Let’s Squander A Billion First!
Chapter 2153: Mr. Zombie (12)
Chapter 2153: Chapter 2153: Mr. Zombie (12)
This incident did not attract much attention from the group. The rain outside kept pouring, and the zombies showed no sign of leaving.
The people outside gradually found places to sit, forming different small groups.
Although they traveled together, the vigilance towards each other was deep.
During meal times, they ate with their backs turned to others; no one flaunted their food to avoid provoking envy.
The rain continued unabated into the night, and they took turns on watch, keeping an eye on the zombies outside.
In the latter part of the night, a commotion suddenly arose outside.
It seemed the wife of the man who asked for anti-inflammatory medicine today was going into labor.
The man was frantically asking if anyone knew how to deliver a baby.
There truly was a doctor among them, though not an obstetrician. However, despite their lack of expertise, doctors generally know more about such matters than people in other professions.
But when the doctor approached, he found the woman’s face deathly pale, exhibiting obvious signs of zombification, clearly bitten.
The doctor recoiled in fear, pointing at the woman, "She’s infected!"
As soon as those words were spoken, the eyes of the surrounding spectators immediately changed.
There were expressions of horror, shock, disbelief, and anger.
There was actually a zombie among their team!
"What’s your motive? Hiding a zombie!"
"Kill her!"
"Is that guy crazy? With so many of us here, what if someone gets bitten? Can he handle the consequences?"
"How can there still be such selfish people?"
"I thought it was strange before, wrapped up like that..."
"Kill her! We can’t keep her; she’ll endanger everyone!"
"Right!"
Seeing more and more people in the crowd agreeing, some were ready to make a move.
Initially, they hesitated to harm zombies, but after many experiences, they clearly understood that if they didn’t kill the zombies, they would be the ones to die.
Those zombies were no longer human; they were monsters, demons crawling out of Hell.
The man blocked the woman, "She’s different from other zombies; she knows who I am and has never attacked me! She still has a child in her womb; you can’t kill her!"
-
Chuzheng approached, Jin Ling was at the center of the crowd, trying to persuade both sides.
The man defended the woman fiercely, holding a gun in his hand, which was why those people dared not make a move.
In the whole group, there should be people with such weapons. It wasn’t a critical moment yet, so no one was willing to reveal their trump card.
Jin Ling said, "She does seem harmless; why don’t we let her give birth first? The child is innocent."
Someone expressed dissatisfaction, "She herself is a zombie; can the child be normal?"
Jin Ling: "A child, whether it is or not, we’ll know after it’s born..."
"No! I don’t agree! He must take this woman and leave here!"
"I don’t agree either."
"I... I also don’t agree; it’s too dangerous, I don’t want to die."
It’s raining outside, and there are zombies; leaving here is no different from sending him to his death.
But most of them agreed that they didn’t have to kill the woman; they could leave themselves.
Jin Ling wanted to say more but ultimately succumbed to the majority’s opinion and remained silent.
"You... how can you all be like this? She won’t hurt people; she is still conscious, she’s just sick!" The man shouted in despair.
The crowd averted their gaze from the man.
They had encountered and heard of too many incidents where bitten individuals were hidden, resulting in irreversible damage.
The man protected his wife, but they also had relatives they needed to protect; they couldn’t take on such a risk.
Thus, it’s hard to say who’s right or wrong.
"You, come with me."
Just as the man was in despair, a voice suddenly rang out.
The man looked up to see a girl standing there with her hands in her pockets, calmly looking at him.
She lacked the fear and anger in the crowd’s eyes.
The man trembled, pointing at himself.
Chuzheng nodded, with a cold "Mm" sound.
Jin Ling looked at Chuzheng in astonishment; she wasn’t dead.
After their previous farewell, Jin Ling thought this girl was surely dead, but unexpectedly, she survived!
To not die in such a situation...
Considering her wicked deeds, Jin Ling felt guilty and dared not confront Chuzheng, retreating a few steps into the crowd.
"What do you want to do? His wife is a zombie; you want to keep her?"
Chuzheng: "Don’t worry, she won’t bite you."
"You say she won’t bite, so she won’t? Who do you think you are? We don’t agree to keep her. If you want to meddle, you leave with them!"
"Right!"
"Fine, whoever wins decides," Chuzheng’s gaze swept over the crowd, "Who wants to go first?"
"..."
Chuzheng suddenly came up with this, catching them all off guard, and no one spoke for the moment.
They wanted to reason, she wanted to use fists—how was that fair?
"No one? Then there’s no objection..."
"I’ll do it!"
A man stepped out from the group, glaring at Chuzheng, spat, thinking he can’t beat a yellow-haired brat?
The man clenched his wrist, "Don’t say I bully women if you lose."
Chuzheng extended her hand, palm up, fingers beckoning him to come over.
The man felt there was nothing noteworthy about a little girl, so he rolled up his sleeves and went straight at her.
The space suddenly went quiet, except for the urgent sound of rain outside.
The man froze one meter away from Chuzheng, his fist raised in mid-air as if his acupuncture point had been pressed.
At his forehead, a dark muzzle was pointed.
It was none other than Chuzheng holding the weapon.
The man’s face turned grim, "You have a gun!"
"I never said I didn’t," Chuzheng replied calmly.
"!!!" The man’s voice rose, "That’s cheating!"
Chuzheng’s tone remained flat, "I only said that whoever wins decides; I never said how to win."
Thus, her use of a weapon was completely reasonable.
The man’s mouth nearly spewed blood; this damn girl was utterly intentional.
With such a weapon in her hand, there was no way he could be confident about taking the weapon from her or subduing her before she fired.
Chuzheng shifted the weapon, sweeping it across the people present: "Now, does anyone have any objections?" I’m giving you a chance to see my mighty treasure.
[...]The young lady’s introverted boldness is becoming increasingly speechless.
"..."
Everyone feared death; a firearm was not something they could tackle bare-handed, and those with weapons were unwilling to come forward.
After all, they hadn’t been threatened at this moment.
People are like this, when their own interests aren’t harmed, they choose to be mere spectators.
Chuzheng took the man into the room; outside remained quiet for a while, then slowly people began to discuss.
"Who is that girl?"
"Don’t know... She was already in the water plant when I arrived."
"She seems to be the one who joined at the last moment with the convoy..."
"Isn’t she part of our team?"
"Definitely not, I’ve never seen her."
"If she’s not part of our team, what’s she doing here?"
