Chapter 1041 Technique Vs. Technique
[OP: ]
When strong people stand before one another, they do not only look forward to fighting one another, they look forward to the whole experience of clashing against their opponents.
“Axion Heliox Kromat, the magic archer, the eternally lacking student, a learning Partner.”
It was customary for the duel partners to introduce themselves with their names, as well as with three things that described themselves the best.
Though, even if it might sound similar to many other customs from some other places, the unique thing about the customs of north was to say three things that describes one’s battle styles, one’s core characteristic that they have obtained after prolonged contemplation, as well as what one might give their life for if the fated moment arises.
Just receiving the honour to say these things before someone recognized by the world, nature, and the gods was an incredible gift to someone as young as him.
“Luther Edward Heliox, the Cutless sword King, someone who wishes to see what their great nephew has for him, as well as a Heliox.”
He was the guardian of this land, just like his grandmother.
However, unlike her who now has responsibilities of her own and a family to look after, as her younger brother and vice lord of the house, it was up to him to put this land, this homeland of theirs before anything else.
“I look forward to your teachings, great uncle.”
“I’m the one looking forward to the teachings, Axion. Hahaha.”
They were looking forward to the battle… but in order to show each other enough in the short time they had, some rules needed to be established.
“Let us do three Techniques for now, how about it? Show me something that you know I wanna know, and I’ll show you something that, well, might be interesting to you. Is that alright?” Continue your saga on empire
Under the few hours that they had before dinner time, they all wanted to finish their duels.
They were going to try doing it at the very least, so while Eon and his great uncle faced one another, Rein was facing their great aunt, Carla and Alf both faced their elder cousin, and while it seemed quite unfair, Quin, Chry, and the presidents had to face the familiar of their great aunt, the small mouse that had somehow befriended all the Povpoi and was now standing against them with all thirty two of them.
“I’m fine with that, uncle. Though, since I’m the one you’re testing, can I go first?”
This was going to be an exchange of three blows for them, but that wasn’t all there was to this duel.
They were here to see what made them as strong as they were.
It was only natural that they would show them sincerity and show them their powers without holding back.
Limiting their powers to a certain degree was an obvious thing, but they still had to make sure they didn’t disrespect the other’s honour.
“It is only obvious that you go first, young Axion.”
Lord Luthor took out a Cutlass, a curved, one edged sword that the people of the north usually use when they are sailing in the great blue.
Though, the one that he had taken out from his storage device was a little more than just a simple sword.
“A fine weapon, my Lord.”
“Oh? Not calling me ‘great’ uncle anymore, are we?”
The sword was forged from midnight-black metal, a rare material that shimmered with dark, shimmering energy.
Its blade, slightly curved in the manner of classic cutlasses, possessed intricate silver (modern) runes that glowed faintly, pulsing as though alive and in sync with its wielder’s energy.
Along the razor-sharp edge, embedded flecks of white stardust caught the light with every movement, casting a mesmerising glow that hinted at the weapon’s mysterious power.
The hilt was wrapped in dark leather, smooth and sturdy, fitting comfortably in the hand.
The guard curled gracefully, ending in two embedded gemstones, of which, one was a deep emerald and the other one a vibrant sapphire, that pulsed with a faint, mystical glow like the sword itself.
‘These stones… I can tell they are channelling an energy that somehow heightens the wielder’s speed, making every strike they deal faster, making each one of their movements far sharper.’
But its looks weren’t what made this sword unique from many other weapons that the people in this room used.
When the wielder spoke a certain ancient phrase, the blade cloaked itself in a unique curtain, rendering both weapon and bearer invisible for a few precious moments. The effect wasn’t limited to just the physical body, going as far as erasing the very ‘being’ of the bearer.
It was a weapon built for both battle and stealth, a formidable tool that few could wield to its full potential.
“I hope you understand why I cannot use Xi.”
“This is neither the right place nor the right time to use a divine artifact, uncle. I understand it well.”
