Chapter 274: 274 | We Shall Meet Again!

Old Lady Lucy.

Dexter’s eyes widened. "Grandma Lucy?"

He hadn’t heard her approaching.

Lucy looked down as her eyes first went toward Dexter. His blood-soaked clothes and his ruined shoulder.

Then she looked toward the devastated forest. Broken trees and shattered stone with by rning patches of earth.

Her gaze finally settled on the old man but her expression didn’t change. "There are children nearby."

The old man’s eyes remained fixed on her. Something appeared on his face. He seemed to have recognized her as he stared in disbelief. "You..."

Lucy stepped off the boulder and Dexter’s eyes widened. There was nothing beneath her feet and yet, she didn’t fall. She simply walked. One step, then another across empty air!

Her pace was slow and lazy as though invisible stairs existed beneath her feet.

The two injured Peak Ultra experts became pale. One whispered, "Impossible..."

Lucy descended until she stood several meters above the ground.

The place turned entirely silent.

Aurelyx’s eyes narrowed. ’Interesting.’

Lucy descended until she stood several meters above the ground.

The old man’s expression had become completely serious. "This is a private matter."

Lucy looked toward Aurelyx. More specifically... at the hand on her shoulder. "Let her go."

The elder’s jaw tightened. "This does not concern you."

Lucy tilted her head. "I wasn’t asking whether it concerned me."

The forest seemed afraid to make noise. Even Dexter felt something strange. There was no pressure coming from Lucy.

Yet the atmosphere had changed completely. The old man had nearly killed Dexter with one finger. And now that same man was hesitating.

Lucy descended one final step as her feet touched the ground.

"I’m waiting."

The old man’s fingers tightened on Aurelyx’s shoulder. "The girl belongs..."

Lucy raised her eyes. "Think carefully about the rest of that sentence."

The words were quiet and gentle but the old man stopped speaking as the distortion behind him trembled. Then... ’Pop.’ It vanished.

Dexter’s eyes narrowed. The old man hadn’t dismissed it. Lucy had.

He looked toward her. For the first time since arriving, genuine anger appeared on the elder’s face. "You haven’t changed."

Lucy smiled faintly. "And you still talk too much."

The two wounded men looked between them and neither dared breathe loudly.

The elder’s jaw tightened. "You know what she is."

Lucy looked at Aurelyx. "I know enough."

"Then you understand she cannot remain here."

"That sounds like your problem."

"Lucy."

The name came out coldly and Dexter’s eyes narrowed. Seems like theyknew each other.

Lucy smiled. "There." She pointed lazily. "You remembered my name. We’re making progress."

The old man’s expression darkened. "This matter predates that boy."

Dexter didn’t say anything.

Lucy looked toward Aurelyx, then toward Dexter. "Does she want to leave?"

Aurelyx’s expression remained cold. ’I do.’

The words entered every mind present, and Dexter’s jaw tightened.

Lucy glanced at him.

Dexter immediately spoke. "It’s complicated, but she’s not leaving."

Aurelyx looked toward him. ’You don’t know what I want.’

Dexter’s gaze hardened. "No matter what, you’re not leaving here."

Aurelyx’s expression changed slightly and go r the first time, Aurelyx didn’t have an immediate response.

The old man’s expression hardened. "Enough." His grip tightened. "She returns with us."

Lucy looked at his hand and old man froze. Nothing visible happened but the ground within half a kilometer radius pressed in by a half a meter deep into the ground as though a hydraulic pressed slapped forcefully against the ground.

The two Ultra experts stared and the old man’s eyes became cold.

Lucy sighed. "I dislike repeating myself."

The elder’s arm trembled and for a moment, Dexter thought he would attack.

Instead, the old man stared at Lucy for a long while, then he slowly lowered his arm.

Aurelyx stepped away.

Dexter immediately extended his good hand. "Come here."

Aurelyx looked at it and then at him as her eyes moved toward his shoulder.

Blood still poured from the hole and his clothes were torn with his face bruised.

One arm hung uselessly but yet, he was still holding the saber and standing. Still glaring at everyone between himself and her.

Aurelyx’s lips tightened. ’Idiot.’

Dexter’s expression didn’t change. "Come here."

’You cannot order me.’

"Fine."

Dexter took a step toward her and his leg nearly buckled but he caught himself.

Aurelyx’s expression flickered.

Dexter extended his hand again. "Please."

Something changed and for the briefest instant, the coldness in Aurelyx’s eyes cracked as Lyra appeared beneath it. Then vanished.

Aurelyx clicked her tongue mentally. ’Annoying.’

She walked toward him. Dexter’s fingers closed around her wrist.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

There.

He exhaled. Only now did Dexter realize he’d been holding his breath.

Aurelyx looked down at his hand. Then at his shoulder and her expression became difficult to read.

Dexter pulled her behind him. Despite barely standing, despite having one functioning arm and despite the enemy elder being overwhelmingly stronger, Dexter still placed himself between Aurelyx and the others.

Lucy noticed, and her eyes flickered with amusement. The elder noticed too, and his expression became colder.

"This matter is not finished."

Lucy glanced toward him. "I didn’t say it was."

His gaze shifted to Dexter. "Boy." Dexter’s eyes narrowed. The old man continued. "You have no understanding of what you’ve involved yourself in."

Dexter’s grip tightened on the saber. "I understand enough."

"No." The elder looked toward Aurelyx. "You understand nothing."

He turned toward his injured subordinates.

"Take them," Lucy said.

The elder stopped, and Lucy nodded toward the two wounded men. "And leave."

The elder’s expression darkened. "You should know we are both half way to that realm. If we fought, things would get out of hand. Don’t push me."

Lucy smiled. "No?"

The old man’s face twitched. Dexter almost chuckled.

The elder gave a cold harrumph. "Hmph!"

Space distorted behind him but this time Lucy didn’t stop it. The elder swept his sleeve, and invisible force wrapped around the two injured Peak Ultra experts as they were dragged toward him.

One stared at Dexter, humiliation burning in his eyes. The other looked at Aurelyx. "Monarch..."

Aurelyx’s expression remained unreadable.

The old man stepped into the distortion. Before disappearing, he looked at Lucy, then at Dexter. Finally Aurelyx.

"We will meet again."
