Investing in My Wife: But She's Already the Strongest!
Chapter 94: Meet
Enzo realized his words had been a mistake when Miya pinched him on the waist.
That was her only response. She didn’t say a word.
Enzo chose to remain silent, pressing his lips together.
In relationships, the rules were often like this: a woman could tease a man without being considered wrong. But if the man teased the woman, that was when he was in trouble.
Miya was no different, and teasing her came with immeasurable consequences if he ever made her angry.
"Honey, what would you like to drink?" Enzo asked once Miya had settled onto the sofa.
Although this house had been given to his family by Miya, legally, it was now their home. As the host, it was his responsibility to prepare drinks and snacks.
"Iced milk coffee with chocolate sprinkles," Miya answered with a faint smile.
She was certainly happy to be served.
Enzo nodded and immediately headed to the kitchen.
He prepared two cups of coffee as Miya had requested and remembered to bring out some of his mother’s homemade cakes as well.
He had only been gone for a short while. When he returned, Miya was sitting with her legs crossed, examining the Bio Silver he had given her.
Her eyes seemed more focused than usual, indicating that something was on her mind.
However, once he appeared, she put the Bio Silver away again.
"This villa is very spacious. My father-in-law and mother-in-law must get tired if they have to take care of everything themselves," she remarked as Enzo sat beside her.
Hearing her refer to his parents as her father-in-law and mother-in-law again made Enzo feel happy, though for some reason, he also found it rather amusing.
"Not entirely. The residential complex management takes care of the cleaning. They can be called over whenever necessary. My parents only do the things they can and want to do themselves," he explained.
"Even so, there must still be plenty of things they eventually have to handle themselves. You should hire a few assistants. That way, my father-in-law and mother-in-law can enjoy a completely relaxed life, where they only need to walk to the dining table when it’s time to eat."
"Unfortunately, they won’t agree. That’s not how they’re used to living." Enzo shook his head, since this wasn’t the first time he’d made such a suggestion.
"They’re accustomed to taking care of everything themselves. They would actually feel uncomfortable having someone else handle their basic needs. Ordinary people tend to be like this unless they’re busy or sick."
"I see. It seems I don’t really understand how ordinary people think." Miya chuckled.
"You don’t have to understand that. Everyone has their own role. Someone born as a princess and later becoming a queen, like you, is naturally meant to be served by attendants," Enzo replied.
"You’re quite good at talking nonsense," Miya remarked.
"Mmm..." Enzo shifted his gaze toward the gate.
A white MPV was approaching. Of course, it was the first car Miya had given his family.
"It seems your younger brother is still informing them about us," Miya said.
"Maybe he just feels uncomfortable letting you wait. Of course, my parents wouldn’t be at ease if they knew either. They still see you as someone far above them," Enzo replied.
"That’s an exaggeration... Come on, let’s welcome them." Miya stood up and walked toward the door.
Enzo hadn’t expected this. He hurried after her.
By the time they reached the entrance, his parents had also gotten out of the car. His father was a middle-aged man with black hair, an upright posture, and a muscular build, while his mother was a beautiful, graceful middle-aged woman with white hair.
Both seemed utterly astonished by the sight of the beautiful woman standing beside their son.
They immediately realized that this was their daughter-in-law, whom they hadn’t even met in person until now.
Considering her identity, they weren’t sure how to react. They couldn’t hide their awkwardness, feeling overwhelmed by her prestigious status.
However, a genuine smile appeared on her face as she looked at them.
"Father, Mother, how have you been?" Miya greeted them in a charming tone.
Enzo’s ears practically twitched upon hearing that.
He had never heard Miya speak so gently before. Even when speaking to her own father, she could be rather harsh.
Paul and Lisa seemed to have trouble processing what they had just heard.
"Mother, you’re even more beautiful than I imagined," Miya continued.
"Umm..." Lisa cleared her throat awkwardly.
