Investing in My Wife: But She's Already the Strongest!
Chapter 65: Ace
"Yes, it’s nice to see my classmates here," the man replied to Erick before looking at Miya, who was still furrowing her brows.
"Miss, ehem, I mean, Lady. My boss has invited you inside. He’s waiting in his office.
"Erick, you can come in too."
"Really? Oliver invited us inside?"
Erick looked extremely surprised.
"Come on, take us there!" Miya said before the bespectacled man could respond to Erick.
Miya’s words sounded more like an order.
He nodded and led the way.
Miya gestured for Enzo and the others to follow.
As they took a step forward, the light emitted by the building suddenly disappeared.
A luxurious and incredibly spacious lobby welcomed them.
Even the reception desk alone was extraordinarily long, and there were numerous elevator doors.
One larger elevator door was guarded by two security guards, and it had already been opened.
The bespectacled man led them into that elevator.
Once they were all inside, it began ascending almost silently, yet incredibly fast, as the floor numbers continued changing.
Enzo, Aaron, and Mr. Joe were all deep in thought, while Miya seemed merely curious about what kind of surprise Oliver was going to give them.
One thing that worried them was the possibility that the man had another trick besides the zombies scattered throughout the city.
DING!
The elevator finally stopped, and the doors opened.
It had taken less than a minute.
Another lobby welcomed them.
There was a secretary sitting behind her desk, along with around ten security guards who looked completely indifferent.
The bespectacled man led them toward a door that opened on its own, revealing a spacious office with a desk at the far end and a large chair turned backward.
The backrest of the chair was also so wide that the person sitting there was completely hidden from view.
Aaron frowned.
Who would dare wait for him with their chair turned backward like that in City Z?
The problem was that it was not just him.
Miya was here too.
Mr. Joe might be a servant, but he was also a Giant.
Even Erick was the head of the CIA’s City Z branch.
They should be treated with respect anywhere in the world, let alone in City Z.
"Please come in!" the bespectacled man said with a faint smile.
Despite the seemingly disrespectful reception, Miya stepped inside with an indifferent expression.
The others followed.
The door then closed.
Only then did the chair turn around.
Enzo and the others were instantly shocked when they saw that there was more than one person sitting there.
One was a man with jet-black hair and a handsome, charismatic face.
And sitting on his lap was an incredibly beautiful young woman with bright blonde hair and extremely fair skin.
The woman leaned against the man’s chest while the latter wrapped an arm around her slender waist and stroked her blonde hair, which looked incredibly smooth.
Alice Howard.
She was not some random woman at all, but the famous actress.
She merely smiled when everyone looked at her.
"Miya, long time no see. You’ve become even more beautiful. Unfortunately, I was busy during your wedding, so I couldn’t attend," the black-haired man said.
"You really gave me quite a surprise," Miya replied.
"Ohhh, how did I surprise you?" the man asked.
"Boy, do you want to die?"
Aaron suddenly interrupted and stepped forward while pulling out a curved red knife shaped like a crescent moon.
He did not release any aura, yet his cold gaze alone made the air turn freezing, colder than winter itself.
"Uncle, why are you so angry? By the way, I’m sorry I couldn’t complete the job you gave me to seduce Lady Stanley’s husband. I tried, but he didn’t seem to find me attractive."
Alice suddenly spoke, nearly making Aaron stumble.
Enzo glanced at the man after hearing this revelation.
So it seemed this woman had indeed been hired, and Aaron had been the one who gave her the job.
Aaron looked at Miya worriedly.
However, aside from giving him a brief sharp glance, she simply turned her attention back to Oliver Green.
"Oliver, whatever research you’re conducting to pursue your ambitions, I don’t care. However, you’ve gone too far by spreading terror throughout my city. Are you trying to challenge me?"
Her tone made it clear that she did not want to waste any more time on pleasantries.
But instead of being intimidated, the man smiled even wider.
"That wasn’t my true intention. But if I want to gain more support, I need to show them what I’m capable of," he replied.
"Oh? Are you saying you want to prove that you can continue living peacefully here even after challenging me?"
"I’ll prove it."
"Hahahaha, boy, let’s see how you manage to stay alive!"
Aaron burst into laughter.
If someone challenged Miya, he would naturally be furious as well.
He immediately threw his red knife, which shot forward at lightning speed.
But suddenly, a hand moved with incredible speed and caught it.
At that moment, a man was already standing in front of Oliver’s desk.
He was thin and short, giving off an unremarkable impression.
Enzo was extremely shocked when he saw him.
Wasn’t this the participant who had won the first battle in the Colosseum, Alexander Arnold?
Aaron also seemed to recognize him, as he had been monitoring him when Gracie Torres took him away.
But how could a Level 4 Spiritual Warrior so easily catch the knife he had thrown?
Logically, only a Giant should have been capable of doing that.
"Such a shame. I’m going to lose one of my pawns," Oliver said with a soft laugh.
"Big bro, you’re truly amazing. A Level 4 Spiritual Warrior became a Giant. If you can also create a Lord of Earth, won’t you soon rule the world?" Alice said.
"This is what you get when you refuse to give up on your great ambitions," Oliver replied while pinching the woman’s cheek.
He turned his attention back to Miya, who was beginning to furrow her brows.
"I know you’re very strong, so strong that you could even hold onto an exploding nuclear bomb. But can you protect City Z from dozens of Giants ready to self-detonate? With a single command from me—or if I die—their power will activate, and they will detonate themselves."
