that happened that led him to this point to be involved with vampires and the supernatural world.

’It’s John’s fault.’ He accused inwardly as he sat on the sofa relaxing his back against it.

Beside him, Ava was hugging his arm tightly while leaning against his shoulder, rubbing her cheeks against him from time to time affectionately like a little cute kitten which made him look amused while his eyes were filled with affection at her cute attitude.

He caressed her soft long black hair making her purr and lean against his caresses while Ella who was supposed to be the one Arthur patting and caressing was pouting beside him as her eyes looked with envy at both of them.

’She always steals him everytime I want him to pamper me, so unfair!’ She muttered inwardly feeling so unfair and angry at her brother who was showering Ava in his affection.

And Arthur could feel her envy and jealousy through the connection he shared with Ella, though he didn’t know what kind it was and didn’t want to think about it for now. Nonetheless, it did him good as through this he could know what Ella was feeling and respond to ease her mood.

And that was what he did. He pulled her into his embrace much to her surprise before he started caressing her hair gently and tenderly making her melt against his touch despite her desire to appear angry with him.

’You are truly unfair brother, Hmmm~’ She said inwardly leaning more against his touch.

"Why do I feel like you are pampering kittens not a grown up person?" Suddenly Rose said as she was observing the whole scene from the beginning to end.

"What can I say, they just look so cute." He said with a warm smile adorning his face making Rose blush and looked away muttering something unrecognizable as she felt her heart skip a beat when she saw that smile.

’How come he became so handsome lately?!!’ She exclaimed inwardly as now Arthur’s natural expression became warmer and more expressive than before. He looked more charming to the eyes.

And her eyes weren’t deceiving her.

’The difference between him now and his past self is like the difference between heaven and earth. God, he is so hot!’ Rose was feeling her mind coming to weird thoughts the more she thought about it, so she quickly came to an excuse to go out and have a breather.

"I’m feeling kinda thirsty. So," As she said so, she stood up and immediately walked out without any weird behavior at all.

She was looking completely fine, like a normal thirsty person who wanted to drink some water.

’Something is definitely on her mind.’ Arthur immediately thought once she walked out. He knew her since they were young after all and knew her habits very well. Like when something was on her mind she would immediately make up an excuse to go away out of nowhere.

However, she should have thought of a better excuse as there was cold and fresh water right on the coffee table.

At some part in New York.

Right outside an alley.

There were several police cars and NYPD personnel and so on.

They were here regarding an incident that was discoverd by some passerby inside the alley.

Inspector Grey was responsible for the investigation of this weird thing that was discovered in the alley.

Once he got there, he got out of his car and moved inside the prohibited area, inside the alley.

As he stepped inside, he immediately covered his nose using some handkerchief as a very repulsive smell hit his nostrils immediately.

He walked closer until he saw the thing that was being observed and checked.

"What the hell had happened here?" He asked as he looked at the body parts and innards scattered everywhere. Blood was splattered on the walls and the ground as well making the scene look bloodier and disgusting.

There were even some brain matter!

"We don’t know sir, it seems that the body exploded from the inside out." A police personnel that was responsible for the keeping the scene clean came and reported to Inspector Grey.

His name was Laris.

"Exploded?" Ins. Grey asked as he looked again at the body.

It really looked as if a bomb was put inside the body before it exploded.

"Looking at the state of the body, this was the only conclusion. There was no cut marks or any signs of hit or aggression. It looked as if it suddenly exploded out of the blue." Laris said as he didn’t want to look at the scene anymore.

Despite being a police officer and something like dead bodies should be normal in his job, he hadn’t seen something this extreme before.

This was the first.

"How much time had passed for the body?"

"A day according to our investigations."

"Then did you figure out the owner of the body?" Ins. Grey said, his voice sounding deep and slightly rough.

"Yes sir, we managed to discover his identify through his ID card that was fortunately intact. His name is Jacob Lorenz, an employee in a tech company called Blue Company."

"That Blue Company?" Ins. Grey said in a slightly surprised tone.

"Yes sir. The one and only in New York."

Then after a brief silence.

"Is there any lead?"

"Not at all, sir."

"Then clean the scene and inform his family, if he has one that is."

"Yes, sir." Though Laris looked reluctant for some reason, he followed the orders nonetheless.

After Officer Laris said so, he went to inform the police personnel about the orders while Inspector Grey stood there looking at the bloody scene in silenece.

He took out a cigarette and lit it up before taking an inhale.

’I hope nothing too extreme.’ He thought before taking another inhale then left the scene.

In another place.

"How could you be this crazy?!! Are you dump?!" The loud voice of a man wearing a white lab coat echoed through the room that was more like a lab.

"I wanted to see the results of our invention." Another one wearing some casual clothes, tanned skin and short silver hair and wild look on his face said. He was muscular.

His voice didn’t carry any hint of apology or anything.

"Results?!! You are insane, you could have just exposed us with that reckless move of yours!" The man in a lab coat said looking so angry and frustrated.

"Calm down, no one found out. So it’s safe." The young man said causally.

"This is just reckless of you, Michael." The man said in a frustrated tone.

"Easy, at least we know that it still needs some improvements." Michael said as his blue eyes glared down at the human in lab coat who just huffed and went back to his work while mumbling something under his teeth.

’If you weren’t beneficial to me, I would have cut you down in half already. Fuck! Why do we have to help these fucking humans!’ Michael cursed inwardly before going away, his eyes gleaming dangerously.

Something strange yet dangerous is going on behind the scene that no one know about.

Will there be danger to Arthur and his family?
