Chapter 439 - 416: Mortal Godslayer (Pseudo)! Reputation System
Chapter 439: Chapter 416: Mortal Godslayer (Pseudo)! Reputation System
He gasped for breath, each inhalation sending a wave of tearing pain through his entire body.
The dark-gold Dragon Scales had long since faded, revealing skin as pale as paper, riddled with countless fine, weeping fissures.
His clothes were in tatters. The wound on his left shoulder, where the Dissociation Technique had grazed him, still emanated an ominous, ashen aura.
The light of the Primordial Core within him had grown exceedingly dim, as if it had exhausted all its Energy, leaving only the barest warmth needed to sustain his life.
Waves of weakness crashed against his consciousness, yet the hand gripping his sword hilt remained steady. His eyes, though weary, were still sharp.
Though his life was not in danger, he was a spent force.
Just as he was trying to calm the turmoil in his body...
A voice.
It was as faint as a whisper, yet it seemed to ignore all space and distance, echoing clearly in his mind. And...
...it seemed to reverberate deep in the hearts of every being on the continent capable of Perception.
"Human..."
The voice belonged to none other than Corellon.
It was calm and distant, carrying a hint of an indescribable...
Admiration?
"I acknowledge your Power. And your name..."
Roland’s brow furrowed. Fighting through his weakness, he strained to spread his Perception—sluggish from exhaustion—outward like a spiderweb.
’Nothing...’
Within a radius of several miles, apart from the lingering embers and chaotic torrents of Energy, he could not detect the faintest trace of Corellon’s vast Divine Attribute.
He had indeed vanished, at least on the physical plane.
After a moment of silence, Roland spoke his name softly into the empty air.
"Roland."
"Very good... Roland..."
Corellon’s voice sounded again, as if savoring the name itself.
"...A truly fine name."
After a brief silence, the voice continued, its tone like a public proclamation.
"And so, you, Roland, have by mortal Power defeated a ’Pseudo-God’ in this battle."
"I look forward to... the opportunity to meet you again, at some point in the future."
"Then, I hope you will bring... more surprises."
The voice trailed off and dissipated, as if it had never been there at all.
Yet, the moment the voice completely vanished, an elderly Surface Elf who had just recovered from his shock and was about to help a companion froze mid-motion.
He raised his wrinkled hands in disbelief, feeling... in the air...
...the incredibly familiar, yet so long absent, lively and docile Magic Elements surging like a tide back into his long-parched Magic Circuits.
"Ma... Magic Power..."
he stammered, his voice trembling with excitement.
Not far away, a young Elf Warrior subconsciously held out a hand. A faint but steady halo of emerald-green Natural Energy sparked to life at his fingertips.
More and more of the surviving Surface Elves, whether Warriors or Casters, began to notice the crystal-clear connection between themselves and the web of Magic being re-established.
The once-dormant Magic Elements in the air were now more active and abundant than ever, as if the invisible shackles suppressing them had been utterly shattered by the defeat of Corellon’s avatar and his subsequent proclamation.
Confusion, shock, and then... elation.
A thrum of something lost and now regained, a feeling originating from the very instinct of their bloodline, began to surge in the heart of every Surface Elf.
At the same time, another Power—more subtle, yet carrying a bone-chilling cold and an aura of deep Darkness—
—slithered silently across the battlefield like a homing serpent under unseen guidance, plunging precisely into Avril, who had just struggled to her feet and was still unsteady.
"Ugh!"
Avril let out a short, muffled groan as her body shuddered violently.
A long-absent, familiar, yet heart-pounding sense of Power surged through her like a flash flood, instantly filling her entire being and washing away the weakness and emptiness left by the battle and the Stripping of her Divine Favor.
She stared down at her hands in disbelief.
Her fingers, which had grown gaunt from her loss of Power, were now trembling slightly.
It was not from weakness, but from the thrill of that surging Power regained, and...
...a complex awe, deeply rooted in her instincts, for this gift from Rose.
Then, an even more wondrous change occurred.
She felt a vigorous, almost tyrannical wave of Life Energy pour into her along with the Divine Favor, swiftly healing all the hidden injuries and weariness left by her premature aging.
She subconsciously raised her hand, her fingertips trembling almost imperceptibly, and gently touched her face, which was hidden under heavy fabric.
The texture...
It was no longer the rough, wrinkled, aged skin she remembered, but had regained its former firmness, smoothness, and elasticity.
Her heart began to pound at the discovery.
The Elf Maiden abruptly reached up and, in a fluster, tore off the large hood of the cloak that had kept her completely concealed, exposing her face to the open air.
Without even bothering to straighten her messy brown hair, she hurried over to Roland, who had just pushed himself to his feet with his sword and whose face was still deathly pale.
Her eyes were filled with urgency, anxiety, and a sliver of incredulous hope. But upon seeing Roland’s wretched state, she cast her intended question aside and spoke with alarm.
"Roland? Roland! Are you all right?"
And at that same moment, on the edge of the battlefield, Galvis was also trembling with excitement, just as ecstatic as the others were about the restoration of their Power or the return of their Magic Power.
