Journey to Become the Zenith
Chapter 499: Why Did You Stop My Battle?!
Why Did You Stop My Battle?!
Victor had lost consciousness for a second.
It was only a single instant.
For an ordinary person, such a moment would have meant nothing. A blink. A breath. A brief darkness between two thoughts.
But for Victor, that single instant was enough.
Within that fleeting second, Eddy took control of his body.
And the moment that happened, Victor’s consciousness was dragged once again into the strange realm hidden deep within his soul—a place inhabited by the remnants of his countless past incarnations.
The transition was abrupt.
One moment, Victor had been standing in the middle of battle, his body pushed beyond its limits and his blood still burning with the thrill of combat.
The next, his surroundings vanished.
The sounds of battle disappeared.
The pressure of the battlefield disappeared.
Even the sensation of his wounded body disappeared.
Victor opened his golden eyes.
The familiar spiritual realm stretched before him, quiet and vast, its atmosphere carrying an ancient weight that seemed to exist outside the flow of ordinary time.
He immediately understood what had happened.
His face darkened.
Then his expression twisted with fury.
Again.
It had happened again.
Victor’s hands clenched so tightly that his fingernails dug into his palms.
This was the second time he had been denied the end of a battle.
The first time, he could still force himself to accept it.
That situation had been beyond his control. His body had reached its absolute limit, and the circumstances had forced another incarnation to take over.
But this time?
This time Eddy had possessed his body without even asking.
And worse—
It had happened right in the middle of a fight.
Victor’s chest rose and fell heavily.
He had been enjoying that battle.
No.
Enjoying wasn’t enough to describe it.
He had been alive.
Every strike, every wound, every moment where death had come within reach had made his blood burn hotter. His instincts had screamed at him to continue. His body had been battered, his strength had been pushed to its limits, and yet he had wanted more.
He wanted to see how far the enemy could go.
He wanted to know whether he could overcome an opponent who refused to fall.
And then, just as the battle reached the point where his excitement had reached its peak, someone had taken his body away from him.
Again.
Victor’s teeth ground together.
"WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT!"
His roar exploded through the spiritual realm.
The sound reverberated through the vast space, carrying all the frustration he had accumulated over recent events.
He was no longer able to contain it.
Too much had happened.
Too many things had piled on top of one another.
First, Nezzard had fled with his Spirit Rulers after getting Victor excited for a battle.
Then Victor had been denied the ending of his battle with Evelyne.
And now, before he could finish another fight, Eddy had taken control of his body.
The pressure that had been building inside him finally snapped.
Golden light erupted around Victor.
His appearance changed instantly.
His human form twisted beneath a surge of overwhelming power, and in the next moment, Victor had transformed into his Anos form.
The spiritual realm trembled beneath his feet.
His eyes burned with fury.
He didn’t care that he was facing his own past incarnations.
He didn’t care about the difference in power.
At this moment, he simply wanted an answer.
Victor lowered his body.
His muscles tensed.
The air around him distorted.
He was about to attack.
But before he could move—
An iron grip seized him.
One of his past incarnations had already reacted.
Victor’s body jerked violently as the incarnation restrained him from behind.
"Let me go!"
Victor twisted fiercely.
The spiritual pressure surrounding his Anos form erupted like a storm.
He struggled.
He tried to break the grip.
He twisted his shoulders, kicked backward, pushed with all the strength his body could muster, and even attempted to forcefully release his spiritual energy.
Nothing worked.
The hand holding him remained completely unmoved.
Victor’s eyes widened.
"Damn it!"
He struggled harder.
But the difference between him and his past incarnations was simply too enormous.
They shared the same soul, yet their current levels of power were worlds apart.
To Victor, their grip felt like an unbreakable chain.
No matter how violently he struggled, he couldn’t escape.
The spiritual realm shook with every movement, but the incarnation holding him remained perfectly steady.
Victor continued fighting against the restraint for several moments.
His breathing became heavier.
His anger slowly burned down from a raging inferno into a hot, suffocating ember.
Eventually, he stopped.
His shoulders rose and fell.
The golden light around him gradually weakened.
Victor closed his eyes and exhaled through his nose.
There was no point.
He couldn’t win this way.
Slowly, his Anos form disappeared.
His body returned to its human appearance.
Victor stood there with his black hair falling around his face, his golden eyes still filled with irritation.
His black leather pants and black shirt remained beneath his golden jacket, though his clothes looked almost strangely ordinary compared to the immense spiritual realm surrounding him.
He rubbed his wrist after the grip was finally released.
Then he looked directly at his past incarnations.
His anger had not disappeared.
If anything, now that he had regained control of himself, the emotion had become more focused.
"Why the f*ck did you guys intervene!"
His voice echoed through the realm.
Victor’s jaw tightened.
"Are you guys my nannies?!"
There was a slight pause.
He stared at them with an expression that was almost incredulous.
"Surely you people should understand this thirst that I feel!"
His voice grew louder.
"The excitement I get as I delved deeper into battle!"
His fingers curled into fists again.
"If it’s you people, the ones who share the same soul as mine, then you should understand my deep desire for battle!"
Victor’s eyes trembled.
"The longing I have to fight against powerful opponents, which consumes my very existence!"
His voice cracked slightly at the end.
