Chapter 2152: Chapter 2152: Mr. Zombie (11)

The number of people coming in kept increasing, and the once-empty space quickly became crowded.

"Close the door! Close it now!!" someone shouted urgently.

Escaping for their lives, everyone instinctively rushed to check the doors and windows without needing instructions.

"Close the main gate too, hurry up and help... We need a few people!!"

Those standing by the main gate went over to help close it, but someone objected: "There are people still behind us, we can’t close it."

"Wait a little longer!"

"They’re almost here!"

From their vantage point, they could see a group of people outside the water plant running towards them.

And behind them, the rain was moving closer... Yes, the rain was falling towards them.

Even more chilling was the sight underneath the rain — zombies were chasing, almost as if they were reveling in it.

Those running slower were quickly overtaken and consumed by the zombies.

The screams mingled with the sound of the rain, filling the air with fear.

"There’s no time!" someone screamed, "Close the door!"

"No!"

"Are you trying to kill everyone here?"

"They’re here, they’re here, don’t close the door..."

"Get out of the way!!"

Though some tried to stop them, the gate was quickly shut, almost simultaneously, accompanied by the sound of people pounding on the door.

But the zombies were already upon them, and no one dared to open the door at this moment.

Crash—

Rain slammed against the building, the noise was deafening, almost drowning out the screams outside.

Inside, people instinctively backed away, staring fearfully at the main door, hugging their families or friends tightly, while those alone gripped their weapons.

Those held down to the ground and had their mouths covered looked at the door in despair.

Crash—

The rain intensified, setting off a storm within their hearts, growing into a tempest.

Everyone was like passengers on a doomed ship, ready to sink into the ocean, as fear and hopelessness spread.

Yet, no one dared to make a sound.

Clang—

A pane of glass on the left suddenly shattered, and the next second, a blood-covered face pressed against the unbroken glass.

"Ah!" someone screamed in fright, quickly silenced by someone beside them.

The face stared maliciously at those inside, eyes fixed: "You will all die! You will all die!"

His voice was like a curse, venomous and filled with hatred.

"Ah..."

Then the face abruptly disappeared.

Only the horrifying bloodstain remained on the glass.

The window was broken; rain drifted in, but no one dared to approach, for zombies were outside.

The zombies lingered for a moment, but did not smash the window, gradually wandering away.

All that remained outside was the sound of rain.

The screams were gone too.

After a moment, someone wanted to go over, but was suddenly stopped by someone in the crowd: "Don’t go!"

"The window..." What if zombies come inside?

A young girl stepped forward, whispering, "The rainwater contains the virus, touching it might lead to infection."

Many knew the virus could spread through water, but hadn’t considered rainwater—wasn’t it just falling from the sky?

How was even the rain now unsafe?

"Anyway, for safety, it’s best not to come in contact with the rainwater," the girl advised.

"Then..." someone pointed at the broken window, "What do we do about it? Zombies might come in..."

"Find something to see if you can block that window first."

-

There weren’t many rooms with doors in this place, Chuzheng occupied one, and others were taken by people as well.

Chuzheng leaned against the doorway, watching the girl directing people to block the window.

That was Jin Ling...

The woman who unreasonably targeted the original protagonist.

Jin Ling wasn’t particularly beautiful, just endearing in a girl-next-door way.

Previously, Jin Ling was with someone from the authorities, how did she end up with this group?

Chuzheng didn’t see anyone from the authorities among them...

They seemed to be a makeshift team, brought together by circumstance.

"Boss!" Zhi Kai called from inside the room: "Come quickly and have a look."

Chuzheng withdrew her gaze and returned to the room, closing the door behind her.

Inside, Bei Chi was tied to a chair by Chuzheng, currently thrashing his head around, looking fretful and fierce.

Xiaoyu and the others stood against the wall, staring fearfully at Bei Chi.

"He suddenly became like this..." Zhi Kai was also quite scared, keeping his distance: "Is it... because there are zombies outside?"

Excited from meeting his kind?

Chuzheng thought not; they had encountered zombies on the road before, and he hadn’t reacted this way.

Chuzheng suddenly remembered those zombies ’partying’ in the rain — could it be the rain?

"Do you want to go outside?"

"Grr!" Bei Chi growled low, struggling more fiercely, moving the chair.

Chuzheng held down the chair, her tone even more forceful: "Calm down."

"..."

The zombie’s lifeless, vacant eyes glared at Chuzheng but truly remained silent.

"Good." Chuzheng petted his head.

The zombie ’grumbled’ and turned away, refusing to let Chuzheng touch his head.

The ’don’t want to live’ group: "..."

Such a bizarre scene.

Terrifying!

-

The room had a window, through which Chuzheng looked out. The rain poured heavily, the dark clouds now directly over the water plant, casting a gloomy and oppressive light.

Her room faced the gate they had entered, currently with zombies wandering outside. Perhaps the rain noise distracted them, so none approached.

All zombies roamed around the empty space outside; those people who hadn’t managed to get in were likely in pieces by now.

The scent of blood drifted faintly from outside.

Knock, knock!

The room door was knocked; Zhi Kai glanced at Chuzheng and then opened it a crack.

"Hello, do you have any medicine?" asked a man outside, his face scraggly with worry in his eyes.

"What medicine?"

"Antibiotics, my wife is sick..."

"Sick?" Zhi Kai found it a bit strange.

"She just has a cold," the man hurriedly explained, fearing Zhi Kai would misunderstand: "It got worse from not having any medicine."

Zhi Kai responded with an ’oh’ and shook his head: "Sorry, we don’t have any medicine."

The man left disheartened; Zhi Kai watched as he persistently asked others, evidently finding no medication.

Eventually, the man returned to the corner, embracing a woman wrapped in a blanket.

Zhi Kai observed for a moment before returning to the room: "That woman seems pregnant."

"Pregnant?"

"Her belly is big, she must be pregnant." Given the size, pregnancy was the only explanation Zhi Kai had.

"Pregnant and taking antibiotics?"

"If it’s severe, won’t she lose her life? And antibiotics aren’t too harmful to the fetus, right?"

No one present had gone through pregnancy and weren’t well-informed about such matters, only knowing pregnant women shouldn’t randomly take medication.

But with the situation now, indeed lives were at stake, with lesser concerns for much else.
