Chapter 96 Pick Your Side
(An: Sorry for not releasing the chapter today, but I wasn’t expecting that it would automatically set a minimum of two privileged chapters, and I was too late to notice that, sorry about that.)
The large dragon stood still in the middle of extensive green grasslands, his large reverse-slitted eyes looking at the unmoving mech with the shiny chromed form factor.
‘Can I use this metal junk for something… all of its circuits must be fried… This thing wasn’t strongest, but if this is supposed to be a regular trash level dungeon mob moving in groups, that will be a problem.’
Vesuvius wasn’t naive to believe that he could just fly and bomb them from the sky without them having any ranged weapons.
‘A civilisation capable of creating such machines had to have ranged weapons.’
His gaze fell at the glass-like blue sphere that was still pulsing in dimmed down blue light, ‘This looks like it still works whatever it is.’
The dragon brought out his giant claw glowing with runes and pierced through the metallic chassis of the constructs, his long claw piercing through the metal plates like a can opener thought… well, can.
Then he flicked it, and the blue ball the size of a coconut popped out, rolling through the green grass.
‘What is this?’

‘Generator? Can I power something with it?’ Vesuvius wasn’t an engineer and never really cared about the crafting aspect of the LOMM, so he had no idea what to do with the generator.
‘I can grab it and later find out what can be done with it. I will rather take it than regret later that I left something cool here.’
A loud sound of weird humming that was very close to that helicopter at a high pitch came from the skies catching the dragon’s attention.
A flying object the size of at least two eagles put next to each other was streaking across the sky at an immense speed, its shiny surface shining in the reflected light. It was composed of a triangular hull with two circles attached to it. Two large blue, glowing rotors made out of crystals were spinning in the two circles attached to the triangular hull. A large spherical core glowed in its center, pulsing at a high frequency.
A large long metallic rod was sticking out of a metallic knuckle on the bottom side of the hull, with a large blue crystal glowing on its tip. Two other large crystals were sticking from behind it, blue pulses spreading through the air around them.
The humming kept getting louder and louder, its frequency slowing down as the weird drone hovered above the dragon.
Then a blue light radiated out of it, passing through the ground, stopping when it reached the dragon and the destroyed mech. The blue crystal on the rod started to violently pulse in blue light and throw sparks around it.
A large spherical projectile of violently unstable blue plasma launched out of the weird rod weapon, blasting through the air and leaving behind a blue smooth. Immediately the frequency of the humming sound increased as the drone accelerated, vanishing on the horizon as suddenly as it arrived.
‘So this is why it became so passive in the middle of the fight while making these weird modem-like sounds… it called an air support?’
If Vesuvius was in the air, he would likely be able to dodge it, but as he was on the ground, his mobility was reduced, making him unable to avoid it.
The projectile flew at incredible speed. The unstable plasma that it was composed of was throwing blue sparks as it flew.
The blue plasma projectile impacted against the hard volcanic armour and exploded in a large explosion of blue plasma. All the grass in proximity immediately evaporated under the flesh of blue light accompanied by a wave of heat. The plasma hit the black stone with trails of golden colour, its immense temperature blazing against it in a blue inferno.
An instant later, the blue plasma from the explosion dissipated, revealing a circle of orange glowing melted stone on the dragon’s stone armour, with the surrounding black stone glowing in red.
The dragon immediately exploded with laughter, a shockingly loud sound of laughter spreading through the green fields, “Hahaha, to use some plasma-based thermal weapons against a volcano dragon… that is simply best. What are you going to do? Create even more lava for me?”
He had no affinity with plasma, but it was still an element connected to fire and magma, making him highly resistant to it.
Vesuvius shook his large scaled head, ‘Well, enough of this… I should probably start clearing this dungeon.’
The dragon flapped his large wings, rising from the ground and sending dark smoke in all directions. His eyes fell upon a light show of red and blue flashing in the distance. He flapped his large wings again, launching into the distance like a rocket, leaving behind a thick trail of smoke.
He blasted through the air, each flap of his wings causing electricity to crackle around him, the light in the distance getting brighter as he kept closing towards them.
Two groups of mechs, one’s eyes glowing red and the second’s in blue, kept fighting on the open green planes. Dozens of shiny mechs were swinging their blue-glowing plasma blades against mechs holding large metallic weapons with their edges glowing in red. The weapons kept impacting against each other in the inhumanly looking battle, consistently hitting at optimal angles without any indecisiveness. Blue and red sparks were flying everywhere, accompanied by loud banging sounds and flying metal parts.
Large barrages of blue plasma projectiles and red glowing metal slugs kept blasting through the battlefield, impacting all over the ground and exploding, soil flying everywhere under the impacts of red slugs and large swatches of grass vanishing under the heat of the blue plasma.
Lines of mechs stood on each side of the battlefield behind the violently fighting mechs with melee weapons, their shiny polished plates reflecting their colourful gunfire and sunlight. Each of them was either holding blue rod weapons with large blue crystals on its tip or square-shaped weapons with red glowing crystals evenly spread along its whole length, accelerating metallic projectiles to supersonic speeds, causing loud bangs.

//Dungeon objective discovered.
Objective: Help one side to win the war.

‘Well, this is an easy pick… the plasma weapons are definitely much less dangerous to me than these weird magitech railguns, so I guess I will help the red ones? Also, I think I have already started a conflict with the blue ones… This creates a question on its own… will the red ones attack me too after seeing me fighting against the blue ones?’
Suddenly Vesuvius realised something, causing his eyes to glint in dim magical light. ‘So this is likely why this dungeon is such low level, even with the huge metal giants… I don’t have to fight everything by myself.’
