Chapter 275: 275 | There You Are...

Dexter lifted his saber. "Next time, I will kill you."

The old man’s eyes narrowed.

Lucy looked toward Dexter. "Little Chef."

"What?"

"Stop provoking the man who nearly put a hole through your heart."

Dexter lips curled to a smirk. "He missed."

Aurelyx slowly turned her head toward him. Even with her cold personality, disbelief crossed her face.

Lucy chuckled slightly. "You really are troublesome."

The elder stared at Dexter for a long while then he disappeared. The two men vanished with him as the distortion in the air closed.

Silence returned and the forest became strangely peaceful as smoke drifted between broken trees. Small fires burned in patches and dust slowly settled.

Dexter continued staring at the space where the elder had disappeared.

Only after he was certain they were gone did he lower the saber.

The moment he did... his knees buckled but he caught himself.

Aurelyx stared at him with disdain. ’Pathetic.’

Dexter breathed heavily and stared at her indifferently but he wasn’t successfully ragebaited as he ignored her.

Aurelyx brows furrowed slightly and her eyes became slightly cold.

Lucy approached Dexter. "Sit."

"I’m fine."

Lucy stared at him with raised eye brow and Dexter paused, then sat.

"Good."

"I was going to sit anyway."

"Of course."

Dexter leaned against a broken boulder. His regeneration was already working as the flesh around the shoulder wound twitched and started to heal. However, the destructive energy from the man attack rapidly ravage his organs, tissues, bones and even his flesh.

However, Dexter wasn’t an ordinary person. His body had been tempered with the indestructible Buddha Endurance Scripture. His bones were even harder than steel, his flesh harder than an Ox’s skin and his organs stronger.

The energy which was supposed to ravage the organs of an Ultra rank Hero to death only stopped his injury from healing!

Lucy noticed the dilemma as she spoke. "His energy remains inside your body."

"You’re regenerating but his energy keeps destroying it."

Dexter’s expression hardened. "Annoying old bastard."

Lucy chuckled. "You’ve got courage."

Aurelyx remained beside him. Dexter turned toward her. "Now." She looked back. "Give her back."

Aurelyx’s expression became cold. ’No.’

Dexter’s eyes narrowed. "You’re using my wife’s body."

Aurelyx’s eyes sharpened as she stared at him indifferently. ’This is our body.’

Dexter stared at her for what seem to be a while before he slowly nodded his head. "Your shared body."

Aurelyx seemed slightly surprised.

Dexter continued. "But Lyra gets a say."

’And I don’t?’

"You do."

That answer surprised her more.

Dexter continued. "But you don’t get to suppress her, disappear without warning and leave with two strangers who tried to knock her unconscious."

Aurelyx’s eyes darkened. ’They weren’t strangers to me.’

"They were to Lyra."

Dexter stared into her eyes. "You called what we’ve been doing ’playing house.’"

Aurelyx said nothing.

"Maybe that’s what it feels like to you." His voice became quieter. "But it isn’t a game to her."

Aurelyx’s expression flickered.

"And it isn’t a game to me." Dexter pointed weakly toward the destroyed forest. "I just fought two Peak Ultra Realm experts and an old monster who nearly killed me."

Lucy raised an eyebrow. "Old monster?"

Dexter glanced at her as he scratched his head. "Not you Grandma Lucy."

Lucy’s lips curled upwards as her slightly wrinkled eye squinted. "Smart."

He looked back at Aurelyx. "I didn’t do all that because I’m bored."

Aurelyx stared.

Dexter’s voice hardened. "If Lyra wakes up tomorrow and tells me she wants to leave..." His jaw tightened. "I’ll listen."

Aurelyx’s eyes shifted.

"But you don’t get to make that choice for her."

For several seconds, neither spoke. Then Aurelyx looked away. ’You talk too much.’

Dexter smiled as he shrugged. "Lyra never complained."

’Perhaps the oldman should have hit your mouth instead.’

Dexter blinked his eyes. "You’re quite cruel."

Aurelyx glared and Dexter chuckled. Pain immediately stabbed through his ribs, making him cough repeatedly.

Suddenly, Aurelyx instinctively reached toward him but her hand stopped halfway. Dexter immediately noticed and she withdrew her hand but it was too late.

Dexter brows furrowed slightly as he glanced at her. "Interesting."

Lucy watched the exchange and laughed.

Both looked at her. "What?"

Lucy shook her head. "Young people."

She then turned to Aurelyx and spoke quietly. "Come here."

Aurelyx didn’t move. ’Why?’

Lucy smiled. "Because I’m asking nicely."

Aurelyx’s eyes narrowed. ’And if I refuse?’

Lucy looked toward the destroyed mountain. "Then I’ll ask less nicely."

Dexter almost laughed.

Aurelyx stared at the old woman, then reluctantly stepped forward. Lucy lifted two fingers. Aurelyx immediately stepped back.

’Don’t touch me.’

Lucy paused, then lowered her hand. "Fair."

Her gaze moved across Aurelyx’s body and Dexter could feel a strange fluctuation in the air. Suddenly, Lucy’s expression changed slightly.

"Hmm."

Dexter frowned. "What?"

Lucy ignored him. "Interesting."

"What’s interesting?"

Still nothing.

"Grandma Lucy."

She looked at him. "You’re nosy." But Lucy pointed toward Aurelyx as she spoke. "The two personalities might not be as separate as either believes."

Dexter’s expression changed, and Aurelyx’s eyes narrowed. ’Explain.’

Lucy shook her head. "Not here."

Dexter frowned. "Why?"

Lucy ignored him, turned around as she spoke. "We should return."

Dexter attempted to stand but his legs shook slightly.

Aurelyx reached for him again, and he leaned partly against her. At that moment, she suddenly frowned.

’You’re heavy.’

Dexter smiled. "Thought you were a mighty Shadow Queen."

Her eyes narrowed as she said indifferently. ’I can drop you.’

"You won’t."

’Try me.’

Dexter looked toward her and for a moment, the coldness in her eyes suddenly changed as a tiny twitch at the corner of her mouth.

Dexter’s smile softened, he knew that expression.

"Lyra?"

Aurelyx froze and her violet eyes flickered. Cold, warm, cold again and then her body stiffened as her hand moved to her temple.

Dexter’s expression changed. "Lyra?"

Aurelyx stumbled and Dexter immediately caught her. "Hey."

Her breathing became uneven as her eyes closed. And for several seconds, Dexter heard her heart beat pick up rapidly as her Shadow energy surged and then as rapid as it started, it all settled.

Her eyes opened and there was confusion, fear and then lastly, recognition.

Lyra stared at Dexter and her eyes widened when she saw the bloody hole in his shoulder and his shattered clothes.

Her face slightly became pale but Dexter immediately smiled. "There you are."