Just like the divine hammer of his grandfather and the divine scythe of Rein’s grandfather, he also had a unique weapon made only for him, something only he could use.
But it wasn’t something they needed here, for a spar of this casual scale.
“Well then…”
Eon took out Asta and proceeded to gather his Mana and Solnova.
He had many techniques that he could use, many of which were lethal and dangerous.
They were in an indoor training ground made to withstand training of the highest intensity, but he knew using those techniques would still result in damage so, he will avoid them this time.
-Oooooooooooooooong!
He had many other techniques that he could use, and one of them was the Mana technique: Energy arrow.
“Oh my…”
A single arrow of purely concentrated Mana devoid of any other energy was created on the tip of Asta.
To the bystanders, Eon seemed like a mage casting the simplest kind of Mana spell of (tier-1) but in fact, to the mages present, it was obvious that this arrow was not made with a magica spell.
This construct was in fact made purely with Mana without its materialised form.
It was a simple power that resulted from the simplest technique of using the entirety of the energy body that He possessed… a technique that was only made possible due to his unique constitution.
-Ooooooooooooooong…!
He created this technique with his mentor, the divine archer, and he refined it over the last few years.
It was not perfect yet and it was but going to be perfect because of the obvious natural limitations of his body and the energies of the environment that he could not refine from the pure Mana.
For now, he could only make one of these arrows. However…
-Swaaaaaaaaaah!
“Hupp!!”
-Booooooooooooooooom!
To his opponent, it was obvious that this simple looking arrow of energy was nothing less than a (tier-6) spell of the highest grade, or a direct aura attack from a [Rank-5] master.
It was powerful. Too powerful to have come from a boy his age…
“That was quite something, Axion.”
He called upon his original Aura in order to offset this simple attack.
He knew the destructive and piercing power of the attack so, he moulded his Aura into the shape of a tortoise shell.
Since the power contained within this attack was extremely strong in itself, he knew just blocking it was not going to be enough so, he deliberately used that technique which dispersed all of the concentrated energy of attack right at the impact.
He made sure no one around them was affected by the explosion with his defensive technique, surprising Eon and Elle both in the process.
[{ “Did you-.” }]
[{ “Of course I saw that. It’s like an actual being materialised in that instance…” }]
The defensive Aura technique that he used might have seemed simple but it was so complex that all who understood it were actually in awe right now.
[{ “He’s a King for a reason, alright…” }]
He had an extensive knowledge of various arts.
To create Energy Arrow, Eon practised, tried, tested, and improved himself for months and yet he could only master it to this degree.
Yet, seeing that one technique from the highest ranking weapon welder was a reminder to him…
“Now… it’s my turn, right?”
He might be strong, he might be much stronger than his peers, and he might possess an abundance of knowledge but… he was not strong enough.
“I look forward to your teachings.”
He still has a lot to learn. He was not that smart compared to the beings that were watching over him from a great distance. He was also not as strong as even the people around him.
“Of course, nephew Axion.”
-Ooooooooooooong!
The one he was facing was a being personifying the vast blue. The weapon he wielded was the soul weapon of the ones who have dedicated their lives to the greatest of water bodies.
He was a strong individual. And his Aura was even stronger.
[{ *This is dangerous, master.* }]
When he was faced with the insurmountable pressure coming from the seemingly harmless looking sword, he understood blocking this attack was not going to be possible.
He must avoid it.
However, to even simply avoid this attack, he would have to constantly move his body to a location where the Aura density was least and he must do that in a span of mere seconds.
From what he could tell, from what Lucy gathered by analysing the energy pattern of this attack, it was obvious this was no simple attack.
The offensive power might be low, but it was going to cover the entire area around him with many layers of Aura.
And… since the very nature of his Aura was gaseous instead of fluid like his grandpa’s, this matter was concerning for him.
Given the situation he was in, especially, this was not going to be a good thing.
‘Huuuu…’
Thankfully, he had created a movement technique along with his offensive and defensive techniques.
