Journey to Become the Zenith
Chapter 498: The Pinnacle of Moon Edge Style [Part 2]
The Pinnacle of Moon Edge Style [Part 2]
Crack.
Crack.
Crack.
Thin fractures spread across the stone beneath Eddy’s feet.
They crept outward in every direction, branching and twisting like the legs of a spider. Within seconds, the solid ground beneath him looked as though it had been struck by a hammer from below.
Evelyne instinctively took a step back.
Her eyes remained fixed on Eddy.
She could feel it.
The pressure around him was growing heavier by the second.
Then Eddy moved.
His sword flashed through the air as he slashed toward Fean.
Evelyne’s eyes widened.
The distance between the two men was at least ten meters.
There was no way an ordinary sword could reach that far.
The blade wasn’t nearly long enough.
Diana’s gaze sharpened as well.
For one brief moment, the two women thought the exact same thing.
Had Eddy made a mistake?
The slash should have fallen short.
There was simply too much distance between them.
But then—
Fean suddenly moved.
His body twisted sharply to the left.
His left arm came up.
His posture changed instantly, as though he had sensed something approaching from that side.
Evelyne froze.
Her brows drew together.
Why had he moved like that?
Eddy was clearly attacking from the opposite direction.
The sword had been swung toward Fean’s right side.
Yet Fean had reacted as if something were coming at him from his left.
Then the answer appeared.
An invisible force tore through the air.
It struck Fean.
His body jerked violently.
The impact was unmistakable.
Evelyne’s breath caught.
So did Diana’s.
That sword had reached him.
Without the blade ever physically touching him.
Eddy didn’t pause.
The moment the attack connected, he shifted his sword.
He drew it closer to his chest.
His fingers slid along the hilt.
Then his grip changed.
The sword turned in his hand.
The blade was now positioned completely differently.
It was ready for another movement.
Another attack.
Evelyne stared at him.
She still hadn’t seen the sword leave its position properly.
Just like before, there had been no obvious motion that explained what had happened.
She had only seen the result.
The attack.
The impact.
Fean’s reaction.
But there was no doubt anymore.
Eddy had attacked with his sword.
And somehow, that attack had crossed the distance between them.
Fean tried to defend himself.
His arm moved.
His stance shifted.
But his defense had already been broken.
The force of the attack sent him stumbling backward.
One foot scraped against the stone.
His balance wavered.
For the first time during the battle, his center of gravity was completely out of place.
That animal-like stance of his had always made him terrifying to fight.
Every movement had been low and controlled.
His feet remained firmly planted.
Even when he attacked, he seemed ready to change direction at any moment.
But now that stability was gone.
Eddy had disrupted his entire rhythm with a single strike.
And he wasn’t going to let Fean recover.
He stepped forward.
One stride.
Then another.
His footsteps were calm.
Almost casual.
But the distance between them disappeared with frightening speed.
Fean tried to steady himself.
He barely had the chance.
Something changed around Eddy.
At first, Evelyne thought her eyes were playing tricks on her.
The air seemed to ripple.
Eddy’s figure blurred.
Then—
There were two of him.
Evelyne’s eyes widened.
Before she could even process what she was seeing, the second figure shifted.
A third appeared.
Then a fourth.
Then a fifth.
Six.
Seven.
Seven figures now stood around Fean.
They weren’t simple afterimages.
Each one looked almost identical.
Each held a sword.
Each seemed ready to strike.
Evelyne’s pupils contracted.
She stared at the seven figures in disbelief.
Diana said nothing.
But the seriousness in her eyes deepened.
Neither woman dared to take their eyes off the scene.
Evelyne swallowed.
Her voice came out barely above a whisper.
"Clones?"
That was her first thought.
The figures looked too real.
Yet surely they couldn’t all be real.
Perhaps they were afterimages created by impossible speed.
That had to be it.
At least, that was what Evelyne initially believed.
Then the seven figures attacked.
From different directions.
At different angles.
One attacked from the front.
Another from the side.
Another appeared behind Fean.
The remaining figures closed in from every direction.
Fean desperately tried to defend himself.
His body twisted.
His arms moved.
His feet shifted.
But there were simply too many attacks.
Evelyne’s expression changed.
Those weren’t mere afterimages.
They were moving independently.
They had substance.
Each one could attack.
Each one could force Fean to defend.
The seven figures surrounded Fean completely.
For the first time, Fean’s animal-like stance was thoroughly broken.
His movements became chaotic.
He stumbled.
His balance disappeared.
He tried to regain his footing, but another attack forced him to move again.
Then another.
And another.
The seven Eddys continued their assault.
Every strike pushed Fean farther away from stability.
His defensive posture collapsed completely.
He was being forced to react rather than fight.
Eddy watched calmly.
This was exactly what he wanted.
Once the opponent’s senses were confused, the guard broken, and the stance destroyed, the final strike would become almost unavoidable.
Eddy stopped.
The seven figures seemed to converge.
Then a massive amount of mana erupted from him.
The surrounding air trembled.
Mana surged toward his sword.
It gathered around the blade with increasing density, wrapping the weapon in a brilliant layer of concentrated energy.
The pressure became so great that cracks spread farther across the ground.
Evelyne’s hair fluttered violently from the force.
Even the surrounding dust was pushed away.
Eddy continued channeling.
He didn’t release the energy immediately.
He waited.
More.
More.
Until the amount of mana gathered around the sword reached a sufficient level.
Then Eddy swung the sword downward.
The blade descended.
The accumulated power erupted.
Fean’s body was swallowed by the attack.
For an instant, his entire figure became obscured by the overwhelming force.
Then his body began to disintegrate.
Not merely cut.
Not merely wounded.
Disintegrated.
The flesh broke apart under the enormous force of the sword.
The technique had reached its conclusion.
That was the Moon Edge Style’s final form.
It was a series of moves that made defending practically impossible.
Moon Edge Style (final form) first stance [Earth], was used to confuse the opponent’s senses.
Moon Edge Style (final form) second stance [Heaven], was used to break the opponent’s guard.
Moon Edge Style (final form) third stance [Unity], was used to break the opponent’s stance.
Moon Edge Style (final form) last stance [Eternal Moon], this move was another variation of [Silver Sword], a move used by the hero Mayank, another one of Victor’s past incarnations and Eddy’s past life.
[Silver Sword] was a move that gathered every ounce of mana you had into your weapon and unleashed a final strike.
[Eternal Moon] was a weaker version of that. Instead of pouring all your mana into a final move, this move was made to control the output, so that you won’t faint after one usage.
