It's Perfectly Normal for my Slime to beat up a Dragon, Right?
Ch. 333 - I, Chen Shu, Have Always Hated Two Kinds of People
New Novel - Read Here
The instant the Slime swallowed the Disguise Potion.
Every contract spirit on the drill ground's expression changed — filling with confusion and incomprehension as they stared at the Slime.
"Goo-gii! Goo-gii!"
The Slime, however, didn't hesitate in the slightest. It immediately activated its [Charge] skill.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Its enormous body came crashing through, its might absolutely terrifying.
"Huh? What's going on?!"
"Why did my contract spirit just stop?"
"Holy crap, is something wrong? My obedience level is already maxed out."
In that instant, the freshmen all realized something was off.
The Disguise Potion's effect made the Slime appear to be every other contract spirit's closest companion — instinctively, they didn't want to harm it.
But with their masters' commands still in effect, the contract spirits were caught in an impossible dilemma.
The result? Obedience levels plummeted.
If they wanted their contract spirits to attack, they'd need to repeatedly issue commands — and even then, it might not work.
To put it in gaming terms: everyone else was playing with network latency in the thousands — you'd think the server was on another planet — while Chen Shu was the only one with zero ping.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The Slime's eyes were adorably vacant, looking utterly harmless — but when it charged, it was like a rampaging thug.
Several devastating charges back and forth, and dozens of contract spirits went flying, wailing in agony.
At last, one SS-rank contract spirit on the drill ground accepted its master's command and launched an attack on the Slime.
Shhhk! Shhhk!
It was a mountain cat, its entire body gleaming golden-yellow, charging straight at the Slime.
Golden light enveloped its form. Its speed was inconceivably fast — far beyond any Level 9 contract spirit.
Its claws sliced through, actually ignoring the Slime's defense, sending blood spraying!
"Another armor-piercing skill?"
Chen Shu raised an eyebrow, a trace of surprise in his eyes. SS-rank was significantly stronger than even S-rank.
Fortunately, he'd had the foresight to use the Disguise Potion.
If all five hundred contract spirits had unleashed their skills at once, no one could have survived that.
Little Yellow did have level suppression on its side — but the contract spirits on this drill ground had been selected from across the entire nation. They were on a completely different level from Nanjiang City high school students.
If several dozen of those skills had armor-piercing effects, a single round could easily cripple a D-rank Slime.
"So tough! Another annoying defense-type contract spirit."
A female student furrowed her brow tightly. The golden mountain cat was her contract spirit — a pure extreme-offense build. Same-rank contract spirits basically couldn't withstand a single strike from it.
But the blow she'd spent so long setting up hadn't achieved the effect she'd hoped for.
"Trying to run?"
Chen Shu laughed lightly.
"Goo-gii!"
The Slime unleashed [Deterrent Roar], stunning the mountain cat in place just as it was about to flee.
The huskies inside Little Yellow's mouth made their move!
With terrifyingly fast casting speed, they dumped their elemental skills in practically the same instant.
Fireballs, ice spheres, lightning bolts — they came crashing down one after another, hammering the mountain cat's body.
"I've lost..."
The girl clenched her fists, unwillingness filling her eyes.
Her mountain cat did have a skill that could purge negative status effects.
But activating it would generate a shockwave — which might end up hitting the Slime.
So she couldn't command her contract spirit to use it right away.
The Disguise Potion was just too damn disgusting!
The golden mountain cat vanished in a flash, recalled into its Beast Space.
Yet another SS-rank contract spirit eliminated!
"What the hell is going on? This is seriously bizarre!"
Xie Fengyu from Nancang City stared at Chen Shu, shock and uncertainty warring in his eyes.
"A skill? Or some other method?"
Up on the dais, Qin Tian had also realized something wasn't right.
He attempted to have his earth elemental spirit attack the Slime.
But the contract spirit didn't move — it paused for several seconds before even showing a tendency to attack.
"It can even affect me?!"