"How can you call me beautiful? I’m just an old woman. You’re the truly beautiful one. But Enzo hasn’t made you angry, has he?" she asked.
Her greatest concern, of course, was that Enzo might disappoint his wife, who had already given them so much.
Enzo could only roll his eyes when his mother suddenly brought him into the conversation.
"Of course not. Enzo is a good husband," Miya replied. "I should be thanking you for raising such an admirable son."
Enzo: "..."
His heart was pounding wildly after receiving such praise from Miya.
His father, meanwhile, looked rather embarrassed upon hearing her words.
"How about we go inside first?" Enzo suggested.
Perhaps Miya felt it wasn’t appropriate for her to say that since this was the Muller family’s home.
However, whether it was Paul or Lisa, they might also have felt it wasn’t appropriate for them to say it, considering that Miya had given them this house.
Enzo didn’t find it difficult to suggest it because he and Miya were already so close.
They all entered the house.
"That’s right, you two probably haven’t eaten yet, have you? I’ll prepare dinner," Lisa said to Miya.
"Thank you..." Miya nodded without refusing.
By accepting the offer, she was showing respect to her mother-in-law.
"Just wait a moment..." Lisa immediately hurried toward the kitchen.
Paul remained where he was.
However, he found it more difficult to speak because the person before him was a woman who seemed more suited to interacting with his wife.
"Father..." Miya suddenly called out to him, startling Paul so much that he froze.
"This is my gift to you," Miya said, handing him a ring with a shiny black stone set into it, bearing the faint image of a dragon.
"This?" Paul hesitated to accept it.
"Father, just take it," Enzo said, having no choice but to speak when he understood his father’s hesitation.
"This ring will protect you with my power. So, it will be safer if you wear it. After all, you’re now connected to me, and I’m someone with many enemies. Although few would dare to act against me, it’s still possible that someone might lose control and impulsively attack someone close to me," Miya explained.
She didn’t wait for Paul to accept the ring. Instead, she placed it in front of him so he could pick it up whenever he wished.
However, Paul’s curiosity eventually got the better of him, and he picked it up.
"Oh, right. It also functions as a Storage Ring," Miya added just as Paul was about to speak, presumably to thank her.
Miya certainly didn’t want her father-in-law to thank her too formally for giving him a gift.
In the end, Paul simply nodded and began putting on the ring.
"Is it comfortable?" Miya asked.
"Very comfortable," Paul replied.
His voice was soft, but at least he didn’t say anything that might make Miya feel he was treating her with excessive formality.
Enzo wasn’t entirely comfortable with this situation either.
After thinking for a moment, he stood up.
"I’ll help Mother," he said.
Miya naturally had no objections. She gave a slight nod, as though that was only to be expected.
Enzo soon headed toward the kitchen, occasionally glancing back over his shoulder.
Miya didn’t remain silent either. She tried to strike up a conversation with his father.
When Enzo arrived in the kitchen, he realized just how busy his mother was. She had three stoves going at once.
"Enzo, why are you here? Go keep your wife company," Lisa said immediately.
"Mom, I’ll help you," Enzo replied.
"What about your wife? Are you leaving her alone with your father?"
"Don’t worry, Mom. Miya doesn’t mind. She’s happy when I show you filial respect. By the way, Mom, you’re cooking so much food. How are we going to finish all of it?" Enzo quickly changed the subject.
"It’s fine if we can’t finish it all. We can save the leftovers for later. What’s important is that your wife has plenty of dishes to choose from," Lisa replied.
"Okay, then I’ll help chop the ingredients. Just focus on cooking."
Enzo had experience helping his mother in the kitchen. Even though she was preparing a much larger meal than usual this time, he didn’t find it difficult and immediately knew what he needed to do.
Lisa naturally couldn’t keep refusing him. She sighed before finally turning her attention back to the stove.
With two people working together, everything is, of course, easier and faster.
The delicious aroma of food began to waft from the kitchen.
"Enzo, make us something to drink, too—juice or whatever," Lisa instructed.
