Let’s Squander A Billion First!
Chapter 2151: Mr. Zombie (10)
Chapter 2151: Chapter 2151: Mr. Zombie (10)
The convoy ahead showed no signs of moving, and quite a few people were heading forward with containers to fetch water. Zhao Yingjun and Ah Yi went too.
Zhi Kai was squatting outside the car, while Xiao Gong wielded his slingshot, picking up stones and shooting them towards the sides of the road.
In the car, only Xiaoyu, Chuzheng, and Bei Chi the zombie were left.
Chuzheng ate a little, then turned her head, meeting Bei Chi’s fixed gaze. She unscrewed a bottle of water and pried open Bei Chi’s mouth to pour some in.
"..."
She was used to it.
She had been feeding him like this all along the way.
But do zombies really need to drink water?
Chuzheng never fed Bei Chi any food because, firstly, he seemed energetic enough, and secondly, she feared he might not digest it.
Thinking of zombies’ appetites, they would eat raw stuff, so probably nothing they can’t digest.
So now Chuzheng decided to feed him some food.
Chuzheng asked Xiaoyu for some biscuits, broke them into small pieces, grabbed Bei Chi’s jaw, and put them in his mouth.
Seeing Chuzheng’s rough manner, Xiaoyu suddenly felt a bit sympathetic towards that zombie gentleman...
"Guh!"
Bei Chi tried to push the biscuits out with his tongue.
"Swallow it!" Chuzheng held down his jaw, forbidding him to spit: "If you dare to spit it out, I’ll beat you to death!"
Bei Chi: "Guh guh guh guh!!"
Xiaoyu wasn’t sure if it was her illusion, but she felt the zombie gentleman looked quite aggrieved.
No matter what, girls always feel a sense of pity when the other party shows weakness, and Xiaoyu was no different: "Boss... does he not like eating this?"
"Otherwise, should he eat you?" Chuzheng turned to look at her.
Xiaoyu shrank into the corner, meekly responding: "Better to eat the biscuit then."
She’s not tasty!
Bei Chi clearly hated the biscuit, with rejection written all over him, but whether it was fear of Chuzheng or something else, he genuinely didn’t spit it out, gulping it down whole.
"He can eat," Chuzheng broke off another piece.
Bei Chi: "..."
Bei Chi grinned and suddenly lunged towards Chuzheng.
Chuzheng squinted her eyes, her hand that was about to pull away stayed right there: "Just try biting me."
Chuzheng felt his teeth on her skin, even sinking in slightly, but they soon stopped.
Bei Chi’s gray eyes sneakily glanced at Chuzheng, like a cat caught in the act, peeking to see if its human was watching.
Chuzheng stared at him, expressionless and eerie, clearly an owner not to be trifled with.
Bei Chi retracted his teeth, suddenly extending his tongue to lick the back of Chuzheng’s hand.
Chuzheng: "..."
Holy hell! Are you a dog? Aren’t you disgusted?
"No licking!" Chuzheng pushed his forehead away with her fingers.
"Guh guh!" Not allowed to eat, not allowed to lick, this human is so bothersome!
Ugh... human... what is a human?
Bei Chi’s mind was muddled, only occasionally flashing some odd words.
Bei Chi shook his head, his nose gently sniffing at the back of her hand, his teeth sometimes baring.
Want to bite...
So fragrant...
So hungry...
But she’s so fierce.
Zhi Kai opened the car door, just in time to see this scene; startled, he let out an ’ah’ and instinctively grabbed something nearby, swinging it at Bei Chi.
"What are you doing?"
Chuzheng reached out to block, the hit landed on her arm — not very painful, but a bit numb.
Zhi Kai: "!!!" Why did the boss shield him!
Zhi Kai, after hitting Chuzheng, was a bit flustered, swallowing hard and pointing at Bei Chi, his words coming out incoherently: "I thought he he he..."
"It’s okay," Chuzheng shook off her hand.
Zhi Kai stared at Bei Chi, who was still gently sniffing Chuzheng’s hand, occasionally baring teeth, looking as if he might bite down at any moment.
Zhi Kai’s heart raced, but the boss allowed him to stay close, unfazed.
Well... the boss is indeed a boss.
Zhi Kai clutched his heart, quickly shut the car door.
Sorry, he couldn’t quite handle it.
Isn’t training pets about letting them familiarize themselves with your scent? So, the boss really treats that zombie as a pet?
"..."
The boss’s hobbies are so peculiar.
-
Zhao Yingjun and Ah Yi returned with water, although not much; the reservoir in the water plant didn’t have much either. To share it among so many people, everyone’s quantity was surely limited.
"If we conserve a bit, it should last us two or three days."
The known routes of virus transmission now are being bitten or scratched by infected zombies, and through water.
Most outside water is undrinkable.
Now we can still find some clean water, but later on...
No one knew what to do deep down, without water, how could they survive!
"Who knows what will happen in the future." Ah Yi sighed.
"Maybe experts at the base will come up with a cure, don’t worry too much," Zhi Kai reassured.
"And what if they can’t develop one?" Xiao Gong wondered.
"..."
"Then we still have to find a way to live on." Zhi Kai tapped Xiao Gong’s forehead: "You can’t just choose to die, right?"
Xiao Gong: "When there’s no water left, what’s the difference from dying? At that point, zombies might be better."
"..."
Zhi Kai took a deep breath, not wanting to argue with the kid.
Maybe feeling the topic was too heavy, no one wanted to continue much longer, quickly switching topics.
After chatting for a while, Zhi Kai looked curiously towards the front of the convoy: "Why aren’t we moving yet?"
They, being at the very back, had already fetched water. Could people at the front still not have gotten water?
But everyone should be back in their cars?
As Zhi Kai wondered, the convoy began to move.
But the convoy didn’t get far, suddenly stopping again, followed by a commotion coming from the front.
"What’s going on? Did they encounter zombies?" Ah Yi asked nervously.
"Doesn’t seem like it..."
"Brother Kai, look at the sky, something seems off!" Zhao Yingjun watched the sky ahead.
It had a gray haziness, like rain was falling.
Yet on their side, the sun was blazing...
"Head back to the water plant."
"What?"
Chuzheng repeated: "If you don’t want to die, head back to the water plant."
"..."
Though they didn’t know why the boss was saying this, she was definitely right.
Zhi Kai immediately turned around, their car was the last one, making it easy to turn. The cars ahead seeing their turn, combined with the unclear commotion at the front, followed suit, turning around and joining them.
Within the convoy, people started fleeing towards the rear through gaps, as if something was chasing them.
The last cars could quickly turn and escape, but those blocked in couldn’t turn around, and due to the crowd, it wasn’t easy to exit through the doors.
The water plant wasn’t far from them, Chuzheng’s car arrived first.
Chuzheng unfastened Bei Chi’s seatbelt, dragged him out, and shouted to the people in the car: "Grab useful things, go inside."
The others acted swiftly, grabbing a few backpacks, soon following Chuzheng inside.
The water plant was composed of single-story buildings, connected in a semi-circular shape, with different rooms inside.
Chuzheng picked a room and settled Bei Chi in first.
The people following behind also hurriedly came in.
"Why were we running?" once inside, someone asked, puzzled.
"Weren’t those people running?"
"Were there zombies?"
"...don’t know."
Everyone looked at one another.