Qin Tian's expression shook. His earth elemental spirit was his first contract spirit — it had accompanied him for decades. Its obedience was absolutely maxed out. He could control it as easily as moving his own arm.
Yet today, it hadn't executed his command immediately!
Now he understood why all the freshmen were wearing expressions like they were badly constipated.
Wanting to let it out but unable to — it was honestly kind of agonizing.
"Freaking sinister!"
While he was marveling at this, the Slime went on another rampage, directly eliminating several dozen more contract spirits.
"Awooo!"
The two huskies were having the time of their lives, continuously firing off elemental skills without the slightest restraint.
What had been meant as a grand melee had turned into Chen Shu's solo exhibition!
Hundreds of contract spirits just stood there like a bunch of wooden stakes, letting him rampage through them.
"Poop Bro, let's GO! Fight! Fight!"
Wang Jue's grey little bird screeched without pause, looking more excited than if it were fighting personally.
A'Liang's Thunder Ape wasn't idle either — it specially targeted the heavily wounded contract spirits and beat the hell out of them. Ruthless to the extreme.
"Goddammit! They're cursed! I'm out!"
"What the hell is the point of fighting when our contract spirits won't even listen?!"
"I'm pulling out first. This is psychological torture!"
The freshmen's expressions were full of frustration. Finally, unable to endure any longer, they voluntarily recalled their contract spirits.
If it had been a fair and honorable fight, they could have accepted it — even losing would have been fine.
But today's melee felt like the whole thing had been rigged.
Before long, only four contract spirits remained on the field.
The Slime's eyes were adorably vacant. Its gaze fell on the Thunder Ape still on the field. It wiggled its rear, looking like it was itching to try something.
"Don't get any ideas — I'm outta here!"
A'Liang's expression shifted in alarm. He instantly recalled his contract spirit.
The Slime in front of them had gone full berserker mode.
"Poop Monster, why don't you just leave on your own? Don't make me get physical!"
The grey little bird flew overhead, looking down on the Slime.
Its wings bent at an angle — like a human putting their hands on their hips. Bizarre beyond belief.
Chen Shu's expression froze. His gaze locked onto the grey little bird.
Little Yellow and the two huskies stared at it too, as if their brains had short-circuited.
Chen Shu's mouth twitched. "Wang Jue, the teachers were right. Your contract spirit really is good at putting on airs."
"An accident! A complete accident!"
Wang Jue wiped his sweat and immediately recalled the contract spirit into his beast space. That bird had genuinely lost its mind!
"Principal! I want to report Chen Shu for cheating!"
Yu Yi was the first to step forward once again. Though he still felt a twinge of fear toward Chen Shu, his goal was to rally the entire grade's support.
Sure enough, the moment the words left his mouth, others immediately chimed in.
"I want to report him too! That wasn't a fair fight at all!"
"Huaxia Academy has always upheld fairness! Principal, please deliver justice on our behalf!"
"Protest! Protest!"
Up on the dais, Qin Tian's brow furrowed. This situation had suddenly become tricky to handle.
In all these years, nothing like this had ever happened during the freshman exam.
He looked down at the crowd and asked, "Chen Shu, do you have anything to say?"
Chen Shu's expression was utterly composed. He strode boldly straight onto the dais.
Taking the microphone and clearing his throat, he declared:
"I, Chen Shu, have always hated two kinds of people!"[1]
"The first kind — those who play dirty and launch sneak attacks!"
He radiated righteous conviction, looking every bit like a model citizen of impeccable political pedigree. Inwardly, he silently added the second kind:
The second kind — those who won't let me launch sneak attacks!
[1] 平生最讨厌两种人 (píngshēng zuì tǎoyàn liǎng zhǒng rén): Classic Chinese internet meme template from viral Weibo posts (~2015-2017). The speaker declares hatred of two types of people, but the second type is self-contradictory. The most famous version ended mid-sentence: "I've always hated two kinds of people: people who only say half of what they mean..." Chen Shu's unspoken second type: "people who won't let ME do sneak attacks." The comedy comes from the external righteous speech vs. internal bandit logic.
